I bought the Keppel because on paper it had all I wanted: understated and classic lines with some remarkable technical contents.
Finish is very good, as you expect from a premium brand (and price tag). The external face of the fabric is very agreeable to the touch, cotton-like, and not so noisy compared to other technical outwear. The inner side looks very high-tech, like the waterproof zipper. It is light and this is an important quality to me, especially when I wear it for some time.
Fit is nearly perfect: I am 180 cm. tall, with large shoulders and a chest measure of 110 cm. The Large size is appropriate, leaving some space for a light second layer or a jacket under the coat. I particularly appreciate the study on form and patterning, an inheritance this Keppel receives from Arc'teryx's outwear expertise. The reflective back collar surface is always welcome when walking or cycling about town at night.
I have already tested waterproof and windproof qualities of this coat. As to breathability, I do not doubt it will be from good to very good, and time will tell if these qualities, along with expected ruggedness, are supposed to stay.
As other customers remarked, the only faults I found are the long sleeves and the lack of front snaps. The former are (I suppose) a consequence of the intended usage on bicycle, when longer sleeves are more suitable and mean more protection for your forearms, but they are a bit annoying elsewhere. The latter would be very useful in some common situations and in this case I think their lack is just a matter of a (too) streamlined design choice.

This coat was purchased for travel. I have a number of rain and active coats that I have taken on trips but they either are to heavy/bulky (in the case of rain coats) or are too casual. The situation this coat fits perfectly is when you are in a large city but you wish to wear a sports jacket. Most active sports rain coats won't cover the tails of a jacket, and you look like a rube walking into a nice place looking like you next stop is the Wetterspitze. When you don't need it, it is folded in the outer pocket of your carry on.

I enjoy using this coat and has been noticed by my coworkers. It would be perfect if the sleeves could be adjusted.

I bought this for rainy days in Tokyo. Perfect with a suit, or with casual clothes. Packs up small enough to fit in my briefcase. I always wear Arc'Teryx mediums, but I HAD to buy a small because the sleeves are so incredibly long. Luckily a small still fits around the chest for me, but even still, the sleeves are much longer than I would like. (I'm 5' 11'') Also, no hood means you still have to use an umbrella. Otherwise, perfect for walking commutes in the rain, and exploring the city during the weekend.

I just received my Keppel trench in Dark Moss and I'm extremely pleased. This is a perfect coat for daily life in Vancouver for the coming months ahead.
The look and fit of this coat are on point. I must say I was worried going by the comments in the other reviews that the sleeves were going to be way too long. However I didn't find that at all.Now I'm concerned I have freakishly long arms.
I loved my Parsec from years past, especially the hood. That being said the Keppel is a nicer coat and would be the champ if it had a hidden or detachable hood.
Nothing but good things though!

Very short review, everything is great about this coat, EXCEPT sleeves are way too long. It never ever happened to me before with other Arc product in the same size. Even with heavy weight shell underneath this coat, sleeves are covering 3/4 of my hand. My arm length is average.

I hesitated purchasing this coat, but the Gore-Tex shell is a bit over the top. For urban use, I would prefer a coat (Keppel- or Sawyer-like model) using more supple and lighter Gore-Tex Infinium.

Wanted to replace my raincoat. The jacket is really good but had to return. Really sad. The size fit great but sleeves are too long and there is no possibility to have them shorten. Should offer a long and short sleeve version. This would be a great raincoat for the city.

For me, access to my pants pockets is a necessity. The one cut at the back of the jacket requires me to hike the entire jacket up, while zipped, if I want to reach into a pant (front & back) pocket. For me this is maddening & the sole reason I don't rate the jacket 5 stars. Had I tried the jacket on before purchasing I would have passed on it.

good looking jacket for casual wear, not so much for commuting via bike or any other outdoor pursuits. Bit bulky in waist area, could use with some tailoring

I have 5+ size large arc'teryx jackets and they all fit me well. I bought this jacket online expecting the same fit and was disappointed. The jacket is supposed to be a regular fit, but it's really a relaxed or even extra relaxed fit. The sleeves are also way too long - 1/2 inches longer than the Sawyer in the same large size.

I like the look of this coat, and have been following it since it debuted 2 years ago. Tried it on, and the sleeves were a good 6" too long. Also unable to be tailored due to the design. Many of the reviews in this thread point out the same problem. Although the company says this feedback has been passed to the designers, still no fix 2 years later. What gives?

Great coat, but the sleeves make it look like you're a 10 year old wearing your dad's coat. Why are they so long? I have monkey arms and the sleeves are like an inch and a half too long.
Going to have to return it. Thought I'd found the perfect coat....
Seriously, if you're thinking about buying this, know that the sleeves are way too long for you.

This was really close to being my dream raincoat. However, the sleeves were a full 4-5 inches too long. They ran past the tips of my fingers.

its rather maddening, because this jacket comes so close. the fit and finish are top notch, this could easily become my daily jacket for much of the year. but it fundamentally lacks an essential aspect of a good top coat: front snap closures. its rare that weather conditions require the zipper to be done up, and on a day to day basis, simply snapping the front closed with one or two snaps at sternum and belly height is more than sufficient, especially while riding a bike. its frustrating to see those left off, especially as arcteryx makes such lovely locking snap closures (as on the veillance blazers etc). swing and a miss, im afraid: add more functional closure options and this would be a winner that id buy in a heartbeat.

It would be nice to have this and a few other city jackets in yellow to deal with the growing risk of inattentive drivers.

Great idea to add a trench in the catalog, and I could not find another similar urban design and fabric in the market.Unfortunately sleeves are way too long and the reflective marking on the back of the collar makes the trench less attractive. It does not seem to be designed for cycling after all. Hopefully Arc'teryx will correct these two issues next year.

I own and love a lot of Arcteryx equipment and clothes. From climbing harnesses to shell jackets. The form, function and fit has always been spot on. Not so with the Keppel trench. While the style and quality are great, the sleeves are absurdly long. Comically long. Unfortunately, I'll be returning the jacket.

Arcteryx needs to accomodate people, not chimpanzees with knuckles dragging. I am not sure how many jackets I purchased and ended up returning because of this very reason. I have more than dozen SS shirts which are fine but anything long sleeves are hit or miss.actually 80% miss!!

Please please please shorten the sleeves! Great engineered coat, mediocre attention to sizing. I purchased an XS so you'd think the design team would take in consideration proportions for someone of that build especially since you can't get the jacket tailored! This item needs to be revised...................
