The shoe is just what I expected, but the sole tends to collect dirt and pine straw in its treads. These track into the house. To be fair, this shoe is better than most New Balance Shoes - and - other brands have the same weakness.

I read some old reviews about the tongue being short. Like a NB believer, I figured you would have fixed it by now. NO, why do that when people still buy them. Why? That is how you keep and maintain longtime customers. Get it fixed.

Very, very nice shoe. A good walking shoe, lots of stability. On the flip side, the suede makes it dressy enough to wear with jeans or even khakis and you could stretch it with a sport coat. One down side-New Balance can run narrow in the tow box, even version 3, so be aware before you take them out on the street and may not be able to return them.

I love the shoes but still haven't heard anything about the 10% that I was supposed to get but it would not let me apply it. I could've gotten them cheaper here at home. Not happy that I paid more for them then I needed to!

I love how this shoe looks and it's incredibly comfortable. I do a lot of walking around at work and the shoe is a delight, particularly because it's made in wide sizes. That said, I wear a 10.5 2E in New Balance running shoes, but with this shoe it is just a tad too long. I'd probably order a 10 2E when it's time to replace this one. Also, it's to be expected with a leather shoe, but it scuffs very easily.

Very well made shoe. I wear a 10 1/2 NB running shoe. A size 10 in "walking shoe" was a better fit.

The shoe has a large volume which I can use. I have several size 14, 5/6 E wide and I use my own orthotics along with those inserts provided. Do lots of hiking and backpacking. Several trips involve stream crossings by the dozens and I have used New Balance in the past, so I tried these........they have a stabilizer(?) I guess that is the very hard wedge shaped plate under the heel and forward. Most uncomfortable for me as the shoe will not bend smoothly when walking. Thank you Zappos for the chance to try them. I wish I could find a trail runner like the discontinued NB Leadville.....It has done 4 of the river wading trips.(any ideas)

I usually purchase leather tops but they were not available so I went with a cloth top. It is harder to keep clean. Stick with the leather. Other than that the shoe is very comfortable and worth the cost.

Have been wearing 928s for years. Best shoe I’ve found to help with neuropathy. Didn’t notice a change from 928 to 928V2, but the 928V3 has a tongue that is a half inch shorter - so short that it slips out from under the upper laces after only a few minutes of wear. Wish they had left it longer and charged a bit more rather than trying to cut costs by trimming it. Hope they fix that in V4!

The 928v3 offers great support. The 928 alleviated a lot of my fatigue. They fit right and keep my feet stable. The only down side(for me) are the short tongues

Shoes fit well, just like always, but disappointed in the quality of the leather in the uppers now. Leather is rough and does not take polish well (hard to seal and shine). insoles seem to be not as supportive as before.

I have one artificial hip and the other hip has spots of arthritis. Thus, it can be difficult to walk any distance. I have expanded my exercise routine to include walking. These shoes are really supportive and help a lot. If I had one complaint it would be these need a more cushioned sole but if they did that it probably would lose some of the support. I would recommend to a friend!!

The original 928's where a fantastic shoe. The 928v2 was a disaster...poor fit and uncomfortable. The v3 is much improved.. comfortable and fits well. But as others have stated, for some reason the toung was shortened, and if the top most lace holes are used the toung rubs against the top of the foot.

I was disappointed in the newer version of the 928, New Balance needs to return to the earlier iteration of this shoe. The tongue is too short, making the two eyelets in the back useless. That's a part I need to customize my fit. The toe box seems smaller, again something I need because of previous surgeries. This shoe has gone from being an essential for work to a reason to start shopping for a better shoe. It's a shame.

Extremely comfortable, runs just a sliver long but still worth it. Will just drop half a size next time. And there will be a next time.

I'll say what other people have said: TONGUE TOO SHORT. TONGUE TOO SHORT. TONGUE TOO SHORT. What was the designer thinking? What was management thinking to have approved it? It wasn't like that on earlier versions. Otherwise it's a great shoe. Very comfortable. Its widest size is wide enough to accommodate even my extremely wide feet.

These are a great shoe, but for the money, they should come with a better quality insole. Every time I purchase NB, I have to fork out another chunk of change for a good quality insole. Raise the price of the shoe to cover the extra cost of a good quality insole, and be done. As it is I purchase a pair of shoes which has a decent insole, but have to trash it, when I purchase a better quality one. This method is both a waste of money and resources. Please NB, get with the program. The insole makes the shoe.

After wearing the V3 form a number of weeks I like them. They are closer to the V1 than the V2 ever was (V2 was a horrible shoe!). They were comfortable out of the box and feel great when walking or standing for long periods. I will echo other reviews in that the tongue is way to short. Wish you would produce a 928 leather mid height as you do with the 990

2nd pair of this shoe, original grey suede purchased through a different on-line vendor. Have one pair of V2, which certainly is not as comfortable for extended walks as this version. Great casual walking shoe made/designed for everyday wear, as well.
