I wear this boot in the colder, winter months. It has stability and I don't slip. I have been a Free Time fan for 30 years or more, but I like this shoe the best. I bought the Free Time with the same sole, but it just isn't as comfortable.

I bought these boots over a year ago and they still look new. I wear them several times per week and have even work them with skirts. The soft leather is very comfortable and as always the fit is perfect. I recommend these boots for anyone with a causal lifestyle or for people who work in the restaurant industry or outdoors. I have also used them for light hiking. They are comfortable for year round wear.

I got these in a wide and they fit my foot fine. There is wiggle room for my big toe which can be sore at times. I appreciate the arch support. It took me about a week to get used to having shoe around my ankles. I got some elastic laces and left them loose at top and now the ankle part doesn't bother me at all. These are good shoes.

This boot is great. Good looking with leggings. Very comfortable. I bought for the no slip feature. So far, so good.

I recently purchased these shoes for work. So far, they are the most comfortable work shoes I have ever owned. I work long hours on cement floors. Thank you Zappos for your excellent customer service and speedy shipping.

Thank you SAS for making this boot in the United States of America. Love the boots and will wear them often.

Bought these boots to transition from cool, wet, New England fall days to snowy winter. I wish they were rated waterproof instead of water resistant because I want to wear them all winter. They are super comfy and with elastic laces I can slip them on and off. Very well made shoe. I generally wear more stylish boots but I can't beat the comfort.

The shoes leather is glove soft. Good craftsmanship. I ordered a wide, so roomy toe box. I have narrow heels and in recent years SAS shoes that I bought tend to have wider heels. Otherwise, the shoes would have fit perfectly.

I only wear SAS and Munro. This 10.5N runs very wide...my foot was drowning in this boot ...

They were not high enough to give good ankle support. I have a problem with my left ankle but I thought from the pictures this would be high enough. It’s a nice shoe but not for me!
I'd also recommend:
Salomon hiking is much more supportive.

Size was perfect but the ankle rubbed more than I would have liked. Biggest complaint was they looked "old" with zero style. They have been returned.

The Alpine is not true to size. I normally wear a N and could have used a Slim in this. I had to add an extra liner in the bottom of the shoe to make it narrow enough, but the heel still slips a little. The extra liner also gave the boot more cushion, as it was not as comfortable a walk as I had hoped. I have a high instep, so with the narrow width of the tongue, and the lack of a lace stay, the tongue slides to the side of my foot after 30 minutes of wear. Where the tongue is joined to the main part of the shoe is very rough and rubs on my foot. It is getting a little better with wear. If you have a "wide" narrow foot with a low instep/arch, this will probably be a good boot, but it has not been perfect for me.

Super comfortable, as I would expect from SAS. However, the boot is not high enough and hits me right on my ankle bones, which is why I'm returning them.

I loved the shoes but, they were too large in length and too narrow in width. I even purchased heel cups to help with heel sliding. The sad part is I wore them once thinking they were fine and wasted my money because they were worn. I need a smaller size and wider width.

This is my go to shoe when I travel. They are comfortable for 12+ hrs of walking a day and for hiking. They are good in all weather conditions and can be worn for dressing up or dressing down. I've worn them anywhere from hiking in Croatia to attending a play in London's West End to a night out at home in Texas. They are great to wear when it's raining. My feet/socks never get wet. I generally pack two pair of shoes on my longer trips if I'm flying and am limited in what I can pack. If these came in navy or dark brown in addition to black, I'd take nothing but two pair of these with me.

These are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I love the footbed inserts. After a few days wearing, they conform exactly to the bottoms of my feet. I have another pair which I've been wearing for two years, so I know that the insert will continue to support my sore old feet, and continue to feel wonderfully comfortable. The balls of my feet are swollen and I cannot walk barefoot for 50 feet without pain, or wear most shoes, but these SAS boots are perfect. I also like that I can get these in Narrow. I use this pair as "good" casual shoes, and house shoes. They are so nice looking! The other pair have been work boots ( much digging and trench filling ) for two years. They are quite worn and air-conditioned now, so they are my Summer work boots. The one thing I don't like is that the non-slip soles gather mud, and are impossible for me to clean, and they do slip when climbing a steep dusty hillside. Perhaps SAS would consider making another boot, a tough outdoor work boot with thick leather, and good climbing soles which are easy-clean with lugs far apart enough that you can get a knife or a brush in there to scrub out the mud. Overall, these boots are marvelous. Warm, comfortable, and beautiful, and I will buy them again.

I am 68 with 2 bad big toes! I work in a school cafeteria 7 hours a day and can only say that I LOVE these boots. I find that alot of times I don't even take them off when I get home from work. The past couple of weekends I have been wearing them with shorts to do all our weekend adventures. Would love the brown if available. If not will buy another pair of these without blinking an eye. I purchased this pair 12-2019. Thanks SAS!!!!

I love these shoes! I have a lot of arthritis in my feet and I need a good shoe for work because I walk all day. These shoes are made very well and last for years. I have had 5 or 6 pairs and they are always a great shoe. This time I wanted the ankle support and I am very happy with them

These are great boots - and they're made in America. The leather appears to be of good quality. I have other SAS shoes which have worn well. Unfortunately Zappos does not carry these in a narrow width and these are just to wide for me. I have to return.

My ankle is held together with hardware after a bad break. I started wearing SAS about 8 months after surgery. Free Time has been my go to shoe but I really wanted a boot this year. Alicia at the Chattanooga store was wonderful and chose this one for me. It looked a little clunky in the box but once I got it on and walked around it was just exactly what I wanted and needed. There is no break in period and it's so comfortable right out of the box. The only suggestion I would make is to offer it in the Free Time Sage color / leather. I've already ordered the brown.

I bought a pair of the Alpine boots a year or so ago and have worn them regularly in cooler weather. My feet haven't gotten wet in snow or rain. The footbed has been very comfortable. I usually don't provide comments online, but for the reasons I noted, I made an exception for the Alpine boots.
