I use this duffel for weekend trips and have the small size. It is perfect for this use. The material is heavy duty and although it may weigh a bit more to start off with, the straps are comfortable enough to carry it without complication. I love the camo design! I do wish the side pocket was the same as the side pocket on the medium size duffel. I do really love this bag and plan to buy the medium size one eventually to have a bit larger capacity.

This bag is great for overnight trips. My only complaint is that it does not have a single strap like the M/L bag, but other than that it is great bag.

Great for an airline carry on based on its bold apperances and colors. Bonus points for its ability to transform from a backpack to duffel. As tough as hard luggage with the ability to pack flat when empty.

The bag is nice, well put together and sturdy. It's sturdiness though gives it a bit of weight relative to size. The backpack straps are very useful and one of its most attractive features compared to similar bags from other companies. I do however wish it was easier to carry like a traditional duffel but doesn't have the standard straps.

That's my second one, I got the first one 6 years ago and it is still pretty steady. Now I got one more. This version is better than previous ones, but the main hustle is it not being as comfortable to carry as a backpack...so take that into account if you are planning a longer trip.

I use 2 different sizes (S & L) and I love them. Only in size S, I miss this end-cap zippered compartment recently introduced for the larger bags. If this is going to be avaible, I'll buy a new one and rate it with 5*.

Love the duffel line, own five bags of various sizes. Would like to see a buckle clip added to the backpack straps, for easy removal and access at airport and final destination.

Love this bag. I initially purchased the medium size for a 3 week trip through Southern Spain. The shoulder straps were comfortable As a gym bag, I carry a complete change of clothes incl. shoes, my work laptop, and a windbreaker in the bag each day. There is plenty of room to spare- enough to double as a weekender bag (Or even a work week trip for consultants) Two small areas for improvement for the SMALL size - I would have liked to have sacrificed some room in the main compartment t expand the side pocket such that it carries the same dimensions of the side pocket of the medium sized duffel - I love that my northface backpacks have chest straps. This would solve issues where the shoulder straps sometimes slid off my shoulders.

great bag. sizing is perfect for me - can fit all the gear i need daily for Muay Thai / BJJ and also can use for a week long trip. feels comfortable on your back, looks awesome. only improvement i would make is make the bag more compartmentalized, with a larger separate top section like the Medium size North Face duffel

Perfect bag to take to the gym or as a carry on. Will be using anywhere from boating to business trips; large or small enough to fit my every need.

I love this bag. It's very versatile. Great to use as a gym bag, as well as a carry-on for traveling. I also own the medium-sized duffel which I use for longer trips. Great product.

This is the 5th member of my base camp duffel collection. I have two of the extra large duffels, a large and a medium. Each is good for a different purpose. This one I got as part of a gift card north face issued me. I didn't really need another one, but since I had a gift card I got this bag and have fallen in love with it. It is great for keeping gym clothes in. Is durable so it can withstand whatever weather gets thrown at it while on my back and is the perfect size for work out clothes, a towel and shoes. It also has an additional pocket on the outside which is good for storing phone keys and wallet for use after the gym. It has become my daily bag.

Overall, this is a really good bag. I like that it's waterproof and it can take a beating without getting beat up. It's really durable. And it comes in a wide range of colors. I use this for a gym bag to hold all of my weightlifting and power-lifting gear. I also will use it for weekend trips, etc. I would suggest two improvements to this bag. First, the straps could really use some work. Not the shoulder strap (that's fine), but the straps used to support the bag. They're REALLY flimsy and they twist too easily, which means you end up with a hard, thin, twisted cord instead of the wider strap that it should be. I'm always having to stop and untwist the straps, which is really annoying. That's how I discovered that the straps are not as easily adjustable as they should be for a bag at this price, which surprised me. The second recommendation I would make is to add another panel pocket inside the bag. My bag only has one small zipped pocket, and it's one the "lid" of the bag. I wish there was a second zipper panel inside along the sides somewhere because when I carry my bag (which is always full of gear) everything goes to the bottom of the bag. So when I need to find something, I have to pull everything out of the bag until I put my hand on what I'm looking for. Another inside pocket would make it much easier to organize the contents of the bag. Other than the sub-par straps and my desire for another pocket, it's a great bag that I think will hold up for a long time.

I bought one in Medium... way too big as carry on, can any one confirm if the XS is carry on compatible? Thanks!

This is a fun duffle bag in so many style and size options. I'd love them all. I prefer duffles over suitcases as they are lighter and more stuffable ;) This would also make a great gym bag, ski bag, or for any other reason you could dream up!

Great bag, I ordered black but shortly after I got it, noticed they have even more great colors now for the small. Wish I had waited a week! This version is different that prior years as noted. Still no snap off straps which would be helpful. The video on the site looks like the straps snap off but nope. There are NO cay handles like old year....saw one complaint about that. Not that big a deal as the backpack straps can be used for 'hand' straps to carry the bag. Seems that hand straps and backpack straps would be a bit 'too many straps' but I never had the old bag so who know I have some packing cubes that i'll use to help keep the contents relatively in order otherwise it's one big open compartment and there would be significant shifting. No lock holes on the zippers but if you have the travel locks that have the wire loops like I do, they will still work.

The 50L size bag is perfect. I love that it is water resistant and has the capability to be a backpack - extremely helpful. However, I will say the zippers are a little subpar. It is actually difficult to zip/unzip the main pouch, which is a little annoying when you need to go in and out of the bag on vacation. Also, I will note that dirt/sand does cling to the material and is not easy to brush off. Overall, a good bag but could use some improvements!

This product is great but it's also not so great. The ability to carry this as a backpack is the obvious plus. However, the straps used to do so are awkward and clunky. They get in the way trying to get into the bag and is the main reason I returned the item. Also, why no shoulder strap for a duffel bag? Or at least some loops to attach one? If you're looking for a traditional duffel bag, I would not recommend. I'm giving 4 stars because it is a high quality bag, compressible, and has multiple uses (durable weekend bag, airline personal item) and there is a niche for people who want to use it.
