I've had this mat for about a month and I'm in love. Little to no slipping hand it wonderfully cushions between you and the ground.

I have tried several mats for hot yoga and I end up slipping. This mat you don't! I absolutely love it and I will stick with this mat!

This mat is AMAZING! When you first open it and touch it, it seems like there is absolutely NO possible way you WON'T slip. Nonetheless, I brought it to hot yoga without a towel, having only wiped it down with a bit of mat spray (homemade--water, white vinegar, lavender and tea tree oil). The other reviews are absolutely right--there is NO break-in necessary with this mat. You do NOT need a towel (I sweat buckets, but refuse to use a mat that requires me to use a mat towel. I only use a small hand towel to wipe my face). Before this one, the Eco Lite mat was my go-to, but I found that they wore out rather quickly with daily use, plus that mat is thin and short compared to my Pro, which i generally just use once a week because of its weight. I love that the Grp is as big as the Pro, and nearly as thick, while being 3 lbs. lighter. It also doesn't have a break-in period like the Pro. This mat is awesome through my daily hot yoga practices, while also giving me the cushioning and support I love for yin. All in all, this was a great investment, and I recommend it to everyone!

I purchased this mat and have enjoyed it tremendously. It is perfect for hot yoga and even a Level 2/3 flow. Once I get sweaty the mat gets sticky and I feel as if all poses are possible.

I teach and practice hot yoga; I use my pro mat and yogitoes. While at the studio, I heard another teacher raving about the GRP. She said it was incredible and that she did not need a yoga towel in the hot room. I already own two PRO mats and I thought that certainly, I am not about to add another mat to my arsenal. Little did I know that I would love this mat so much. Once I tried hers, I was hooked. I immediately ordered the 85 inch and allowed one of my students to use it; he sweats profusely. After class he told me that he was truly surprised when he realized that the mat was able to handle all of his sweat and he did not have to reach for his yoga towel. He said he had kept his towel close by just in case. He has since ordered his own GRP.

Works as advertised, soaks up the sweat and keeps slipping away.

The mat is definitely grippy with sweat, making for a great hold in any position. However, that can work against you if you are trying to rotate while on the mat (ie: rotate feet without lifting them). Also, at some point if you are getting very sweaty the grip loses its effect as the mat saturates and you will need to wipe it down or use a towel for your hands.

I'd bought a GRP when they were first introduced , loved the mat. I practice hot/vinyasa and Ashtanga 6-7 days a week. Consequently my mat tends to dirty quickly. No problem I bought a second GRP some six months later to rotate. My second mat does not perform the same as the first. While it's a good mat( hence 4 stars) it does not absorb moisture like the first one does. You guys change something?

The mat itself is awesome and I use it in a hot yoga class, I don't slip at all!! The only thing is that it did and still does have a smell to it. At first it was very strong, almost like a fishy smell from the rubber. It's getting better as time goes on.

Love the thickness Love the grip the mat has to the floor I always slip, hate to use a towel, and I slip very minimally on this Steel grey color is just fine Perfect for my hot yoga (105 degrees, 40% humidity) I read reviews that the mat does smell funny. It does. I bought Manduka Lavendar Mat spray, so I will see if that helps. It smells fishy/rubbery...

I bought this and because I've had a very hard time finding a hot yoga mat that lasts long enough to be worth the price. For example, I've had a liforme and it only lasted 6 months before I had to get a new mat. The GRP is great so far. I've only used it for a month, however it does feel like quite a substantial mat. The only complaint I have is the thickness. Although, it may be necessary with the charcoal infusion. Overall, I would recommend for daily use, wouldn't recommend for travel.

I really like this mat. It absorbs sweat just as advertised. It has just the right amount of top grip for me. Bottom floor grip is super solid and has never slipped. The activated charcoal has been doing its job for the odor, although it is good to still wipe it down. However, there are 2 downsides to consider: 1) The anti-odor activated charcoal design leaves the mat with its own vague funk, kind of like a fish sandwich that has sat out. It's not overpowering and does not transfer to clothing (why it's not horrible), but I am left to wonder if the yogis next to me can smell it (and thinks it's me). It has not dissipated much in 6 weeks of regular usage and left to air out several times. 2) It must be rolled, not folded. Dense and heavy mats like this are much easier to fold. When I have folded it (inside to inside) and left it even overnight, it sticks like a bejesus and there are now areas that look like wear but where it stuck together, like when you pull up tape and leaves a mark on the wood finish. This has NOT affected performance yet, however.

The GRP mat has an almost leather like texture on the top that doesn't feel particularly slip resistant, but as it heats up (by sun salutation 3 or so) I stick to it more and have no fear of slipping. There's a rubbery odor during the first couple of uses that fades quickly. The bottom of the mat sticks to the floor so well. Sweat absorbs through the top layer quickly. I don't often have the space to lay out my mat after practice, so I do wish it dried a little quicker before storing away. I have used lululemon and B mats, and the amount of grip on the manduka mat is in between the two. I like how I still need to use my fingers for grip, rather than being stuck on my mat without effort. I look forward to practicing on this mat for years to come.

I like this mat, and clean it regularly, but am dissapointed at the smell of it. I have had it for a while and have gone through all of the girations of cleaning, airing, sun, tub etc... its still smells strange... not offensive but it def has a smell about it

Bought the mat in December. The smell was very hefty. But it gets better. I only need a towel at the top of the mat for my hands, otherwise I just slip away. During class I wipe it about twice to take away the sweat. Very stable during standing series. Its a good mat but for a hot class I need a towel.

I purchased this mat several months ago as I practice and teach Bikram and Vinyasa in a heated studio. For me, the mat does not serve as a replacement for a yoga towel during a very sweaty Bikram class. I do enjoy using the mat towel free for lightly heated Vinyasa. However, I still bring a yoga towel for Bikram because by the end of the standing series the mat is usually quite wet and slippery.

I bought this mat about a month ago and after reading the other reviews decided to unroll and keep in the garage to let it off gass. After about a month decided to take it to a yoga class, took the class and it worked great. Yet it did make my feet very dry from absorbing all the moisture. We then went to Brunch and I left it in my friends car. When we Finnish and returned to her car; I kid you not it smelled like something had died and was rotting. It was so bad I was gagging from the smell, and kept insisting that there was a dead rat in her car. After searching high and low we discovered that it was my mat. The smell was soooooo bad. The mat itself is great but Do Not Leave It In Your Car.

This was my first relatively big purchase of a mat. I was super excited when I ordered it! I really like the grippyness of this mat for hot yoga. But the smell is so strong and unpleasant even after two weeks that it's going to have to go back :( it actually makes me nauseous, with or without a towel. Really bummed, but guess I'll try another brand.

I was really looking forward to this mat being that I dislike having to use towels in my practice. Most of the reviews praised the mat for its sweat-wicking ability and non-slippage, however, after a few uses with this mat, I have to say it is definitely slippery! It does provide great cushion and sweat is absorbed right away, but since I wanted a mat where it won't slip it my practice, does mat does not deliver.
