I bought this coat for New England winters. The material is heavy, which I personally don't mind; it's reassuring for the bitter cold days ahead. The salesperson in the store said that she has it and sometimes it is almost "too warm" which again, is reassuring for the low temps ahead. This jacket is long and covers a lot of long cardigan sweaters that I wear in the winter, so that was a plus for me -- I feel disheveled when my sweaters hang below my jacket. The mitten feature on the sleeves is also great for those quick walks outside with the dog where you don't want to bring a million things with you. I had concerns that it was going to be too tight in the neck/ lower face area when I zipped it all the way up (it felt tight in the store, but I was willing to let this go because of the other qualities that I really liked). I also saw other reviews stating this as an issue. For whatever reason, the jacket that I ordered was completely fine and fits comfortably in the neck/ face area when fully zipped. If you want a real-deal, heavy duty winter jacket, this seems like the one.

First and foremost the Taupe color is amazing however I would match my other half when we both wore our winter jackets- so I switched to the navy! But its a really nice almost nautical navy. My only issue is the sizing- I normally wear an small- xsmall. I first bought the extra small as I wanted it to fit well and look professional, however it would be too small. Ended up purchasing a small that way I can wear a sweatshirt underneath! Great jacket pockets are perfectly placed can't wait to ware it!

I'm 5' 4" 112 lbs and went with a size small (suggested by TrueFit). It looks stylish and feels nice to put on. The amount of pockets is awesome. Haven't tried it out yet since it's still August here in the Bay Area. The only complaints I have are that the sleeves are kind of long and it's difficult to zip up. I'm keeping it nonetheless!

Purchased this jacket after a large search for something perfect for my daughter to take to school back east for the winter months. She loved this jacket in the dark grey best. She felt like it flattered her, and she felt good in it. For reference, she is 5'6", an athletic size 10, shoulders are not too broad, and we kept the medium. The large was just a bit too large and oversized for her.

I bought this coat for my daughter who is heading to the East Coast for School. I wanted a coat that could withstand the winters, but was not too bulky. So far looks good. She will have to test it out when winter arrives. The only thing she had problems with, was the zippers. More human error than product so far.

I absolutely love this coat! So warm and stylish! I usually wear a small in North Face - 5'3 117 pounds- but I found this coat ran small.

This jacket, with its flat black water repellent finish, is about as sleek as a giant parka can be. I’m 5’4” and 125 lbs, and a small fits snugly but still allows a fleece underneath.

Great jacket! Lots of pockets and an adjustable waistband. And I love that it comes in a grey color. However, I ended up returning it because I found the Arctic II to be a better fit for me (5'11", 135 lbs) plus it was cheaper.

Beautiful Coat! A little heavy but amazing quality. Love that it has snap buttons instead of velcro!

She uses this coat on the very cold days. Even the days where it not as cold, she still wears it because it's comfortable.

I've had many name brand winter jackets but this one tops them all. It's really comfortable and warm. I live in the UP ( Upper Michigan) and it gets COLD so I needed something warm to get me through the winter and I finally found it! Thank you Northface for creating the perfect coat/jacket for me.

I live in So. California and I know I probably won't need this much here but I love to travel and adventure out. This is perfect for the arctic and in locations where I might be traveling in the winter. It took me a while to find it in TNF red. It looks like TNF has discontinued it (why?!?). Luckily I found an online retailer who had it in the color AND size I needed. The only downside was that it was full price. I thought about it for a while and in the end decided to splurge. I received the parka today and it's gorgeous in person! The color is striking and the construction is high quality. I really like that TNF used a faux fur for the hood because honestly that is what was keeping me from buying Canada Goose. And the down feathers are responsibly sourced too.
I got the XS and it fits perfectly on me. I am 5'7", 104lbs, 30C chest. I can wear maybe two layers underneath and be toasty. This parka is worth the money so if you're on the fence and need to invest in a parka, I would not hesitate to get this one. I have another Parka by Patagonia which I absolutely love too but I wanted a red one for that added pop of color in a sea of black coats in the winter.

It is a great jacket for cold weather in rainy days. it is perfect style especially when you go to school or go to work. The zipper is kind of a hustle to get it together and set it up other than that I love the jacket I will recommend it.

I love this parka! I've never had anything this warm! It kept me warm and comfortable even in the extreme temps we get in Boston. No wind penetrates it either. Loveee

I use this coat for everyday wear and it holds up great! I'm never too hot while wearing it and it's light weight which is a great plus. Rain never seems in and rolls right off of it. Very happy with this purchase. The craftsman ship is impeccable. I can tell the coat will last for years to come. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for cold winters, wet weather, windy days, and comfort!

I work at a school in southern New Hampshire and for recess we have to stand out outside. Through the wind, snow, and rain this coat is amazing. It keeps me warm during the hours I have to be outside and it stands up to the unpredictable weather.
I'm very happy with this purchase. I did a lot of research before I decided on this one, and I'm glad I chose it. Thanks North Face!

I got this parka in December 2017. It's light warm and fits great. I like the fact that the rim around the hoodie is not real fur! So to some degree the jacket is also cruelty free.

I did a lot of research, and narrowed it down to Outer Boroughs Parka or Arctic Parka II.
Outer Boroughs Parka
- longer than Arctic Parka II
- tighter fit than Arctic Parka II
- material of the parka is tougher than Arctic Parka II
- feels like more down feather in Parka
- has internal fleece cuffs
- has more pockets than Arctic Parka II
- It feels warmer than Arctic Parka II (did not feel coldness or wind in -30 C (-22 F) wind chill today with just a long sleeve shirt underneath)
- when you put your hoodie bottom of hoodie comes closer to your mouth (perfect for windy day)
- tighter hoodie, but warmer. Arctic parka's hoodie is bigger, but as warm as Outer Boroughs Parka's
I tried on both Outer Boroughs Parka and Arctic Parka II before I purchased Outer Boroughs Parka, and they are both very nice warm jackets. I chose Outer Boroughs Parka because I live in very cold windy area in Canada, and I have to walk to a bus stop very day for 15 minutes each way. Like some reviewers commented, it feels tighter. I wear a Small size Thermoball Jacket and Parka have a lot of room to layer. I don't have much room with Outer Boroughs Parka with a size small. I tried a Medium size at the store, but it was way too big, and I looked like a kid wearing mom's jacket. It is a very warm jacket, so I figured I don't need to have a lot of layers underneath this jacket, and purchased a small. If you have a larger chests, you might want to go a size up.

My husband bought this for me because my old parka was not in very cold weather. I love this parka especially in very cold and windy mornings of DC. Size fits perfectly and feels very warm even when temperature is in single digit.

I didn't realize until I made this purchase the difference a sturdy coat can make during harsh winter cold. I would absolutely recommend this one, it doesn't look bulky at all and keeps me very warm in the cold NY weather.
