Altra TMP is very comfortable and truly durable. Zero toe cramping or bunching. The fit and traction are top notch.

Love the wide toe box and the flexibility. For a shoe with max cushioning, they are flexible and wonderfully lightweight . I am female and wear 81/2 wide. These size 8 in men’s are a great fit for me and are bunion accommodating,

I buy a men's shoe because the sizing gives me more room in the toe box and width. Difficult to find men's 7 and the Timp Trail is the perfect fit for me. Thank you Zappo's for allowing me free shipping options on purchase and returns. Trial and error finally paid off.

Very comfortable shoe. I don't jog. The sneakers are for casual all day wear. Thick soles keep the comfort and bounce. My foot size is 12.5. I use 13 for footwear as my second toe extends farther than my big toe. Sneaker width is perfect. My foot doesn't rub nor squeezed. This is my second pair and plan on a third when needed. The extended lip at the rear of the sole makes the sneaker easy to remove -We like to use one of our feet for holding the shoe at the rear while we pull the other out.
The sneaker is stylish; it gets its own attention. Onlookers comment on the lace hookup holes. They like how they're offset.
Great sneaker!

I will start by saying Altra shoes are the best running shoes I have worn, by far! I have very wide feet and neuropathy in the balls and toes of both feet. I run between 150-200 miles per month. My usual training shoe is the Olympus 2.5. I love that shoe, but... the lateral cushion compresses to the point I can no longer wear the shoe after 400 miles.I do have some supination but it is not significant. I have just retired my first pair of TIMP's. The cushion is not as significant as the Olympus 2.5 but the cushion has not compressed on the lateral edge. I ran 700 miles on the TIMP and now wear them for a work shoe. One additional thing,I can not wear the Olympus after I retire it. The TIMP is a great trail shoe. The cushion is not so high that my ankle rolls on a trail run or race.

For years now, I've been making due with 4E trail shoes from another company because I have the widest feet ever, and a legit and painful bunion that reflects a lifetime of not finding shoes that fit.
Was on the fence about Altras for the past year, because I thought that no way they would be wide enough -- but their customer service was very helpful, and their return policy inspiring, so I decided to try.
The Timps are the best running shoe I've ever worn, trail or road. In all conditions, the outsole inspires confidence on the trail, and I've never had a shoe that fit better. I still believe that shoes get too much attention when it comes to injuries, etc., but I can also say after a season of injuries (ankle, Achilles, plantar fasciitis), and now running in these shoes, that my injuries were at least due in part to the lack of proprioception in my feet when they were compressed in shoes that, again, were labeled "4E." The difference is night and day to me out on the trail. Despite being super cush, the Timps allow me a groundfeel I haven't experienced outside of really minimalist shoes. And I love the zero drop: I didn't realize it, but in comparison it felt like my other shoes were fighting my natural foot fall, and, I have to assume, causing inefficiencies I'm sure I ended up feeling, especially on ultraruns.
And the Timps are just so thoughtfully designed. Reviews I've read have questioned the wraparound reflective material on a trail shoe, but as someone who loves dirt road runs from home at night, I appreciate it. And the built-in gaiter attachments are genius.
I couldn't be happier, and look forward to trying other shoes from Altra, starting with Escalante.

I would sleep in these shoes if they weren't so dirty from wearing them all day. Bought them less than a week ago and have absolutely fallen in love with them. I've worn them in a variety of conditions and uses and have found them to be a great all-around shoe. I've had surgery on both feed and I wear orthodics, so it's hard to find shoes that fit and are supportive. The Timp is perhaps the #1 shoe I've ever found for comfort.

Yes !! I am back on the Altra band-wagon! The post 2.0 Lone-Peaks and Superior were (I hope) an anomaly. The Timp returns to the full foot-shape design that got me back into running. The cushioning and grip are also ideal. And I love the offset lacing system. This may be the best trail running shoe I have ever had. Great job, Altra! Please keep a shoe like this in your lineup permanently...

The Timps are like Altra's of old! Wide toe box, but decent width in the mid foot too. I used to wear Lone Peaks (1.5's were my favorite), but they narrowed them up so much in later versions that I couldn't get my orthotics or foot into them!
If you have a wide, high volume foot these will work and they have a perfect level of cushioning. The only negative is that the tongue is on the thin side. Altra: please put more padding in the tongue in the Timp 1.5, but don't mess them up by making them narrower to fit the masses!

I’ve been dealing with a hip injury so I haven’t put these to a real test yet, but great comfort so far. Once I get on the trail they should do great the 0% drop is a nice feature and natural toe box seems really nice, I’ve always worn Nike for road running and these maybe my new favorite. My only qualms with these are the colors, I just wish I could get a brighter color but that’s not really a huge issue especially since I’m trail running and they’re probably going to get muddy anyways.

LOVE this shoe!
I have high arches and a wide forefoot. I bought Birkenstock's athletic shoe arch support inserts and put them in this shoe to get the arch support I want. Additionally, although I am a woman, I bought this shoe in a men's to get a little extra width. My feet are in heaven!
The cushion and grip of these shoes make my feet very comfortable and make me feel more sure footed. I wear these to walk on the treadmill at the gym as well as during general all day running around doing errands, and I never notice any foot or leg discomfort. I didn't have any problems adjusting to the zero drop. I would encourage anyone to give these a try! Great toe box room for toe splay and unrestricted metatarsal movement. Thanks to Zappos unparalleled service, I was able to try just about every style in the Altra running shoe line (I even discovered I was able to go down 1/2 size in this shoe). Thank you, Zappos for making another loyal customer extremely happy with this purchase!
I'd also recommend:

I use the shoe mostly for hiking and walking and it has been very good for both of those activities. The sole is very stiff and that has been great for me. The sole is grippy and the upper is comfortable. I have sized down a half size from the Olympus which I use for running. I really like the shoe and would purchase it again.

I was not real sure about what size to order as some of my shoes are different sizes, and with reading the reviews... and guess what? They came in PERFECT SIZE. PERFECT FIT. AND I LOVE THE ALTRA , they are awesome! I will be ordering more of these! Please never quit selling them now that I have found a great shoe I would like to keep it!
Thank you Zappos for making my Christmas a much better one this year! Merry Christmas to you each!

Love these TIMP's! I used to have the old Lone Peaks but they changed the last and couldn't find another comfortable shoe anywhere... Then the Timp's appeared and I'm all set again. Hopefully they won't make any drastic changes, and if they do, i'll be buying a truckload full of these to last through the years!!!

Wide toe box, sweet spot cushioning, sturdy but comfortable upper with minimum overlays, great grip for the trails - I think the Timp is the best trail running shoe on the market.
Altra has listened to its customers and really got this one close to perfect (not sure about the rudder, or the need for reflectivity on the trail though).
This shoe has brought me back to Altra.
The latest versions of both the Olympus and Lone Peak have deteriorated, with a much narrower and more shallow toe-box, and some cumbersome overlays that end up pressing on feet and toes that are swollen from longer runs.
The Timp reverts to the fit, feel and performance that loyal customers expect from Altra.
PLEASE, don't mess this up in future iterations.
This shoe reverts to Altra's roots, with a combination of incredible comfort and function. Again, this shoe is too good to mess with, except for maybe a couple of simple cosmetic changes.

Very happy with the Altra Timp so far. What I like most is the comfortable fit. I have wide feet and these are the most comfortable shoes I have worn. I run long trail runs and the Timp does a great job keeping my feet from hurting. One thing Altra did correctly for the Timp is to make the soles angle slightly down around the edge of the shoe. Many shoes cup the forefoot in the sole which can be extremely painful if you have wide feet and the ball or your foot rides onto the sole ridge. The soles have good traction in mud (widely spaced lugs) and do okay on rocks and dirt. The rubber compound is a little slick though so they can slip on roots, wood bridges or slippery wet rocks. So far I have run about 50 miles in my Timps and no tears yet which is great. I am hopeful they will last since they are so comfortable but know that Altra struggles with durability. Other than potential durability issues the only problem I have had is the insoles slide forward when running downhill in a lot of rain (a little rain is okay but during a downpour the insole will slide forward). I hope altra does not change the fit or sole of this shoe. I would be happy if Altra improves the insole slippage and makes them durable enough to last at least 300 trail miles. I hope they are not completely redesigned with a narrow or uncomfortable fit since the fit and comfort make them a fantastic shoe overall.

As a loyal altra customer, I was not disappointed by this latest release. My last two pairs of trail shoes were the lone peak 2.5s (I bought a second pair shortly after the first because I liked them so much). The biggest upgrade from the lone peak is the increased cushioning- my runs felt like they had more flow, and I was less aware of every little rock and root under my feet.
As for sizing, I wear a 12 in most brands but have consistently worn 12.5 in altras. I ordered a 12.5 of timps and when I first put these on, they felt quite loose. The asymmetrical lacing may have something to do with this. I started my first run fully expecting them to be sloppy, loose, and destined for a return. I was pleasantly surprised- half a mile in and I forgot I was wearing them.
Two months later, my timps are still going strong. No signs of abnormal wear or damage. I have had issues with the durability of altra road shoes, but in my experience their trail shoes have been significantly more durable and longer lasting.
Overall I am very pleased with this shoe and would highly recommend it.

After cancer treatment of 9-10 mnonth's I was left with the bottoms of BOTH feet being num. I have SPENT a small fortune on shoes an could find NOTHING that helped. At this time I have ( 8 ) pair an could not be any more happy. I find that the HIGH to MAX. cushion are the best. With a very high arch an num its a real trick to have any COMFORT. From where I sit I ( wish ) you made more designs with the added cushion. OUTSTANDING products.

I began by searching for a pair of athletic shoes that would help my severe supination and ended up buying a pair of Altra Timps. I read rave reviews on Altra shoes and thought, "Come on, how good can these be?" Well, I just got these bad boys and let me tell you, these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. My feet, especially my right foot with the supination issues, feel great...and I do mean great. I'm a believer and a convert and I will never buy any other shoes than Altra in the future.

Yesterday I completed the Marquette Mi 100k with these shoes. Always ran in lone peaks but figured I would try a little more cushion. Overall Im happy with the performance. The upper mesh stayed dry when I did hit mud and water they dried quickly. My lone peaks always seemed wet. Grip was excellent over the rocks and hill climbs. I think I sold a few pair to other racers.

I have a high arch with a thick instep and need a cushioned shoe. But, my tendancy to roll out at the heel means I need a stable outside edge. Before this shoe I had to compromise. This shoe takes the cushion of a Hoka Stinson and puts it with the heel stability of a Salomon XA 3D Ultra! Pure engineering genius! No more compromise between lateral stability and cushion. Thank you. I will continue to buy these as long as I have feet. Or as long as you make them. I have purchased a spare pair just in case.

I struggle with Mortons Neuroma and my toe and foot is usually killing me by the end of a run. Ran in these today for the first time and it's the first time I ran pain free in a couple of years. The shoes fit like slippers and your feet and fit are simply just the way they are meant to be. These shoes climb hills like a fat tire on a mountain bike. Strong, steady and smooth. Tried to run in Lone Peaks several years ago but they just did not have enough cushioning for my achey knees after 5 surgeries. The cushioning in these feel a lot better and the fit really enables you to get into a good cadence. Feel really nimble on the single track and no effort at all clearing roots and rocks. Time will tell but I have the feeling these will only get better with time.

I've been a huge fan of the Lone Peak for many years (since the 1.0 back in '12!) and recently started using the Olympus for 100 mile ultra runs. The Timp has combined my favorite things about both these shoes, and also has the delicious width of the Torin across the toes. THESE ARE MY NEW FAVORITE SHOES! Fingers crossed the uppers hold up and the soles last a good long time, because these fit my feet like a glove. Fresh outta the box I took these for a 12 mile/5k vert run up my local mountain trail and was absolutely smitten with the feel. Super plush underfoot, spacious toe box, and an interesting lacing pattern that felt really good across the top of my foot. Lugs gripped like talons, and they're wicked light for this much cushion.
