The fit and size of this Hoka shoe was perfect. Length a perfect 10 given relative to most of size 10's I wear. Shoe certainly wide enough (I can't wear hardly any Nike shoes) without being sloppy wide; I am a medium to wider width, a retired professional athlete. Toe box good enough- again, wider than a "regular" sneaker, but not as wide as some zero drop sneakers. This shoe, although "cushiony" is not made to compensate for obesity. Please consider buying New Balance with their extra wide widths. One has to remember, that folks write reviews for all sorts of reasons, many less to do with understanding a sneaker's limitations and usage. This is not, and was never meant to be a high mileage trainer. I wear this sneaker mostly for comfort and looks doing rounds at the hospital on Sundays. It's classy enough, fits well and well worth considering if you are already in the market for what Hoka has to offer. I also run my dogs in the woods on the dirt trails with this shoe. This shoe represents a good balance between performance and comfort and style.

I'm an active below-knee amputee, and Hokas have been a life saver with the extra cushion under my prosthetic leg. This is my fourth pair, and it's my favorite hands down. I've been wearing them for about a week. I've done some light running and hiking, and they're perfect. The fit (wide) is incredible, the cushioning is just what you'd expect from Hoka, and the neutral arch support is perfect for both feet. I'll likely be ordering and extra pair or two just to ensure I have backup pairs.

This version of the Clifton ruined everything that made the 3 such an awesome shoe. The 4 is a disaster. Stiff and unforgiving. Narrow is an understatement. Feels like a vice on your foot. I am not sure what Hoka was thinking when they released this version. It is terrible shoe.

I have bought Clifton 1, 2,3 and 4. As much as I hate to say it, Clifton 4 is the poorest. They took a perfect shoe and screwed it up. Sometimes I think shoe designers feel obligated to change something so they can call it new and raise the price. I will gladly pay you more if you bring back the Clifton 3. Looks like I will have to try a different brand.

Absolutely awful. The Clifton one and two were great. The three was uncomfortable and the four is unwearable. Back to ASICS.

Still the great comfort I have come to expect from Hoka. Durability was not what I have come to expect from Hoka. The tread wear of the Clifton 4 was much more accelerated than in previous versions. I have 150 miles on these shoes and the mid-foot wear is down to the base of the tread. Not acceptable in my book. I hope this is not what I should expect in future versions.

The Clifton 4s are so much NARROWER than the prior Cliftons! Why would you significantly narrow the width of a specific style of shoe from one version to the next? Way to ruin a good thing.

Having worked with Hoka shoes before, I knew that I had to order a larger size and a wider width to fit my foot and my comfort needs. I like extra room in my toe box. I have a "duck foot" so I need a wider width at the top yet need the shoes to not be too big at my narrow heel. These shoes work perfectly for that. They also have the perfect combination of comfort and support. Again - per my current and past experience - Hoka's run smaller and are narrower than you might anticipate. Because I knew this, I got the exact shoe I wanted and needed. I LOVE THEM!

Shoe fit perfectly, it is the first shoe that i wore in recent years where I didn't have to break them in and enjoy walking in them. I use the shoes as everyday shoes (when I'm not wearing working boots)...

Great shoe for the price. Wide for people with weird feet like me and with a lot of support. Love this shoe.

I'm 6'-1"/215 lbs, early 60's, and have always labored to run. I've worn Nike and Asics (Gel Kayano 20) in the past, but I'd always experience shin splints and/or calf tightness, so I'd stop running. A friend recommended Hoka's and I purchased the Clifton 4's because they were on sale. I'm not a running shoe expert and not exactly sure the reason, but I no longer feel discomfort, nor shin splints when I run! I think it's the thicker soles on these shoes. It's like running with cushions on my feet! I ran (jogged, actually) five miles yesterday and my feet and legs felt great! Highly recommend!

I was given a pair of Clifton 4 a few years ago. I am /was a large man 300lbs now 220. I loved the shoes. my knees and feet stopped hurting after running. I have had several other brands and none have ever come close to how the 4's feel. I bought a pair of Clifton 5's and felt they were tighter on the width then the 4. I found the 4's on here in my size and ordered my third pair. Heaven for my feet. Im just worried that I won't be able to buy them again because of newer models.

I was struggling with shin splints and was recommended Hoka's. Absolutely changed the game for me, this is my favorite running shoe I've ever owned. Definitely going to stick with Hoka's moving forward.

I wear my Hokas for work primarily so the color selection is not appropriate in the women's color schemes but I buy men's and it works. I also wear these pretty much all the time at work. I have recommended them to many people.

Hoka has become tongue stingy in many styles. I'm glad that some tongues are long enough.

I have another pair of discontinued Clifton 4s and like them so much that I wanted another before they're unavailable. I love the cushioning and the fit, as well as the design. I've never found a pair of athletic shoes that offers this degree of cushioning.
