Not only a great hunting sock but works very well as western boot sock. More comfortable than the Thorlo synthetic blend boot sock. For a heavy weight sock very breathable and comfortable.

I wear them with my Muck boots while hunting. The fit is incredible. They did not bunch up on me at all! Kept my feet dry and warm the entire day.

The socks are great EXCEPT they the elasticity at the top is tighter than the sock by far...trusting it will loosen up a bit.

We like these socks. They are very attractive. It is very hard to find socks long enough to be longer than my husband's brace which he wears because he has post polio syndrome. These are the perfect length. Our only complaint is that the ribbing on the top is very tight on his legs. It leaves quite an indentation, and he cannot get the left leg on by himself.

I will use these over the calf socks for a little extra warmth while sitting in my hunting stands. I have used the crew length hunting and hiking socks for years now. They have held up well with rugged use and are very comfortable. It's hard to use anything else. I did have an issue with this new pair (this is why I gave 4 stars) but it was quickly resolved by the Smartwool customer service. Customer service gets 5 stars.

Nice socks. Great cushion. Wish they had them in compression.

These are great and very warm! The only negative thing is how tall they are. I am 5' 8" and I still need to fold the top down about 3 inches to avoid them from running behind my knee. Not the end of the world but a minor inconvenience.

Got these for regular hunting in extreme cold weather and decided to use them in my fishing waders for the Winter fly fishing trips to the Tailwaters! That was the right choice as they are both warm and comfortable with their thick foot padding and OTC fit!!

I absolutely love these socks but after 2 hunts I noticed a hole in the toe. I figured getting a replacement would be simple but it's not. I know you can get a lemon in anything but this warranty policy is a joke.

I wear these socks all day, summer and winter. No other sock keeps my feet padded and dry all day in boots. I have tried some of the thinner ones but prefer these for the padding, even in 90 degree carolina summers my feedt dont feel too hot, and always dry. I have 8-10 pairs and wear a pair of these every single day, I get about a year out of each pair before the padding begins to wear thin, that's about 52 wear/wash cycles. My only criticism is that on nearly every pair the cuff at the top which is folded and sewn to the wool body of the sock starts to come unstitched. This begins sometimes as early as the first 5 wears and washes other times they will make it 6 months or so. Once this begins to happen the cuff will unfold into a single layer and the socks dont stay up on my calves quite a reliably. (I do attempt to refold the cuff when I put the socks on but this doesnt seem to help, it just unfolds itself they fall down after an hour or so) I hate that this happens but the padding and heal of the sock still have plenty of life so I cannot bring myself to throw them out. This also happens on the extra heavy hunter OTC socks which I like almost equally as well. I do however save the extra heavy for the cold. I wish this stitching at the cuff was made more robust so this doesnt happen just from pulling the socks up each morning. Otherwise I love these socks. I still buy them but I believe that detail could be improved.

Smartwool quality control has plummeted. I own several pairs of Extra Large OTC socks. The new pair of the same Extra Large OTC socks doesn't fit over my skinny calf. I bought two pairs and both are very small.

Two pairs were short but at least reached up to my calf. Third pair was closer to a crew sock and did not reach over the calf. As I did wear them I did not return them but all other pairs have been returned. This used to be a high quality product but it appears quality has declined as prices climbed.
