I use this for everything. From an insulation layer when skiing, hikes, climbing trips, or out about in town. I like that it has a durable wet resistant finish and is warmer then how light it feels. It also breaths really well.

I practically live in this thing now. Absolutely one of the best and most versatile pieces of clothing I've ever purchased.

I haven't taken this thing off since I got it last month. Literally, throw this on over a t-shirt and I'm good down to the 40s, or up to 60s. More windproof than I expected, and still super breathable; I almost never overheat.
My only comment is that I wish I had it in Green; the Black blends in, but I like to stand out (just a little).

This is by far my favourite jacket, i bring it everywhere, it is simply perfect for almost every situation. SURPISINGLY WARM! I was blown away by the warmth/weight ration of this jacket, despite being quite thin and breathable! Great city/casual jacket, and amazing midlayer for colder winter days. Everyone needs this jacket in their roster!

Since purchasing this jacket it has replaced 2 of my regular options in the closet. This jacket has exceeded my expectations as a west coast winter jacket in terms of warm, wet/wind resistance and breathability. I run warm and this can work with a light shirt and regular activities. Layer if your camp vibing. Another solid piece from OR

This product fits great. I've had issues with other OR products with sizes and cuts, but an XL Trim fit is perfect for my 6' 220 lb thick frame. With a base-layer and a shell its a perfect mid-layer for skiing. I've worn this jacket and a base-layer skiing on 32 degree + days, and been perfectly comfortable as well. if I'm being very active i can wear this and a base layer on sub 32 degree days as well. I was considering buying the ascendant jacket instead of the hoody because i thought maybe the hood would get in the way, but its very compressible and actually add some extra warmth around my neck. I was also impressed that the hood was able to stretch all the way up and fully engulf my XL ski helmet. the only thing i wish this coat had was its own stuff pocket and larger thumb loops. Almost forgot, i was also impressed by the slight waterproofing that's been applied to the fabric. Light rain beads up and runs right off.

Bomber mid layer. Dumps heat of it's own free will or pair with a gore layer for added bomber. Guys will ask where u got it, girls will ask fornyour number. Throw all your other mid layers in the trash and get this. Astronauts love this stuff. 11/10 would buy again! *freedoms internally*

Outstanding breathable insulation piece, remarkably warm given its lightweight feel. Great range of motion in the fabric.

This thing is great! I'm just shy of 6', 170lbs, and I went with a large and that fits me a little more casually which I like. I'm sure I could wear a medium as well for that "whoa nice pecs" look... but... I don't wanna. A seriously useful jacket that breathes and is surprisingly warm considering its weight and breathability. Also impressed with its ability to shed a light rain. Front pockets are nice and warm, large and easy to get your hands in when wearing a pack. Zipper chest pocket for rapid deployment of cell phone during selfie scenarios. What could be finer.

I love this jacket. It's my go to for trips into town, traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, you name it. Sheds light right and snow really well and is surprisingly warm while not being bulky at all. I like it so much I now have two in different colors. I bought one last year and another this year. The only difference I noticed is that the cuff is looser in the newer jacket. It's a little annoying but not a deal breaker. Add some velco to the cuff and this would be the perfect jacket in my opinion.

To be fair, this is my first "active insulation" piece (besides a good wool sweater). That said... I don't think I'm ever going to take it off. When I ordered, I was thinking this would only be a shoulder season piece for fall and spring. However, I just spent 2 hours walking my dog and standing around, throwing the ball for her in the mid-40s with nothing but a T-shirt and the Ascendant Hoody; I was never cold, and never hot. It's really remarkable!
I got black, because it was all that was left in my size. I hope they come out with olive green again later this year so I can buy a second one!

I'm in love with this, it's extremely light weight, very warm, a good fit. I can wear it as a midlayer climbing/hiking or I can easily just throw it on under a rain jacket for travel. I'm a huge fan already.

The combination of weight, breathability, and warmth has made this my go to jacket for snowshoeing, and any other cold weather adventures. I would count this as one of my all time best purchases.

Athletic fit that breaths well during moderate to heavy work, beads rain during light precipitation and stops the wind. This is a great all around mid layer that is a good to pull on after long hills and can be worn constantly during light and moderate exhertions. Unlike down jackets, this keeps the warmth in even when wet. I prefer this jacket over fleece when worn with an outer shell. Great jacket in the front country for running around in Pacific Northwest winters. Weight to warmth ratio is very close to down and I have replaced my puffy jacket with this for all around wear. Solid thumbs up OR!

The jacket is deceptively thin and light but traps in the heat and breathes better than any other mid-layer I own.

This hoody is very warm for the weight and the athletic fit allows me to use it as a mid layer when temperatures drop below freezing.

This jacket is THE BEST MID LAYER I have EVER had. I now wear it all the time... On its own jogging, under my ski jacket at the resort, or just around town when I need a bit more warmth. I LOVE this piece. Well done guys
