I walk up and down a ramp in and out of a tractor trailer as well as in and out of fast food restaurants. These shoes are super comfortable. The only down fall I have with them is I wear low socks and the back has rubbed my skin above my heal so much it's turned into like a callous.

Preffered New Balance style for years. Working at a construction company, I looked into the composite toe to be able to go project sites without having to have x2 sets of shoes. Shoe is heavy, has a large lift on the heal (almost 2" at one point). I recommend it to anyone that needs a steel or composite toe for work. Not the shoe for sports.

When I ordered these composite toe shoes I thought I would be getting a tougher athletic shoe. It is technically a work shoe. I have only worn them a few time but so far these shoes appear to be made very well. They are on the heavy side but work shoes tend to be that way. The no slip sole works very well on wet surfaces.

The size feels great but I will need to put insoles in them. I am flat footed so these feel ok. See the picture and you see I got a defective pair but since I work at a machine shop I'm not gonna fret.

Cause of composite toe, I expected that it would be lighter shoe but not...

get the 1/2 size larger than Normal shoe size to accommodate the safety toe box. The heal padding is a bit thin but the addition of aftermarket padding helps.

Very comfortable. Fit is accurate. Wish they would last a tad longer. However, I am hard on the shoes.

I work on concrete all day, I have had a different brand of athletic style safety shoes - with an aluminum toe. I bought these specifically because of the composite toe thinking they would be lighter, however, they are surprisingly heavier. They are comfortable and seem well made, though.

I feel that this shoe needs better cushioning on the sole. I bought gel inserts to replace the inserts that came with them. The shoe is much more comfortable now. I stand on my feet most of my work day and on a concrete floor so a soft sole is vital to my feet's comfort. I have a pair of New Balance 847 shoes that I wore to work several times and I didn't have nearly as much discomfort.

I work in kitchens and stand on my feet all day. Sometimes even more than 16 hours. I do everything from ordering/recieving to making ice cream. I am for the most part very satisfied with these shoes. I personally would like something very similar but also more water resistant. I understand these were not supposed to be water resistant shoes. They are also Slip Resistant enough for kitchens as well. I didn't think this was mentioned in the shoes description enough but I'm glad they are. Thank you New Balance for continuing to develop shoes for the work place!

It has been about two weeks and I am more than satisfied. These shoes are light weight, supportive and have good traction. I have been wearing protective toe shoes for over 30 years and these are comfortable. They feel like New Balance took an athletic shoe and put a composite toe in it. The soles are solid but still flex a little. A stiffer than a running shoe. So they have a synthetic mesh covering and eyelets like a running shoe, holes punched through the material. These are not your heavy leather work boots with brass eyelets or waterproof linings. My work can get dusty at times and so I don't like the mesh covering and how the dust can settle on them. But I can use low pressure air to blow them clean. I don't think they are a year a round shoe either since I work outside and my work shoes/boot can get wet at times. And with the mesh covering I don't think they are either warm or waterproof. I have walked on wet, oily cement surfaces and they seemed secure in traction. If I needed another warm weather work shoe, I would buy these again. By the time I need to replace these I am sure they will be discontinued or upgraded. They are lightweight , if you need more protection, ie leather covering, waterproof lining, heavier covering you'll have to look elsewhere. Oh the size, I'm wearing other New Balance in the same size and being able to get an extra wide 4E! My Feet are not screaming at me at the end of the day.

Very comfortable shoe when I first out on however they do run a little more narrow than other shoes. Had to send first order back and get wide width. Fortunately Zappos has fantastic service making it very easy to do so.

These shoes showed up with a blemish in the mesh above the right big toe area but I needed them right away so I kept them the hard toe is not as wide as it is in the 412 so not consistent across different lines of shoes I'm a 14 4E and they are against my toes on both sides but not to the point of having to jam them in the 412 gave me a little room on either side I use these shoes for work as an ATM tech so far the toe has held up better then the 412 which started to come apart very quickly over all I do like the shoes and will probably get them again but I wasn't happy that these were not included in their sale then they did not show up absolutely perfect they do go through the metal detector at the airport so if that is something you need they are good for that

The sizing is off my normal is 17, it appears that this shoe runs smaller. My last pair, the steel toe model 627 v2 size is correct, plenty of room. the 589v1 my toes touch the end.
