I was deciding between this and the monitor down coat which is more than double the price of this, and while this coat isn't cheap in its own right, it does well compare to other coats coats of a similar value. You can see the main points in the pros and cons. The neck tightness is set by two drawstrings which are inside the coat but the locks are awkwardly placed in the side of the hood. The hood height is set by a back of hood string which is also tricky to use under a flap. However, once you've set your hood how you want, you'll hopefully not need to set it again. The down goes through the arms and right to the bottom of this long coat. If you want a slim fit, you will very likely be able to size down. It could be slightly warmer, as it is 750 down and i can tell my 850 cerium lt hoody is a bit warmer, but I really don't think this is an issue for me living in London where it only just goes below 0C a few times a year and often can be between 0 and 10. For me, 750 might even be better suited. A lot of your money is going to the high grade goretex pro which should be very strong even against rough abrasion. Don't expect to look ultra stylish; it's a practical piece and you'll look a bit like a classic fisherman, no surprises there. A little plain but you won't look bad. Maybe go grey if you want an alternative look. The hood could do with more side of face cover for my liking and the mouth cover a little closer to the face. The wrist material could do with thumb holes. I'll probably just use a neck gaiter on windy days though. Only 2 main pockets with no down cover on the outer surface, just the goretex if you put your hands in them. Overall a good coat where your money is going to general warmth, durability, waterproofing and windproofing. It could do with a few improvements but to find coats like that right now will cost you much, much more.

I'm usually a S/M. I bought the size Small last season and it was large. I see the make the XS in several coats, but not this one. I returned it but I would've just bought the XS and kept it. too bad...

Despite all the advantages of the product, lightness, warmth, technology applied. The product I bought last month feels terrible. Goose down is climbing very hard, but I understand that technologies have been applied to lighten the weight of the jacket, which can affect the migration of down. But I do not agree with this urban model. It is extremely uncomfortable to wear a jacket, when you go to work the whole blazer or pullover in goose down, you have to remove it from your clothes for a long time. Broken sections with visible goose down are visible on the inside of the jacket. My work does not allow it to be obscured by this. I would recommend this jacket for outdoor activities, or going out for a picnic. But wearing with business clothes is horrible.

i do like it, but for the price it's not worth it. I feel like the 'city' coats are overpriced vs the technical alpine jackets. I do own a bunch though: a2b stuff, Keppel trench etc.

Bought this jacket for its long down coverage as i get quite cold easily. however, the small fits big even with a sweater/hoody on. I currently have a Camosun in XS which fits very well for my built. Im 5'7" around 130lbs. Sadly I had to return the jacket. Wish they make an XS like the Camosun

For $1k, this thing better be shooting flames. I'm a big guy and generally run pretty warm on my own. In Edmonton, we've not even had our coldest weather of the season and I find this coat chilly in the shoulders, chest and biceps while fully zipped. Coldest I've been in so far is -20c and can easily hit -40c. I shouldn't need to wear a sweater under it. I question the 750 count vs other brands with less. XXL. Save yourself the money.

I purchased the Arcteryx 2020 Thorsen parka during the covid lockdown and ordering online was straightforward and more convenient than expected for curbside pick up (tried the jacket quickly outside for fit). I really liked this Thorsen jacket so much I advised three friends to buy the Thorsen jacket and bought another for my brother. Its a light weight, warm, waterproof/breathable, clean looking jacket. For the most part, everything you want in a mix down/synthetic parka. The issue i have with the Thorsen I purchased is that the front zipper isn't fully covered when I have my hands in the front pockets (see pic 1 with hands in pocket - pic 2 with hands outside of pocket) of the parka. When the pockets are used, it tends to pull the fabric/flap covering the zipper away and not flush with the jacket which exposes the front zipper. The friends that purchased the 2020 Thorsen expressed the same issue with their parkas as well. The Thorsen parka I bought my brother however, doesn't have this issue, when both hands are in the front pockets the front zipper is still covered and not exposed by the fabric/flap (see pic 3) The only difference I found was that the Thorsen I bought my brother was a 2019 model (Olive Green) with the fabric/flap covering the front zipper being more firm and solid which doesn't allow the fabric/flap to be pulled away from covering the zipper. The Thorsen I purchased is the 2020 model with the fabric/flap covering the front zipper feeling flimsy allowing the material to be pulled away from covering the front zipper. This one flaw with the fabric/flap NOT covering the main front zipper renders this 2020 Thorsen down parka USELESS to me since the selling point to me was the waterproof/windproof. Don't forget, the front zipper is not a watertight zipper like the technical jackets, so it will let wind and water thru when the front zipper isn't covered during wet/snowy and windy conditions. This may seem like a small issue but I keep my hands in the soft-lined comfortable pockets. I used this parka during windy conditions between 0 to -10 Celsius only wearing a tshirt underneath. The parka is warm throughout with the exception of the front area along the main zipper, noticeable temperature difference (cooler) can be felt. I'm completely disappointed with this Thorsen parka, it doesn't provide the windproof/waterproof that I expect from an Arcteryx product and I feel terrible that my friends purchased this jacket based on my suggestion. On a side note, I have a 2006 Arcteryx Maverick fleece I still wear on a regular basis, no delaminating of arm pocket and still has smooth functioning zippers after 15yrs of use. Arcteryx produces great quality products, for the most part (Thorsen excluded;).!!
