I bought these sneakers as my version of "fashion sneakers". I have workout sneakers that I love, but I wanted some fashion sneakers for every day wear when I am not working out. I love the look of Stan Smiths, Converse, etc but they are not for me. They have no support and hurt my feet. I kept looking! To me, these have a fashionable, retro vibe and they are comfortable! I would not wear them for 10 miles of walking but I would wear them for a comfortable day of shopping, running errands and generally being on my feet. They look great with jeans and "athleisure" looks. I bought them in a few colors and they are great. FYI - for someone who needs custom orthotics -- I found these to be deep enough to accommodate an orthotic.

Love these! I actually ran some half marathons in these and they were my main shoe for college and senior year high school 1978 to 1981. I wore OUT about four pairs. They still feel EXACTLY like they did back then. I am sort of in my second teenagerhood now, I am 58, a black belt in karate, swim laps and I joined our local roller derby team about 9 months ago. These shoes fit my re-emerging adolescent to a TEE. Thanks Zappos!

People are spot on about these being cut smaller than size indicated. I listened and sized up and glad I did, otherwise would have had the hassle of sending them back. These are now officially the biggest sized shoe in my closet (by label) but not the biggest shoe in my closet (by actual size). Inconsistent sizing in a trusted brand like New Balance is NOT A GOOD THING!

As another reviewer noted, the purple shoes are very, very violet. In spite of the name, I could see from the photos they were purple, so expected that, but in the photos they appear to be a very deep, blueish purple. Photos are very inaccurate; the color is much, much lighter. And, to my surprise, the "N" is sequined. Something that is not apparent in the photos. Not what I expected at all. Sequins REALLy not being my thing, they are going back. Wish Zappos would have provided an accurate description. If some of the shoes are sequined, put them in a separate category! Dont include them with the regular shoes, which don't indicate sequins anywhere.

Very comfortable! Took them out of the box and walked all over Philadelphia for a weekend without any issues. Many people are saying they run big, but I didn't find this to be the case. For reference, I wear a 6 in slip-ons like TOMS and Vans and a 6.5 in boots and tennis shoes. I ordered a 6.5 and they work great with a normal weight, cotton sock.

I have been wearing this exact model of NB shoe for over 10 years (the grey/white color), but it's been a while since I ordered a pair, so the model number is different now and they've made some updates on the shoe. The tongue used to be thicker and cushier (on some colors it still is), but now it's super thin, which some people might like, but I find a tiny bit annoying. The size is pretty much right on. These shoes have no arch support, which is great for me because I have flat duck feet, so shoes with arch support are painful. I have tried other NB shoes and other brands, but I keep coming back to these!

I am standard 8.5 in sandals or casual shoes…I ordered the 9 & 9.5 based on reviews. Ended up keeping the 9.5 as it gave me a little more room (toe was right at edge with the 9). Love these shoes and amazed at the comfort and arch support versus my other sneakers.

These are such great shoes! Out of the box they fit me perfectly, and there's better arch support than I thought there would be. In regular shoes, I tend to be a 9.5 medium, but I always buy size 10 in running/walking shoes since it gives me more room for my foot to spread out and move while walking. I bought these for errands and more casual wear around town, though. My only (tiny) issue is that I thought the burgundy would be darker than it is. But since we're leaving on a trip that will have lots of walking and I don't have time to return and find a pair that is darker red or burgundy, I'm keeping them. I love that this shoe will look great with every outfit I'm taking on the trip--style and comfort in a shoe makes this one a win-win. Here are two pics--one in regular room light and one in the sun for comparison. Highly recommend these :-)

I have very wide feet with high arches and New Balance Classics are by go-to shoes. These are much cuter than I anticipated from the picture (the "N" is in tiny sequins!) and they've very comfortable. My only quibble is that the "wide" (while it fit) felt a little narrower than other pairs of New Balance Classics I have, so there seems to be a little bit of inconsistency in how wide their wide-width shoes actually are -- it seems to vary with each color and style. These are a little on the narrower side of the "wide" spectrum. These are also pretty "chunky" in appearance compared to some of the other styles of New Balance Classics. But they're comfortable, supportive, and a great everyday shoe!

I am a 9.5 in adidas, so I figured a 9.5 would fit. But, the shoes is thick itself, so I had to order a size 10.

I like this shoe, but I don't like it as much as the old pair I was trying to replace. My old shoes are New Balance 573. I got them in exactly the same size. What I didn't realize until I started wearing the new ones was how different the width of the soles would be. Across the widest part of the toe area, the new style is 6mm narrower. In the widest part of the heel, the new shoe is 15mm narrower. The reason this is important to me is that I walk on rough roads and paths most of the time, and I find I am much more inclined to twist my ankles in the new shoes. I haven't injured myself yet, but it is annoying to have to try to be so careful and still have my foot turning under me when I least expect it. I think this must have something to do with the "classic" styling, and I wish this feature of the new shoes was described better before I had to wear them to find out. I also have been having trouble keeping the tongue from creasing when I tie the right shoe. I think this is due to my right foot being narrower than my left, so I have to cinch the shoe tighter. It takes extra seconds every time I put the right shoe on. All that being said, I do like the appearance of these shoes and I think the quality of the manufacturing is good. One feature I love about New Balance is that I don't wear a hole through the top of the shoe where my big toe touches it. In my Aisics and Brooks shoes, I had worn a hole in a matter of a few months. My new shoes have leather reinforcement in this potential problem spot, so I doubt I could ever wear it out on the top of the shoe. As long as you don't plan to wear these shoes on uneven surfaces, you will probably do fine with them. The photos show my old shoes in purple and the new ones in blue. (They both have Superfeet insoles in them.)

I was looking for an athletic shoe that was light in weight and not too bulky looking yet be supportive. These shoes fit the bill. The only reason I gave them 4 starts instead of 5 is because of the issue of finding the correct size. In woman's athletic shoes an 11 wide leaves plenty of room for my toes that need to spread out when running. After reading the other reviews I ordered an 11 1/2 wide. It felt good in the width but short in length. I have never worn a 12 but thanks to Zappos easy returns I thought I'd give it a try. I reordered the twelve in wide and medium width. The 12 B is perfect. The insole is removable if you need to put in you own arch supports or want a thicker insole.

I LOVE these shoes. The color is so lovely. I was iffy about the size after trying them on the first time. They felt a little snug but I decided to keep them in hopes that they would loosen a smidge as I wore them. (And they have... I think I'm just used to looser shoes since I wear clogs and birkenstock sandals often.)

I don't know why people are saying that they are small and narrow. They are true to size. I have wide feet and by ordering wide, now I wish I ordered medium.

First time ordering these shoes. Been wearing about 6 months now everyday. Absolutely love this shoes, my feet never hurt. Ordered a wide because I have bunions and haven’t had sore feet and the fit is great! Would definitely recommend these, price is wonderful too.

I love these shoes! They foot the bill as a simple, retro, nice sneaker I was looking for. I ordered a half size up after reading reviews and glad I did! I own mostly Keens and these are a good casual shoe as well.

Love these classics! They remind me of my childhood and look super cute with cropped jeans and pants. While I wouldn’t go running in them, they are the type of tenny you can put on in the morning, wear all day, and not even realize you’ve worn them 12 hours because they are so comfortable.

Love these tennies! Based on other reviews, I almost ordered a half size up. So glad I didn’t. I’m a 7.5 in Asics, 9 West, and Tory Burch for reference, and the 7.5 in these fit perfectly. They look great with cropped jeans and pants, and even with my work dresses for my commute and my lunchtime walk.
