Customer Reviews ASICS GEL-Kayano® 24

I am a late-beginner runner (I am up to 3 miles) and I have been starting to pay attention to my footwear, since I have noticed there is definitely a difference between my very old sneakers and my newer sneakers. (Also, all the running websites tell me to do so.) I have been wearing ASICS for more than a decade, mostly gel Kayanos, also Nimbus. I have found the Kayanos have disappointed me in the past - they're constantly changing a great style for obscure reasons - but because of the good reviews I found on the internet and a few on this website, I decided to try these. I am very pleased with these sneakers. They have great arch support, and I like the look. For me personally, they allow me to land lightly and naturally and lean forward like you're supposed to, and I don't have to work at it. I may even find another pair before they're all sold out!

Like my last pair of Kayanos, I had to go with an 8 and I wear a size 7 shoe. That said, I do like them to be roomy. But I would at the very least order a 1/2 size up. Completely comfortable and I am coming from the Kayano 20. Style wise, I could have used a little more contrast in the colors on the body of the shoes. I had the Smoke Blue and while the shiny stripes on the side LOOK like they stand out and are contrasted, in reality they blend right in to the mesh so it looks like an all one color shoe. The same goes for the pretty peach that peeks through. It looks like alot of peach in the photo but in person it hardly shows up at all. It's a shame cos if those details were a little more pronounced, the shoe would pop!

Overall, I liked the way these fit, the toe bed was excellent! I liked the look and the foot bed is very comfy. However, when I walked I felt like I was smacking my foot on the floor. I imagine this is a great shoe for some but for me they were too stiff in the middle which caused the smacking. I'm a light walker so I found this to be somewhat annoying. I would have tried them for a while but I was not 100% happy so I returned them. I like the Asic's 20's much more! They are more expensive but they are a great shoe. I love the upper line of Asics!

Asics were recommended by my personal trainer for workout sessions and cardio on the treadmill. I'm not a runner but I like running shoes for the stability they provide. Needing a wide width, I ordered the Kayano 24s and the Contend 4s to try, going up a half size for both after reading reviews. The Kayanos had the better fit of the two (the Contends were way too long in the toe, they're going back) and both shoes were a little narrower than I expected from a wide width, but I actually like the snug, compact fit on my wide, flat foot. The cushioning is great, not too much, not too little -- the shoe feels very natural on my feet. I also like the Smoke Blue color -- it's aesthetically appealing and more discreet than some of the brighter colors, which I like to see on other people but just feel a little too overt for me.

I like them for walking the dog every day. They are good comfortable shoes.
