I've had this jacket for about 6 weeks and it's been used mainly as a layering piece but occasionally on its own as a warm layer. I'm 5.9 and wear a size M, the fit is perfect. The longer length at the back means it doesn't ride up, there is no readjusting needed. I love that it's stretchy, it doesn't feel like you're wearing a fleece.
My one complaint is that after wearing it once while carrying a daypack, the back of the jacket is now pilled. I was expecting it to be more durable.

I bought this for use as a mid layer in cold weather or as a stand alone in less extreme conditions. I`m 6` 1" and 15+ stone with long arms and when I tried it on in store the fit was almost perfect and the material seemed ideal for purpose. However in use unless I do the zip right up it unzips itself quite easily, which is a nuisance if I warm up and just want to half zip it up to cool down and negates all its advantages for me. For this reason I cannot give 5* or recommend it in this price bracket, which is a shame as it was almost perfect for me.

Have been using this for two months... daily commute to the office and the occasional tennis game. I use it with the Gamma MX.
For the price, not recommended. The fabric pills! My wife and myself own Arcteryx jackets and bags. Always happy until this. A letdown.

I was very excited to receive this jacket. The material felt incredibly soft and the stretch in the material allowed for a very comfortable fit. When i put the jacket on i noticed that it fit very well and was very flattering. This is why i gave it a three star review. However; I then zipped it up and decided to wear it around for a bit to see what i thought while outside. I noticed that the zipper kept moving down just while walking. It usually stops at the top of my stomach. I decided that this is just too big of a flaw to ignore and decided to return the jacket. If it had a better zipper that would stay in place this would be a perfect mid layer jacket in my opinion.

Was excited about the look and the weight of the jacket. After 2 washings and hang drying, the arms are pilling. I have had several pieces of this brand and they have lasted years, but not this piece. Not quality material

I have a Kyanite Jacket that's a few years old now and this new one is a much better cut. It's trimmer and more fitted and I like the different material on the back of the collar to make it stand up.
The problem I have with this jacket, however, is that after only a few weeks it has started to bobble, and these are bobbles that can't be removed that easily. They don't come off with a lint remover. I have bought lots of Arcteryx gear over the past 15 years and it has always been spot on. My old Kyanite Jacket has nothing wrong with it, I'm afraid the material used in this current iteration just isn't up to scratch.

The sleeves are really long considering the rest of its proportions. The fabric is highly prone to pilling/fuzzing up with any friction from normal daily activity, and especially when put in contact with even slightly rough stone. I would not recommend this product if you care about such things. Also, the fabric is a very stretchy and light fleece, not dense or hefty like I thought it would be. This is not necessarily a negative, just a surprise.

I thougt like this would be revolutionary giving the marketing for this company. But a classic wool sweater or even a blend is way better than this fleece.

A plastic zipper is unacceptable on a shirt that price with an expected quality. I own the previous model, the Lorum, hoodies and none hoodies versions. They are one, if not, the best mid-layers I have ever own, the quality of the fabric, the design, the longevity is top-notch. When I saw the new model I thought I would give them to love ones this Christmas. I am very disappointed when I got to try the Kyanite hands on.

Wanted a versatile jacket that could be used in the colder months, as well as chilly evenings when hiking.
Whilst it is warm, I found it wasn't great at heat regulation, something that my Delta LT does brilliantly.
Unfortunately, I had to send back my first jacket after a day because it had managed to get a hole in it on my walk home, no clue how. Never really felt the same throwing it around.
Zipper was also weak and kept on unzipping. Not to mention, there is pilling on the lower back.
If you are looking for a versatile jacket, I would definitely go for a Delta LT over this (used in 20 degrees c. with a t-shirt and -10 degrees c. with just a baselayer and hardshell)
I would reserve the Kyanite for either lounging around or something like ski touring or climbing (would probably still choose the Delta LT over this though).
If you run hot avoid at all costs, go for the Delta LT instead, you won't regret it.

I wanted a mid layer jacket to go under the Beta AR I recently purchased, and the Kyanite was my first choice to match up with what is undoubtedly a fantastic outer shell. I read some reviews related to the zipper coming apart, and I dismissed them, until I went to the store to try on the jacket. I was surprised that a company that prides itself on top of the line, quality materials would let a zipper like that slip through the cracks. It is plastic, and feels and acts like a zipper that you would find on a kids hoodie from a discount store. Unacceptable. I wasn't going to shop around, but was forced to purchase a competitor. The designers of this jacket need to do themselves a favor and replace the zipper as soon as possible. I paid more for a competitors jacket made in Europe that had a metal zipper that did exactly what it was supposed to.
To clarify, I am a huge fan of Arc'teryx and own several pieces of clothing from them. They make comfortable, good looking clothes typically from quality materials. I hope they make a simple change to what would otherwise be a great jacket.

Worse jacket ever bought , its peeling everywhere on the jacket , its 2 months old , you can't sell this to people for that amount of money in my opinion .

Really disappointed. The material gets all kind of dust, lent, crumbs on it and it is difficult to get it clean without washing it. The jacket is baggy around the mid-section. Quality overall isn't great. Not worth the money--not even close, sadly.

I own two previous Kyanite jackets and this new material has ruined such a good jacket. As others have stated the jacket pills up with the new material.

I had bought a size L some while ago and while I like the jacket found it somewhat large on me. I do have other Arcteryx jackets and vests and large fits pretty well. So I thought the Kyanite, for some reason, fit larger than the norm. So I bought a size M. It was way small so I gave it to my wife. This large gap between M and L makes no sense. Nor does the fact that the Kyanite L fits so big.

I want to start by saying I own 13 pieces of Arc'teryx gear. They are all 5 star quality. The Kyanite is the bitter exception. The fit is excellent but the fabric feels like delicate sponge & the pilling is unacceptable. At best it will be worn as a mid layer to protect it from contact with just about anything. It began pilling from contact with a draw string. I am at a complete loss where the damage across the back came from. This jacket was purchased on January 14th and has been worn four times. It's that bad.

I was amused to read that Arcteryx has a trademark for the No Slip Zip on the Kyanite Hoody. I think the trademark should actually be called The Slippery Zipper. I can actually unzip this jacket without using my hands/fingers. And the hoody's zipper is even worse than the jacket's zipper. I can stretch my arms back and the zipper unzips nearly all the way down. The jacket is useless if the zipper doesn't stay put. If it weren't for the dreadful zipper, I could give this jacket 4 or 5 stars. I don't like the color options. The men seem to have more and better color choices. However, I liked the nice slim fit and coziness of this jacket. I'm 5'10" and appreciated its somewhat longer length in the back. I took my usual Acteryx size medium. I can't comment on the durability of the jacket since I haven't worn it and can't keep it. Please Arcteryx make this jacket with a better zipper because I'd love to purchase this jacket if it came with a zipper which stayed zipped.
