I purchased the Chilkat III (3rd generation) in size US10. I have wide feet and they are comfortable. I also wear Salomon hikers and Reebok cross trainers in size 10, so my opinion is that the sizing is true. The insulation layer is a very firm medium thickness to keep your feet warm, extending into the entire toe box which puts a small pressure on the tops of your feet. This may be why other owners felt the sizing to feel small. I've so far only had a chance to wear them a couple of times, but the initial (high) quality seems up to par with other North Face products I own. I am keeping my fingers crossed that complaints about the rubber cracking after a few years from other owners for earlier versions of this boot have been resolved in this 3rd generation. Walking the dog I didn't feel any slipping on ice pellet covered snow, but can't report on the "IcePick" sole performance on black ice yet (which for me will be the acid test). The gaiter loop at the front of the boot is a nice touch, but likely won't ever get used by me.

I needed new snow boots for my dad because he works durinh the winter shoveling and plowing snow. He loved them!

These boots are perfect for our cold Michigan winters. Very durable and warm. They do run about a half size small. We ordered a half size up and they fit perfect! Though he is using them for snow boots, they are really stylish with jeans.

I haven't used them yet, other than to check the fit. Lets see how they perform in the winter.

I needed a new pair of winter snow boots and saw these on-line. They do run about a size smaller than your normal shoe size so if you wear a 10 you will want an 11 to accommodate thicker socks. They are easy to take on and off and unlike some boots have the lace locking hubs to get then tight if you want or if left loose and partially laced can be used to slip on and off for quick trips outside to empty garbage etc. Plan to use these for all purpose winter snow boots and for recreational snowshoeing. They are surprisingly light for their size and a great value, especially at the end of the year on sale!

I bought these boots as a gift my dad. He is picky and does not like the color black too much for clothing and shoes, so these were the perfect balance for him (I ordered the Mudpack Brown/Bombay Orange boots). Turns out he needed a half size larger than he normally does for these boots to fit well, but once he received his size he loved them! We live in NYC and received these just in time for a blizzard that hit last week :-)

Walked around all day in freezing, slushy snow in upper Michigan! Kept warm the entire time!

Purchased these for a ski trip in Colorado. Very comfortable, and warm. I had to order 1.5 size bigger than I normally wear.

Fantastic boots! Wear them when I'm on ski trips. I'm up in the mountains a lot in the winter since I'm an avid skier and this is the best snow boot I have found. Warm and comfy! Would highly recommend.
