This is the fifth different shoe I have tried from Altra. Some of that is because I use them for different things. Some of that is because they are constantly getting rid of successful shoe designs in their "updates". The Duo is the first shoe that I absolutely HATE with the fire of a thousand suns. There is nothing good about this shoe. Upper quality and durability is what you would expect from a wet piece of toilet paper. As it stretches out, it just gets more and more loose. The heel cups sound like suction cups when you walk. When I walk my dog in these shoes, he is constantly looking back and me as if to say, "Do you hear that? Is something following us?" They also pick up rocks like you wouldn't believe. Try explaining to your wife why you scraped up the hard wood floors because you didn't check your shoe bottoms for rocks EVERY time you come in the house. Also there seems to be some disconnect in calling these shoes max cushion. They have hurt my feet since day one. I've tried replacing the insoles. I've tried prescription and over the counter orthotics. Nothing seems to help. I wish I could send these back. I wish you guys would have never "updated" the Torin 3.0. I wish there was another company that produced a foot shaped shoe. Perhaps they wouldn't change their shoes so much. I will continue to buy shoes from Altra because it's the only option, but I will take the reviews more seriously.

Both shoe uppers ripped at the side point of the metatarsal joint at less than 100 miles. The top of the left upper is also ripping by the toes where they may touch the top. The bottom of the shoes fill up with anything that will fit in the grooves (pebbles, twigs, etc...). While Altra provided a warranty pair of this shoe to me for the defective issues, I don't have any expectation that the second pair of these will be any different based on all of the other reviews given so far...

Having been excited to make the change to Altras, I bought the Duos at my local running store after getting fitted. I really enjoyed my time running in them - the shoes have great cushioning and support while also being light and flexible, and I love the zero-drop and wide toe box features that Altra is famous for. The soles did pick up rocks at times, but that doesn't really bother me. However, after only 35 miles I noticed symmetrical ripped holes in the uppers next to the balls of my feet on the front inside of both shoes. I have read similar reviews citing similar durability issues with the uppers on various message boards, and unfortunately I had the same experience.
I really do love the zero drop and wide toe box, so I went to my running store and exchanged the Duos for a new pair of Torin 3.5 Knits. Hopefully they will hold up better than my Duos.

The upper started to tear at the toe bend along the inside of the shoe after only 10 miles of running and just a couple months of normal wear. I use as a daily "go to work" shoe because I didn't like the stiffness of the sole while running. Lots of toe room. Love Altra shoes, but the Duo isn't for me.

Got the duos to go lighter than my paradigms. They felt great running but after ten miles the soles were just about worn out the tread was pretty much worn off. Then shortly after the inside of the shoe ripped out. All this within 50 miles. Gonna have to find a different shoe.

These shoes have great cushioning, love that...except the tongue of the shoe. It is nice and thin, great, but it consistently fold/rolls in on the sides and caused a lot of discomfort! Unfortunately, I will have to return these! I hope the updated model will address this issue!!!
