Overall this is a good looking bag. very slim profile and seems to be made with quality materials. Thoughtful design touches throughout.
Things i do not like.
-The straps seem short, they are fine for me, I am 5'9" 190. Someone a little larger than me might run out of strap length adjustment.
-The sternum strap is hard to adjust the height. You don't slide it up an down like other bags, you have to unsnap and resnap into designated places. Also as I mentioned above the straps seem short so i am already on the bottom most sternum strap placement.
-These are minor things to me, but for a larger person it might be a deal breaker.
-Zippers are not that smooth and feel slightly cheap.
-Main Pocket is nice, but the zippers do not come down very far on the sides, so you cannot open the bag very far. I would say the zipper openings only come down maybe 30% down the side. I would like the zippers to come down further so I can access stuff down low easier.
-Laptop Compartment seems really nice and roomy, but this is a similar complaint to the main compartment. The zippered opening is not that big. I would like it to open a little more.
-The bottom buckles seems to make some noise. They kind of clang against each other even when closed.
-The bag seems pretty comfortable, but I have not fully loaded it yet.
-Organization seems decent.
- Water bottle pocket seems like it will work well. I have not put anything in there yet.

This is a really nice sleek-looking bag. Fits my laptop perfectly. I bought it to replace the Timbuk2 Luxe bag (that is very sadly discontinued - please bring this back!!!). The major dealbreaker flaws with the Authority pack like many people have said is that first it is not designed for right-handed people. It's awkward when you are trying to reach for the zipper while wearing the bag. Second, there is only one bottle holder, just like others have said, I like two bottle holders- one for water and one for coffee. Lastly, its more of a business professional bag than an all-purpose bag (gym, clothes, laptop, travel, etc.) See why I miss the Luxe bag? It had all of these features.

have you thought about which arm you take out to swing your bag around to get quick access? is it to the right to to your left? i swing my bag around to my right to quickly access or put away things. so with this bag's vertical compartment being to the left, i can't. wish i can move that so i can access swinging my bag to the right.
i want to move the water bottle to the other side, and put an extra pouch where the water bottle is.
the little pouch on the top outside... the little horizontal one... the zipper is hard for me to open. need to add a zipper pull there.

Great bag, I I wish in the the future will this will be updated to include a bit sturdier zippers, and pockets with straps/covers to keep items in place. Highly recommend. Kept the old Timbuk2 for three years until it got too scuffed.

This is a really stylish bag with lots of storage. It was also able to fit my 15.6" laptop from work. The only issue I have with it so far is that the side zipper on the very front pocket is more catered to a person who wears the bag over his/her left shoulder. I put my work badge in that pocket and I shoulder the bag over to my right, so when I try to swing the bag over the front the zipper is pointed to the bottom, which makes it hard for me to pull out my badge without other things in that pocket falling out. Just wanted to point this out to people who shoulder the bag on the right.

I used this bag for a few weeks traveling to and from work with other errand runs in between. Overall, I think this is a solid backpack. It is made very well, has LOTS of pockets, and seems like it can take a beating after continuous use. Going back to the pockets, I think there might be too many. At times I found myself forgetting which of the many pockets I placed things in and ended up opening everything. I think if it had one less compartment I would have been happier. I also was hoping to break it in quicker, as it is very stiff which I believe is to protect the contents of the bad. That is not a pro or con, just something I noticed. I don't see this bag as an everyday use for me, as I am only taking the train to work. I would definitely use this more for if I were biking around or traveling as I am assuming this bag was made for.

Excellent backpack, with lots of thoughtful pockets and a very stylish design. My only complaints are:
-Because of the thin (but durable and lightweight) material, the top front sags significantly when the main compartments aren't fully loaded (exacerbated by the weight of the items I have in the organization pockets)
-As a result of this, the already grabby and stiff zippers don't open smoothly, and I have to pinch the excess fabric to smoothly open and close them; same with the sunglasses pocket
I understand that these are probably necessary evils from the waterproof zippers and lightweight design, but still something to mention, especially coming from my old eBags Professional Laptop Slim, which held its shape no matter the load and had the smoothest zippers I've ever used. On the other hand, it was heavy and definitely not waterproof, so I don't regret the switch!

Great backpack with lots of pockets, great potential for organizational nerds. Construction feels really solid. One less star for two things:
1. Even at the longest, shoulder straps are kind of short, you have to wear the backpack pretty high on your back which is not always the best.
2. The foam in contact with your back is just weird. It's supposed to be comfortable for your back, I assume, but it just doesn't work for me.

This is a solid backpack. I am using it primarily commuting to and from work. I have used it while biking as well and forgot it was on my back while I was on the ride. It is a very lightweight but made from very durable materials. The color is more of black with a charcoal/slate gray feel to it, instead of a true jet black like other Timbuk2 bags. It is compact but expands and holds much more than you would think it would. I was looking for a backpack that was good for traveling for weekend trips and commuting and although I have not flown on a plane with it yet I think it will do the job with its compact design and various pockets. I am hoping it is waterproof for those rainy days. Overall I am happy with the backpack overall.

Just the right size for school. There is a dedicated padded pocket that's great for my laptop. I wish the front horizontal pocket was slightly wider to fit my glasses case but there is an additional vertical front pocket I can use. The chrome looking buckles add some flash to what is a mostly a traditional classic backpack.

This is a great bag for someone who carries a laptop on a daily basis and has a hankering for keeping things organized. My favorite feature of this bag is the external access to the laptop compartment from the top of the bag (just ahead of the straps). Great for pulling your laptop out on the train and quickly stowing it again without any hassle; I've had a few backpacks in the past that had this feature and it was the best thing about them. The main compartment is pretty roomy; large enough to fit two 12 packs of canned beer. And then the third compartment is dedicated to organization, having numerous pockets for cords, cables, battery packs, etc. This pack is a solid choice for a commute bag; lots of features wrapped up in a smart package that presents well in an professional environment.

Pockets! This is a great pack for commuting to work with a separate pocket for your laptop and enough space for a change of clothes. The only reason I won't give this pack a 5 is that some of the front pockets are a little snug for my iphone 6 plus (it still fits you just have to wiggle it in there). Great compartments and the styling is very clean. Great work backpack!

Super organized, love that the computer pocket has its own pocket / zipper in the back & not part of the "big pack pack compartment" + for water bottle older on the side & extra small pocket on front for keys / wallet/ mints.

I'm a daily commuter in Chicago to work via train. I've been using this bag with this purpose I. Mind. I typically am carrying a laptop and accessories - chargers, umbrella, pens, notebook, and sunglasses. I have a bad back and prefer backpacks to other options like messenger bags.
What I like: the bag is incredibly slim which is great for a crowded train. On the other hand, the bag also expands so it can fit a pair of shoes and gym clothes. The organizer compartment has lots of pockets. The laptop compartment is very well paded. The bag looks pretty good and is comfortable overall.
What I don't like: my daily annoyance is that the bag doesn't stand upright on its own even when fully expanded. You have to lean it against something to have it upright. The clasps on the bottom of the bag that control expandibility are metal (unlike the other claps) and can jangle as you walk. The back contor is very straight, which is fine, but I would have preferred something more form fitting.

I've had this bag for about 2 years now and it's served me quite well - it's extremely durable and shows almost no signs of wear. However, a very annoying feature is the placement of the plastic strap adjusters. When I am wearing short sleeves and have the straps adjusted to a comfortable length, the plastic adjusters end up right against my upper arms and rub uncomfortably against them when I'm walking - I'm 5'5" for reference. Overall, it is still a great backpack, but it's a shame that I'm not able to wear it comfortably with most of my outfits.

Backpack is great. Compact, high quality, solid storage. 3 stars because customer service was really bad. Ordered it and was told I'd receive it in 4-7 business days, which I was planning on because it aligned to the start date with my new job. On the 8th business day I emailed support asking where it was. I did not get a response, only tracking info for my backpack, which had not yet shipped. Obviously they forgot about my order and didn't ship it yet, which I would've gotten over. But they didn't even respond to my email to issue an apology or let me know what was going on. So it's a great product, but terrible customer service.

I purchased this to replace another backpack (Osprey, and TNF). I also have used a Tumi bag for a while in the interim. The bag looks great. I like the design and details. The straps are comfortable. It is long and thin. The laptop sleeve is big - I use a MBP and it falls way down inside - not a real issue but its a big pocket. My gripe and the reason I had to return it was that the middle pocket - the largest one is very slim - I could put in my folio and some folders. Possibly a thinly folded sweater or fleece. There is no way to get a lunch or other bulky item into this. I didn't care much for the water bottle holder either - it feels fragile and only holds a slimmer water bottle - I use a 24oz hydro flask. No way a 32 oz will fit, and I'm not sure it will hold up long due to its location and attachment. I'll keep looking....

I would have purchased this bag, but it had the tiniest place to hold a water bottle. My Takeya glass bottle wouldn't fit.

We air traveled to 26 cites last year for work and this bag went to all. It's been tested. The good is it's efficient and comfortable. My laptop and hard drive backups have been safe. It's wearing well and not looking tattered. The water bottle pouch is too small for bottle but does fit my umbrella. Things I would change. I cut the large metal exterior buckles and straps off immediately and added high density charcoal foam to the bottom of main pocket to protect contents (often several hard drives). Buckles: I know they're inspired by actual backpacking bags... The only thing that would go there maybe is a jacket in the winter and still I wouldn't. You set the bag on the floor - I don't want my jacket sitting on the floor. Those buckles are a bad attempt at eye candy. They seem to have kinda addressed my biggest gripe by adding a "deluxe" version - you have to be able to put this over your carry on handle to get through an airport. The deluxe has a single strap... I've seen far more thoughtful solutions with other companies. They tack sew a strap from either side and call it a new bag.... Rather than offer two versions, just update this one and get it right. This bag is close. I really want it to be as road warrior functional as it is concerned with being good looking.

The backpack is very high quality with lots of pockets. The part that hits your back is very stiff and cushioned so it is almost made for traveling versus commuting. I wish it weren't as padded so that the backpack isn't 'stiff.' This backpack will stand up by itself as a rectangle due to the stiffness of the back. Also, the "dark black" in the photo doesn't represent the true color. It looks like a nice grey in the photo, but when I received it, the color was a dark grey/black. In other words, the photo in the picture doesn't match the color choice you are given. All in all, this is a sturdy backpack, but pricey. For business travelers, this is a good choice. For everyday commuters, it is bit overkill. Like taking a small suitcase on your back.
