Straight out of the box, these boots did not need to be broken in. I used them recently (October 2021) in Colorado where I hiked the Morrison Slide trail and they were just perfect. They offer ankle protection from the constant ankle turning rocks that never quite twist your ankle completely, but just enough to make you hurt later if you are wearing mids or trail runners. The traction is completely confidence inspiring. I've owned many other boots from Merrell and other companies, and these were the easiest to use out of the box and have been the best companions. I have the Elk/Red/Black ones and they honestly look beautiful too. I've used these for snow shoeing and for general hiking on flat wet grassy and muddy areas and they are perfect. Honestly, after wearing them and caring for them for two years, they look brand new except for a few scratches on the plastic part between the sole and the suede from sliding them across rocks. You can clean the mud from the treads in the sink. I'm recommending the female version to my gf for our upcoming hiking trip to Utah. 10/10. Most trail runner shoes lately have been running a 12 for me when before I've always been an 11.5 most of my adult life. These are 11.5 and fit true. These are slightly bulky for casual wear, so if you're just getting them for school or the mall, I don't know. I usually forget I'm wearing them until I have to drive. They are extremely comfortable.

Good looking pair of boots and very comfortable. Not crazy about the red laces, so I changed them out but other than that very satisfied with my purchase

I have wide feet and have been looking a long time for Columbia to start selling wide shoes. These are great. Me feet don't swim in them, nor are they being squished from being too narrow. I may have gotten them a size too large but these are great fitting shoes.

I was so pleased with my first pair of hiking boots that when they disintegrated after many years of use, this was my only choice for a replacement pair. Great quality, great craftsmanship, great comfort, long-lasting.

This is one of the best pair of boots I bought in a long time

i wear these more for work than anything else. they're one of the more comfrotable boots i've found. they've got a soft rubber sole that wears out quickly on anything outside of dirt. The insole could be better but for the price i'm not complaining. i buy 1 pair a year because i put a lot of miles on them on pavement.

I just received these and was worried as usual about buying online boots and the sizing. I am an 8 1/2 M and these boots were a perfect fit. Very comfortable. I have not worn them enough to state their longevity, but the sizing is perfect, and they are very comfortable. For the price I will probably be buying a spare pair.

Bought the Newton Ridge for my husband who loves them due to the support and comfort right out of the box. The Newton Ridge is a great walking and hiking boot.

Love these boots! GREAT FIT/FEEL out of the box. No break in period. My size was spot on. Haven't tested the 'waterproofness' yet but so far I could not be happier. Now, hopefully they last as long as the Columbia shoe they replaced. I had my old pair easily for 8 years. Wore them daily, and played countless rounds of disc golf in them.

This is probably the 6th pair of these that I have owned over the last several years. These are an excellent shoe, wide in the toe and foot ball area. Great support and padding. This is the first pair of blue suede shoes I have ever owned, Elvis would be proud. I work in an industrial field and these have great life. The new style shoe strings are much better quality than those a few seasons back. Will buy again.

Boots fit very nicely. They feel very soft and need very little break-in period. Excellent value for the cost.
