Excellent fit and comfort with great support, the elastic lacing is a real plus for me when working as most laces are to long and always catching, being step on and coming untied. So theses are really good all round shoe/ light boot.

They are very comfortable. They are not lace ups which I did not notice when I selected them, they are slip ones which I like but I often break down the heel slipping them on and off. They are a nice step up from a real tennis shoe. I like them.
I'd also recommend:
I like Keen also

It's a very comfortable and warm shoe to wear, not the easiest to put on due to the small opening. But once you get them on, there awesome!

Color wasn't even close to what was shown. Listed as boulder and looked tan on website.turned out to be a mossy green color. Very disappointed

I've bought 5 of these reincarnations over the last 7 years. The first was good, then the quality and comfort slipped. This version is back on point after a few different poorer versions. I might buy more of this version since they've got the formula back

I switched over to the chameleon after wearing the trail glove 4 for a couple years -- I am very glad I made the switch. The comfort and traction on the chameleons is way better. Can't feel any rocks when walking and your foot has a lot of protection with the hard rubber that goes all around the shoe. I have tons of traction with these shoes walking down steep rocky, dusty trails. Shoes aren't very heavy, running in them is very nice. I've only worn them a few weeks, but they seem to be holding up well -- about 20 miles of hiking difficult trails per week. The trail gloves lasted 3 months before the traction up front was worn and about 5-6 months before they had holes and were falling apart. Keeping my fingers crossed that these chameleons last longer. I like the shoes enough that I'm going to buy another pair of the waterproof version for this winter and give them a try. Shoes look very nice in black, can wear in the city no problem. These shoes, however, have a serious SQUEAKING problem. Every step you take is very loud. I fixed it by spraying some WD-40 water resistant dry silicone spray in them. The rubber on rubber squeaking noise was way too loud to wear in buildings. Merrel should have fixed that before producing these shoes.

Was surprised that this pair, only a color difference from my other stretch pair, was almost too big.

This shoe is not the same as described or pictured. The sole is Merrell not Vibram. The stitching is closer and gaps narrower. The coloring is not the same as in the pictures. The heel is constructed differently. VERY ODD for Merrell!

Wore these for over a year. Did very intense hikes and bicycled around the country in them. They lasted a long time and worked as well as my hiking boots. Tons of traction on steep slopes. The elastic cord is what broke first, but that was fine with me. I didn't really like the cord. Wanted to replace with paracord. After a while it became difficult to put them on. It's very tight to open up the shoe. Once you get your feet in the shoes they fit perfectly though. It's like you stuck your foot into a perfectly molded jar. They are rugged shoes.

This is my umpteenth pair of Chameleon Stretch. Some versions have been much better than others--the first couple of generations were likely the most super comfortable, but tended to wear out pretty quickly. This latest incarnation is the next step in their evolution... the fit is the same, but break-in has been much longer. I've worn them now for several days, and they're finally starting to loosen up. Aesthetically, they're similar to the older versions except for the toe, which is now squarer and has rubber the comes up over the toes -- not unlike shoes from another manufacturer whose name starts with "K" and ends with "n". I'm very hopeful that I'll come to love these as much as any of the Chameleon Stretch versions that I've owned. They have the potential to be the most comfortable shoes you could want!

First pair of Merrells I've owned. I like the style of the shoe, and it's a well built product. My only piece of advice would be that the shoes are hot. They have a full lining of neoprene through the whole inside of the shoe. There is really no ventilation. Just something to be aware of. I've also noticed what another reviewer said about feeling a little tight around the ankle on a long drive.

I had a pair of marauders years ago, absolutely loved them. Thought I would give them another try. Just got them and they feel alright, but the color does not look like the picture.

These are the most comfortable of the Chameleon series that i've worn, maybe even the most comfortable Merrell's that i've had. They fit my feet perfect, great support (unlike the last generation), easy on/off and my back's haven't worn down yet (unlike the last generation). My only complaint is that they are very squeaky. There's no way i'm sneaking up on anyone in these shoes. If there is a way to fix this, or maybe it has been addressed in a recent update, i would give these a 5* right now.

The look and construction of this shoe is rugged and of top quality, however it's very heavy clocking in at 29oz. For that reason it doesnt make a good casual shoe for everyday wear. Something to bear in mind if your shopping for that purpose.

I've loved Merrel's for years and my pair before these lasted me 4 years of medium use. That being said, the Chameleon 7's are a great feeling shoe, the fit was perfect, the outer shell construction was incredibly durable, and I loved the wing on the back and it saved my heel more than a handful of times hiking in the mountains of Colorado. Now the downside, I've had 2 pairs and they each lasted me about a year. On both pairs the stitching in the back blew out after a few months of wearing them and eventually the plastic shielding in the back of the heel begins to slice into your heel. The plastic edges on the front of the began to peel away and the tread started to deteriorate around 8+ months and around a year the webbing laces snap. All in all, they were well designed on the outside and extremely durable and comfortable until they started breaking down. If Merrel came out with a version 9 including the wing on the back and fixing these issues, I'd buy them in a heartbeat but the 7's aren't worth the heartache unless you only use them once a month.

Got what I thought was a great deal on these shoes. Rapidly discovered why they are being cleared out. The inner stitching on the heel above the rubber knob failed in less than a month. Compared to the Geomorph Maze stretch shoes (almost 6 yrs old) that the Chan's were supposed to replace they pale in comparison. Only instance where I can truly say I bought a lemon. Very disappointing and dissatisfied.

I have had multiple pairs of this shoe and they are a great shoe until the inside heel area begins to breakdown after about 90 days. I wear them everyday at work and on trails in the Cascades. Wish they could solve the issue. It looks like there is a plastic piece that breaks down the fabric inside the heel area.

Have worn Chameleon Stretch shoes for years. Probably my 8th pair. Shoes are used for work and work days. Preferred the original Merrell sole, not the new VIBRAM brand sole. Foot bed is stiffer than earlier models and doesn't offer the same sensitivity. Probably my last pair of Chameleonsif you lived the earlier shoes you might or might not like these. Sorry Merrell not a fan of the Chameleon 7 and I returned my Chameleon 8s

I consistently wear a nine and these were too big. Felt good out of the box in my home but once on a hike my feet were moving around and sliding forward. I have Merrell trail running shoes and nine is fine.

This was my most comfortable pair of Merrels yet. I really needed something that I could walk a lot in, spend long days on my feet in the city and not have fatigue I sometimes get with less cushioned and less supported shoes. I bought these twice and am happy the comfort is consistent but Im sad to say there's a major flaw with this shoe. It is super slippery on wet surfaces! I wear these in the city and on rainy days or days there's been snow, causing stairs and walkways to be somewhat wet, these almost kill me. I generally go out of my way to wear another pair of shoes if it's wet out or going to rain. I've often slid on steps, sidewalks and streets even when there was a wet surface. WHAT is this shoe's soles made of??? Im looking for something else since Ive almost fallen badly so many time; this never happens with any other of my Merrels.
