I took these out of the box and went right on vacation to Seattle and Victoria. I walked several miles each day as I explored both cities. These shoes are great. I like the low profile look of them. The toe box is wide enough for my toes, and my plantar fasciitis hasn't flared up once since I've been wearing them.. My feet don't ache at the end of each day either. I usually wear a women's size 12 shoe, so the recommended size was a 10 in men's. Instead, I ordered a 10.5 and sent them back to get an 11 which fit correctly. I ordered Atmosphere Gray/Black, and I'm very happy so far with my purchase. Looking at other colors now.
I'd also recommend:

These are TRAINING shoes. These are not made for running, hiking, walking, swimming or whatever else you people do. The shoe is designed to keep your weight back on your heels. When you are lifting weights or doing movements that require balance and lateral support, these shoes are perfect for that. Not a ton of cushion in the balls of the feet so aerobic jumping might get uncomfortable if it’s a long work out but should be good for short spurts. Light weight, flexible and stable. I am replacing Nike Free Tr6 and I personally feel more comfort and stability from the Metcon. I normally wear a woman’s 9 1/2 but ordered an 8 in men’s because I liked the color better than the woman’s selection. A reviewer said these shoes pulled down his ankle socks and I could see where this may happen because of how your heel sits in the shoe, but I wore your basic Nike low cut socks and didn’t have a problem.

We love these shoes. My husband bought them to wear while working a bike patrol. Great for biking and running.

This is my first pair of Metcons. Primarily used in the gym. They are a great overall gym shoe. They are my goto shoe for lifting/crossfit.

I bought these shoes to use at the gym a great all around shoe - bootcamp, kickboxing, HIT, and strength training . First of all, the shoe looks super cool. Even better than I thought from the pictures. Shoe is seriously narrow though...so keep that in mind. I have a very narrow foot and frankly this the best fitting shoe I've ever had. They are very low on the foot, light, but have a lot of lateral support and firm base. The first workout I used these was actually a leg workout and they were great. I've since used them for most of other types of workouts. They're definitely not good to run in. The base is extremely firm and uncomfortable for that. Overall, my favorite and best fitting training shoe I've had.

Bought these Nike Metcon 4 for my husband and he’s very happy with them. Have plenty of comfort and support. I’m thinking of getting a 2nd pair for him. And thanks Zappos for your great service.

These are pretty good. I use them mostly for group classes in the gym — HIIT, kickboxing, bodypump, etc. I like that I can change out the insole but so far I haven't bothered. They feel pretty good as is. My only complaint is that I bought the black-on-black option thinking I would look like a cool ninja, but they really make me look more like a waiter.

Perfect blend of comfort, style and support. All day at work, intense workouts, running errands, whatever. I have long work hours and these are great. I bought the black/white/gum first and then bought a second all black pair.

I bought these as gym shoes for business travel because they are close to minimal (low profile mesh) shoes that compress down very thin and bend in a my smaller carry on airplane luggage. I can tell these are sturdy shoes made for weights and side to side movements that you see in cross training gyms. I could not use the thick optional lifting inserts in these because my heal kept lifting out (low profile shoe). I have read that heel lift out is an issue with the Metcon shoes. Without any inserts these are like walking on plastic - very hard. I had to search for a very thin insert (superfeet flex thin) to make it tollerable. If you are younger and have no foot/ankle/back pains these would be very nice for weight lifting or cross training. However, with the superfeet flexthin inserts these will be perfect for what I wanted - a very compressible mininmal hotel gym shoe for 2-3 day business trips.

This shoe caught my eye as a great low-profile training shoe. When I tried these on, I loved the wide but low toe box, and the all-black sleek design. The shoe is very comfortable and stable, and would definitely get me through my WOD. However, I cannot reconcile with the back edge sticking out so much - it looks gimmicky to me. I am sure that the design was increased stability, but the modification seemed too much.

I think that the shoes will be fine for the purpose, but I want to point out that these run small - which is my typical experience with Nike. I wear a size 12 for nearly all shoe makers, but I am always a size 13 in Nike shoes. I ordered a size 13 and they fit properly.

Provides great lateral support and makes your feet feel well-planted to the ground while still giving adequate arch support. Really happy with how these feel while doing strength training. The shoe is slightly on the narrow side. It's not uncomfortably so, but it makes me concerned about the longevity of this shoe. The rubber tongue of the shoe is part of a larger piece of molded rubber that surrounds the whole foot. When putting the shoe on, lifting the tongue and squeezing your foot into it puts stress on the rubber on either side of the tongue. It seems like that regular stress will eventually result in a tear. If it was just a little wider, it would be less of a concern. I will probably invest in thin socks to reduce this stress and hopefully preserve the shoe, which I'm otherwise happy with.

I loved everything about these shoes except that, for me, the shoes made my feet roll inward. Aside from that, these shoes are great, and if you don’t have my particular issue you will really like these shoes. I didn’t have the same problem with Reebok nano 8, but I like the style of the Nikes better.

Fit and size are true. I was unable to find the specific color in a store so I was happy to find it here. I am using the shoes for workouts.

I use this shoe for working out at the gym. Low profile, yet supportive. Shoe looks amazing. Would recommend going down a half size from what you typically wear for a Nike.

Great CrossFit shoe but had to get a half size larger to get enough length. Very stable while lifting though.

Only had the shoes for a week and overall I feel they have performed well.. For a Nike, this is a relatively wide shoe. I have a really wide foot and wear a size 9. I went up a half size and feel I have enough room. I use the shoes for crossfit. Apart from running, they perform really well for the movements you go through.
