Great bag! I've used it as a carry on and also for day to day activities. Holds quite a bit without being bulky.

My criterium for a good bag is whether it fits a book, a notebook, and some pens. This one definitely does without being too bulky. It is just the right size and looks fresh, a perfect everyday bag. Love the color, too, since I had a white bag before (gets dirty too quickly) and I don't like black. This light grey tone matches everything.

I use the product on the days when I am working in the city, usually at a co-working space. The bag comes in handy, as it as enough room (without being too bulky) to take in with me the things I need e.g. laptop, charger, headphones. it also has room for small items, like breath spray.

Using my Classic Massenger M for four years now, basically every day. For commuting (via train/bus and motorbike), overnight trips, doing the groceries, travelling, ... It carried Laptops, clothes, food and napkins for three kids, sixpacks of beer, books, ... realy put it through its paces. Result: no issues EVER! It gets a bit uncomfy with heavy, bulky load (e.g. twelve bottles of beer/ filled up with books) - but witch bag wouldn't? It's pretty worn out by now, the velcro on the flap gets loose, the waterproof layer is scraped of in one corner. But everything else is great. Can't imagine another bag that would have handled such misuse so well for so long. (Its scars just add to its character.) I love it. Would never go for another messanger again. Oh yeah, and it's a absoult legend. Always in style. So get it. Use it. Love it!

Usually I'd never write a review because at the end of the day I know it doesn't really matter much lol. But I was absolutely shocked to know that recently my cat took a leak directly on the bag and not a SINGLE piece of my musical gear was damaged, or wet from urine. Not even cables in the front pouch. If it wasn't for this bag choice, I would of easily lost hundreds of dollars worth of items. Highly recommended as with all the other people who've been delighted by this bag.

Classic Messenger -best of the best. I own two classic messenger. First one I bought in 1989, a large one; still strong and looking better as it age. Second one was bought in 2008; a medium size. Thank you, Timbuk2 for being creative and reinventing each messenger. But I love classics. :)

I purchased the large size bag about a year ago because I wanted a bag that could easily carry my laptop during travel. The large bag can definitely do that and then some. It's comically large. Way bigger than I needed but that's the risk of buying a bag online last minute before a trip. It was great on the trip except for the times I needed to hold it and my hiking backpack. The two do not mesh well because they both require back space. Since I spent so much on it I made myself use it as my daily bag. Now a year later I'm finally downsizing and buying a size small for future daily use. Did I want to buy multiple premium priced bags? No. Can I stand to go back to a cheaper brand? Also no. The only con of this bag is the lack of a front or back zipper pocket. I may splurge on the especial stash at some point for that feature alone but for now I'm hooked on the features and style of the classic. A year ago I had no idea a key tether was missing from my life but I quite literally refuse to go without one now. I've been caught in heavy rain dozens of times and my bag kept its contents perfectly safe. Despite using it daily and tossing it on the floor at my office and bed at home there is no sign of the slightest wear. I could probably go on for awhile about the smallest details that went into this thing but I'll just end by saying if you're a person who travels or uses a messenger bag daily- try one of these bags. They're so worth it.

Very long time, very happy customer. I have a 2004/5 MD custom messenger, a 2015/6 custom Eula and custom laptop sleeve, a 2016/7 reversible tote, and a 2008 small classic messenger. I get more use from those items than the more upscale leather goods I've accumulated over the years and find they are more to my taste-- especially the custom messengers. They've got character, they're tough, well made and well designed, and easy to take care of. Also? The warranty on these bags is SICK. My 2008 bag's liner was coming apart in shards, so I reached out to see what could be done and filed a claim. The repair dept folks were really lovely. I hated the idea of shipping my favorite bag off and not having it over the holidays, so I held onto it until the bitter end of the claim window and finally sent it off, figuring I'd not see it again for a few months. Could not be happier to be wrong! I shipped it off before I went out of town at the end of December and I got it back early/mid-January. The liner was replaced and the work was pretty good. Best of all (for me) it was done at no cost other than the flat rate box it took to send it off to Cali. So yeah, I am a loyal customer and will continue to be so. Noticing a lack of prints and new colors in the custom section and hope it's just down to supply chain issues and not because of a shift toward utilitarian black. One of the reasons I was drawn to Timbuk2 in the first place is that I saw cyclists in Boston wearing brightly colored messengers. I like that I can create something that's unique-- each of the custom pieces I have stands out and looks good, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back to the brand. (Also PLEASE bring back the Eula. And laptop sleeves. Thank you for reading!)

My father in law got it for me as a present for my very first job--and it's accompanied me on countless business and leisure trips. Over the last year, the waterproof liner started to fray--and the repair team did an absolutely beautiful job of restoring it. I wouldn't be surprised for it to last another 10 years!

My wife bought this bag for me when I was bike commuting in 2004. Alas, no longer riding to work due to distance, but this bag has accompanied me to work and traveled all over the world since then. Very well made, durable, and loads of storage and pockets. Unfortunately, the inner waterproof liner is starting to degrade/flake, so it will be retired to a domestic life as a tool bag, and a new version will be purchased soon! Thanks for making a wonderful, durable product! I've recommended this to several friends who have purchased their own, and everyone is satisfied with the quality and design of their bags!

I have two - an XL (which I don't see on the site anymore? Or maybe it's just a large ) and a medium. I prefer the XL just b/c i've been able to use it for so many things, including work trips. I usually want to carry more stuff with me than the medium will hold as well. Have had my XL for over 10 years and travelled all over the world with mine on work trips. Love that they're waterproof - the XL works as a great carryon or secondary bag when traveling (it holds just as much stuff as my hardshell carryon), is super practical on overseas work trips (even to developing countries b/c it's waterproof). The rubber on the inside is peeling and cracking now from all the use I've put it through, but has definitely been a great investment. I do wish that its interior organisation was better - the single inside pouch just isn't big enough, and the main pouch kind of becomes a disorganized dumping ground of things. But at least I know it's all in there (if I can find it) and it won't get wet. Great bag though - would buy again in spite of the high price tag just b/c you know it will last so long. I bought my medium about 15 years ago and that's held up well as well, although the zipper for the small pouch broke about 7 years ago, which is a bit annoying. But i've used the bag anyway and it's still in pretty good shape. Next time would probably buy a Larger bag, or one with better organization for daily commuting/teleworking.

This old girl refuses to age,,,,much less die. I had her custom made at an outdoor trade show in Salt Lake City 20 years ago and use this bag almost every day. For years I traveled internationally and it was my regular carry-on. I use it endlessly for local bicycling and even longer trips. AND,,,,,it is the best beach bag ever! Hardly looks the worse for wear. The extra-fun feature on this puppy is the matching turn-of-the-century cell phone holder,,,,,,approx 2" x 5" for the old old old style phones. People laugh when they see it. Now I use it to hold my bicycle GPS. Rain, snow, mud, sunshine,,,,these bags just last !!!! If you quit making them, I wouldn't take $1,000 for this jewel !

Unusual review but I had to say something. I've had the classic messenger bag for 4 years as my work bag. It had no wear until today. I was in a motorcycle accident wearing this bag. I slid directly on the bag at 30mph. If I hadn't been wearing the bag I'd have lost most of the skin on my back! The bag is barely scuffed. All straps are intact and it stayed securely closed. I will continue to use the bag and my next bag of any kind will be another Timbuk2.
