The most important element of fit is the width. My grandson has very wide feet and these are perfect! He will be one year old in a week and is in the 97th percentile on height. We measured his foot for length and chose a size 7. It is slightly too long. We will most likely keep the shoes. He will grow into them soon enough.

My (almost) 2 year old has very wide feet. We had to get the XW in these, but these were the only pair that we could find to fit - we went through 6 pairs prior to this one. They are easy to get on and off and he has no problems running and playing in them.

I've been buying this brand of shoes and style for my son in XW since he could walk and now he's just over 2 and we're up to size 10. Great shoes for littles with big feet. I'm so glad I can find shoes that I don't have to stuff his feet into. I tried another style of New Balance because it was on sale and the strap and the tongue of the shoe seemed to be in the wrong place and uncomfortable around his ankle for size 10 and I returned it. This style is just right.

My son wears orthotics, and I need a wide to get them in. Most places don't carry wide which is so frustrating! So, when I found these shoes for such a good deal on Zappos, I gave them a try. They worked! I would say even buying a wide they felt a little narrow, but it works for our need. My 2 year old wore these shoes every day until his feet grew, and they held up GREAT and I went and bought the same pair in a half size bigger! High recommended.

Great shoe for my toddler with wide feet

Really like these shoes. Have a toddler with a wide foot who also wears SMOs. These fit great. Foot with SMOs slide right in and strap is long enough to Velcro. Tried several other brands and this was the best one!

My son loves them so far

I bought these for my two year old as his only shoes, and they haven't fallen apart after 4 months of nonstop use. They have gotten frayed a bit on the ankle and are showing wear in the toe, but not beyond using further. Easy to get on and off. Purchasing a pair in the next size, and thankful for shoes that fit so well!

My 2 year old loves his new shoes and seems very comfortable in them.

My son has a wide foot and very high instep. Finding sneakers for him is a nightmare. We’ve been buying him new balance since he started walking because they were the only shoes that came in XW and were truly XW. He wouldn’t fit it any other brand at the time. Now he’s older (size little kid 9.5) and while he no longer requires the xw, he does need a wide shoe with high instep. These fit him beautifully and as a perk they look adorable. Hopefully they last like his old ones!

Love these shoes. My five year old wears a 4.5XW (big kids), so it’s slim pickin’s for him. He’s on his third pair of this style from New Balance. I’ve bought him the red and the blue, and now he’s wearing the navy with neon yellow details and he loves them. I showed him the shoes I was considering buying for his 16 month old brother, and he insisted that they should have the exact same matching navy NB shoes, so that’s what I bought. My 16 month-old wears size 8XW and they’re easy to get on after loosening the Velcro. My husband actually called across the house that “these shoes are a delight to put on,” so there you go! The toddler shoe has a similarly/proportionally thick sole to the big kids’ shoe, and they’re definitely not those thin-soled early walker style, but my son is walking and running like a champ, so I let him graduate. We couldn’t be happier!

Perfect red speedy shoes! My 3 year old son’s favorite color is red, and he loves to run “super fast!” So, he loves these sneaks. My gripes are: the top of the toe area started peeling almost immediately because he is always crawling around outside, and he has a hard time pulling up the tongue to secure them properly - you need an adult to pull it so the tongue doesn’t get shoved down below the Velcro. Other than that, these are awesome. And despite the peeling, it doesn’t look like the shoes are coming apart, necessarily. He hasn’t had any issues with the laces like some reviewers have noted.

I chose these shoes after having difficulty with the Velcro on some stride rite shoes for my son. I like how the Velcro extends across the entire top of these shoes and not just one small area that secures. They’re cute and so far holding up really well.

My daughter has wide short feet and has worn the same size shoe since she started walking. Unfortunately this is a very hard combination to find. However these are the best ones for a 4.5 XW toddler shoe barn none! We have tried Stride Rite and other name brands which are good for walking, but when she puts these on she takes off running without tripping and falling!

Cute shoes. New Balance tends to run narrow so these Extra Wide were perfect for my son's typically Wide size foot!
