I live in Wisconsin so a warm coat is essential. This coat is mostly warm and has features that I like, such as two sets of outer pockets. However, the seams aren't all sealed. There is one set in particular just above the elbows -- when I wear this coat, I'm completely warm except for the wind seeping through at the elbow and freezing me! I'm not sure if this is a manufacturer error or if the coat is just not designed to be sealed there. As others have remarked, the coat runs small and the arms are somewhat long, but I don't mind this. I love the fleece wrist liners in the coat and the way they are designed. I love this coat but am not sure if I'd buy again... It's too pricey to not have all the seams sealed and this makes me wonder about quality and durability overall.

Runs small, super heavy, and super stiff

Hello All, My husband order this womens-outer-boroughs-parka For me for Christmas..I've been threw so many winter coats I suffer the cold from being Anemic And quick to get sick....And I finally found a coat that keeps me so warm and it's comfortable. I never order here before. I got xs I had to return and get a small and it's fits perfect.....

Was a gift for wife. She loves it

I got this jacket because I was looking for a parka that I could wear in colder weather. I live in Seattle, so this jacket may have been overkill - but I love it and don't regret it. I know that when I bring it with me to Maine to visit family in the winter, I will be warm and toasty. When I first got the coat, I couldn't stop wearing it. Even if it was only 40 degrees out. I wore this on a Christmas boat cruise in December, where it was rainy and windy. This jacket was perfect for that. When temps dipped to 20-30 this January, I was excited to be able to slip it on. Things I love include the length (I've never owned a parka before), the warmers that come out of the sleeves onto my hands, it's waterproof, warm and the shape of the jacket (form flattering). Things I wasn't a huge fan of was that the hood doesn't come out as far as I would like and the long sleeves (although this seems common in TNF jackets). I wanted to think of a third con, but honestly can't.

I really love this coat for its features. The parka does an amazing job at protecting you from very cold days. I no longer layer up or bring my scarf as often as I would with my other coats. The HyVent design protects your neck very nicely. My ONLY PROBLEM with the coat is, it is not designed for curvy women. I'm a Size Small with thicker thighs and this Parka bulks up once I start walking and coat bulges around the upper pocket area. For me, I have to unzip the bottom at all times, which takes away from protecting my lower body from the cold coming in.

The shoulders are cut way to small. I found the chest/arm/shoulder area very restrictive and too tight to hold warmth. I often wear xsmall or small and even the small was too tight. The medium was huge in the body and hips. Returned.

Is a good jacket to have with Michigan weather.

I am always cold and have been looking for a winter coat that will keep me warm, even when walking my dog in the early morning in the northeast. This coat is perfect. They have really thought of everything with this coat. Among the features I like are the removable fur along the hood, all of the pockets, including the ones that are placed exactly where I want to put my hands, and the bottoms of the sleeves that can wrap around to cover hands. I loved this coat so much that I got one for my mom who complains about being cold more than I do. She also loves it and isn't complaining now! I didn't love the gray, so I got the taupe. I got my mom the black. I got the medium, which is what the size chart said and the fit is spot on. I got my mom the small. She says it's a tiny bit tight for her liking, but not to the point that she wanted to exchange it. Finally, I tried on most of the coats around $400 or less at the North Face store and settled on this one. I plan to wear it for many winter to come.

I ordered this coat, tried it on, and have started my return. The cost has a nice cut and style. I normally wear a medium but like to get larger in bulky coats so I can layer underneath. The coat looked too big and I would exchange for a smaller size but... I don’t like that the fur on the hood is not detachable, I also don’t like that you can’t just completely detach the hood. The hood could also be a little bigger for more head coverage.

I had to return it. As other reviewers have commented, the shoulders are cut small. I am typical a solid medium in all North Face jackets, coats and tops. The shoulders were too restrictive. A larger size would have been too big in the hips. The cost is very heavy and stiff, but seems very warm. The urban navy is a really great color! Side note, I compared this to the defdown. The defdown had no shape/tailoring.

I was so looking forward to receiving the jacket. I love the way it looks, very stylish for a super warm parka. Love the style, the feminine hourglass shape with belt. Unfortunately, the shoulder and arm sections are weirdly tailored. I am petite and proportionate (this means that I have normal sized arms and shoulders :) ) but this parka just doesn't fit right in the shoulders and upper arms. Normally, I am size S so I tried M but that didn't help either. If they could design it with a little more room in arms in shoulders it would be perfect. For a coat of this price I expect more comfort. So sad to have to return this coat!

Every day cold weather wear. Very stylish can throw on with anything and super warm

Very warm and comfortable. Definitely worth the investment if you're living in a colder area of the country!

I have give this Jacket as a gift to my Wife. She loves the Warmth of the Jacket and comfort. The Reason for poor rating are. 1. It Leaves goose down on your dresses and it leaves lot of down,It has been more than a year but it leave lot of down and all the suits and dresses looks ugly because of this. 2. I have give this Jacket for Dry cleaning and the color of the jacket is Faded 3. I had to replace the Zipper with in 6 months of Purchase and sending it to repair to North Face is a huge task and a wait time of 6-8 weeks.

It is exactly what I was expected and I am satisfied.

I'll use this for the cold weather.

For reference I am 40 years old, 162 pounds and 5'-6". I had a baby 7 months ago so my waist isn't back to normal yet. I bought a size large going mostly off my hip size. I'm glad I did because the fit is perfect! I searched long and hard for a coat that would meet up to my VERY PICKY must haves. My arms are longer than most and I can't stand a coat, sweater, or shirt that's sleeves are too short. The inner fleece sleeves extend a couple inches past the coat making it perfect for me. I don't like boxy, masculine looking coats. This one actually has shape to it and fits my curves. Win, win! I NEED a coat that will actually fit, look feminine AND keep me warm. I live a mile up in the Northern Rocky Mountains and FREEZE in the winter. Not anymore thanks to this well designed and made coat! I'm sold! I'll be saving up to buy my daughter's coats from The North Face! Thank you The North Face for this awesome coat!

Everyday winter parka

This jacket arrived today and I was impressed from the moment I hoped the box. It looked and felt like a good warm coat for upstate NY weather. I'm slim and I was worried about bulk, but the coat fit perfectly. I bought an xs and I'm 5'4 and 110lbs. I wore it outside today and it was a warm 30 degrees, but I could tell that it will be my warmest, most attractive coat ever! Northface you did not disappoint. When im out walking my dogs in the early am freezing zero degrees, I'll be warm!

his parka is very beautiful and it looks great on the body. It's not like the other parkas that make us look very big. It's so warm and the size was perfect for me.
