I wear XL in all other brands, but this jacket was huge! Went a size down, and it's still a little baggy. Also, I wish it was a bit longer.

Material tore 4 days after receiving it. :( Very upset about this.. very fashionable. Thin light weight. Material isn't very durable.. if I were to go back I would of chosen something else..

Coats need to be warm, fit well, and be stylish. Warmth: This jacket is not windproof, as it does not have a windproof layer. The thermoball is sewed in patterns of small squares, and wind leaks through the stitches. And so if it is windy outside, you will need another jacket over this. Without the wind, I could wear this comfortably until about 40 degrees before wishing I had another jacket over it. This coat would serve better if it were zip in compatible into a windproof shell. Fit: This coat does fit how it's supposed to, however the hood is so large it blocks my face. Perhaps if I wore a helmet the hood would fit. I wish I had gotten the one without the hood, or if they made this with the ability to remove the hood. Style: It's hard to go wrong when you get a black jacket. Even-so, my friends thought I was wearing a thick winter coat when I had this on with only a t-shirt underneath. I unzipped it to show how thin it is, but they said it looks like a puffy coat. Also, the material on the outside is a little shiny and quite frankly looks like you took out the lining of some coat and are just wearing the liner. I felt kind of ridiculous walking around looking like I tore out the lining of a coat. I wish the outside material were different.

I used the jacket primarily for backpacking trips. I really think it was great for the first year and even part of the second year. After that, the condition of the insulation deteriorated quickly. How did it lose it's loft so much? If you look at all the baffles there are some that are so flattened it feels as if there is no insulation at all. Other baffles have clumped to where the insulation is all to one half and it is paper thin on the other half. All these flat/thin areas will lead to cold spots, and yes I have noticed that the jacket is not as warm as it once was. I have followed all proper washing and care instructions, only stuffed the jacket down a handful of times, and done a ton of research on how to properly care for this item. It just doesn't go back to what it once was. This was after minimal usage... I used the jacket only for hikes, not 'everyday use'. I thought washing down jackets was complicated, but it is actually super easy compared to this item. It is easy to break up clumps of down after washing and using the tennis ball method in the dryer. Not the case for ThermoBall insulation. Trying to break up these insulation clumps is impossible. In my opinion, for the simple fact that the insulation clumps and flattens so much, I cannot recommend this jacket. It does not seem sustainable to purchase a product that has such a short lifespan. Either that or TNF has to improve the durability of the insulation or provide more clear care instructions to extend the lifespan of this product.

The XXL size is too small to add layers and is too restrictive. Not as warm as I expected. Returning the jacket.

No drawstring on hood. Oncoming wind would blow hood off. Elastic at wrists too lose to stop wind. Body doesn't stop wind.

I wear this as my main winter jacket, to commute to work and regularly I wear a backpack. I think this covers the case of most students that go to university. In the course of one su I wear this as my main winter jacket, to commute to work and regularly I wear a backpack. I think this covers the case of most students that go to university. In the course of one Winter, the product started to show signs of wear, where the backpack rubbed up against the jacket in the back. This was a bit surprising, since really I only wear this backpack for 30 minutes a day. The fabric is already showing mesh, and the jacket is still functional but doesn't look good in the back. I didn't have the same problem with the last ThermoBall I bought three years ago, and I feel like this new version is more cheaply made.

I have the blue colour and it is functional and light. But the lining is navy blue/black and this has bled through to the outside where all the quilt stitching is and that is a lot of stitching! The jacket colours are inconsistent and now the jacket looks like a "second" that you would see in a sample sale. See picture attached. DO NOT BUY UNLESS ITS ALL BLACK. I expect better from a premium brand and price.

The length is an issue. I have long arms and a short torso, rarely are items too short in both categories but this jacket hit the double!

I always purchase North Face Products for my kids. This is the first jacket I bought after my son outgrew the boys jackets and coats. The down can be seen coming out of the coat in various places after the second time wearing it. I have only noticed this type of thing happening after having a coat for many years and after it has been washed several times. My son has literally worn the jacket 3 times and it is bothering me that I spent so much money on this jacket and the feathers are already coming out. My son son says it is warm however, I will be calling North Face about the problem.

I ordered thermoball hoodie and received. When I received the item, I found small trash of candy from the pocket of thermoball hoodie. I believe this item is previously customer return. The item should not sell as brand new. Instead, the item should be sold as reconditioned from customer return.

I like to wear jackets while wearing a short sleeve shirt. This seams on the sleeves of this jacket were so scratchy that I couldn't wear it.

PAY ATTENTION EVERYONE !!! They now made this jacket in a SLIM FIT. Which no one in my family can wear. This jacket used to be made in STANDARD FIT or ACTIVE FIT. NO MORE !!! Because of this - they lost VIP BUYERS. Bad MOVE NF - not everyone that can afford your coats are SLIM.

Ordered in store, came at reasonable time. Jacket came with a rip in the arm. I am VERY upset given that i exchanged a perfectly good coat for a flawed one.

PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD SIZING FOR THESE! I bought one of these three years ago & it has been my go to coat ever since. I accidentally left it in my hotel room in Japan after I checked out and boarded a plane back to the US. Ordered a new one this week & when it arrived, I realized my usual size (large) doesn't fit at all anymore. Looked at the tag realized they are now made with a SLIM FIT even though the website does not state this anywhere. I will be returning this one & will most likely have to buy a Patagonia one now since these no longer fit correctly. Very disappointed.

My sons have two of this jacket, I guess an older version because they were not "Slim Fit" and they fit great, and great jackets overall. Now all I find are these "Slim Fit", and they are just too tight in a L. To go up to an XL means sleeves that are inches too long. Make it the correct size like you used to and we'll buy it again. Until then, we are going to look for another brand that is not sized for super skinny long-armed people.

Problem was to slim around the hips. Didn't realize this until I came home and took the tag off. Tried to bring back the next day for a standard fit. Didn't have standard. So wanted a refund and was told because I removed the tags I could not get my money back. I brought the tag and receipt. Still no refund. Bad customer service and nowhere is it stated on return policy that product would not be returnable if tag was removed. Beware shoppers.
