I use this bag on my 7.5 mile run to work. It's been excellent for all my needs. I originally was going to buy the Dyna, which is the lighter running bag that Oprey offers. But this bag seemed more durable. And I'm already running with 10 pounds. The extra ounces of material doesn't matter at that point. My biggest compliant about the Sirrus 24 is the lack of places to to hook on a safety light. I've tried hooking lights to the side pockets which usually works but when you stick on the rain cover there is no place for a safety light and that is when I need it the most. Also the rain cover could be a bit more reflective. Other than that I love this bag. I'm a smaller person. After trying fifty other bags at the store, I found this bag to be the most comfortable and adjustable. I can tie it tight enough for a sung fit that I need while running. The frame keeps the load suspended and from bouncing around. 24 liters is perfect for all my needs--winter wool coat, office work clothes, dress shoes, make-up--etc, dry shampoo and lunch. And it doesn't look or feel like a clunky hiking bag, so I can still walk into the office with it.

The point of a padded hip belt is to comfortably carry the weight. I wear size 14 jeans and the hip belt didn't reach half way around. It wouldn't have mattered, the torso length on this is so short the hip belt was at my waist. If you are petite, this would be a great pack. Should come insizes. Not all women on the trail wear size 2.

Love the pack. Used it for a couple of long day hikes this past weekend. The big MISS on this pack (and on pretty much every other pack I looked at) was a CONVENIENT place to carry a phone. My phone is my camera when I travel/hike so I want to have a convenient, safe place to access it. I find it very frustrating that in 2017 they don't make a pack with a place to access a phone! The little pockets on the hip don't work for a phone - I have an iPhone 7 (not the Plus) and it's still too large to fit in the little zip pocket. Yes, I can get it in, but it is SOOOOO not worth the struggle. PLEASE consider this as an option in the future. Honestly for $130, it should be a standard feature. The only other comment would be to have another pocket on the inside to throw things in that is not just the deep pocket along the back.

I bought this pack for a hiking trip to Zion NP; a couple of 20 mile hikes and some shorter stuff. I wanted a pack with a frame. The HUGE con is the tiny opening for the hydration tube. I'd read the reviews and knew it was tiny, but figured I'd overcome it. Well, when removing my drinking tube, it was so tight that it pulled the O-ring off the tube connector, unbeknownst to me. In the morning when I was packing to hike the Subway, my hydration pack was leaking all over. Couldn't use it. I can't replace just that part, so I have to buy a complete new UD bladder and hose for $32. Grrr... The rest is good. I like the adjustable size, I like the small pockets on the waist straps. While they don't hold a phone, they DO hold small snacks, bars, gels, knife. The side pockets are good foe a phone and can be accessed without removing the pack. And as for the outer flat pocket on the back, PERFECT for a map. Not a lot of room inside once you pop in a 2L bladder, but... it's a 24, so.... I was able to fit in 2L bladder, hammock and straps, lunch, Pringles :), puffy jacket, long sleeve shirt, Mylar blanket, and a few other odds and ends. Figure out what features are important to you and go from there. And BE CAREFUL removing your hydration tubes!!!

I am a hiking tour guide and purchased this bag for my day tours. The lack of a sizable phone pocket is annoying and the water bladder is hard to access with the mesh pocket in the way of the opening. It also is listed as the same size as my old bag but carries all the same items far less comfortably. I did choose it because it has the adjustable back size, which most day packs do not accommodate.

The hip belt and back suspension is wonderful. I don't understand why companies won't make a side pocket that fits a mobile phone. The bladder access is a pain, wish it was in it's one compartment. The opening to put the tube thru is awful. I though it might loosen up over time so it was not a struggle to thread it thru but not so far. Please product developers - not all women want purple/pink, black or electric blue. If the black pack had a light inner color (electric blue, yellow, bright green, orange) to make it easier to see that would have been ok... but could you please offer a NEUTRAL color with your packs? A nice grey, with some color accents? a nice navy blue. I am so tired of purple and pink and electric blue!

There are a lot of good features in this pack, but there is also room for improvement. First, the good things, frame/suspension system is very comfortable. The pack is nice and light weight. The straps to cinch it down when it's not full are great. I love the color. A few improvements are needed. I'd like to see the size increased to 28-30 litres. Once a hydrationr bag is in the pack, there is not enough room for gear for a long day hike. The opening for the hydration bag hose is too small. It should be double the size. One should not have to fight to get a hydration bag into a backpack. I think Osprey needs to go back to offering two sizes in women's packs. I'm only 5'6" and I had to max out the adjustment on the frame to get it to fit. I returned mine and am waiting for the 2019 models to come out in hope they have improved this pack.

For the life of me, I can't find the opening to pass the hydration tube from the main compartment to the outside of the pack. Neither can my husband and he already has an Osprey pack with an obvious opening. I've been closing the zippers of the main compartment around the tube to keep it rom moving, but this just can't be right. I emailed customer service to ask about it but haven't received an answer.

Comfortable pack with good capacity and flexible loading options. I use it for hiking and skiing. One problem though - the opening for the hydration tube is way too small. It is difficult to get the bite valve, shut-off valve and clip through the slot. I didn't expect this flaw in a modern pack.

I got excited when I slid this bigger pack on and felt the most comfortable hip belt I'd ever worn. At the end of 8 mi, my back still felt like a million bucks. Unfortunately, I was never able to adjust the shoulder straps quite right, so by the end of the hike, my chest was sore where the chest strap/ shoulder straps cross and my arms felt chafed where they had rubbed the outside of the shoulder straps, even though this is a narrower bag made for smaller frames. Unfortunately, this was not the only deal breaker for me. 2nd deal breaker; hydration issues. 1.Bag not included 2. Awkward hose feed from main compartment to shoulder strap 3.Hose flop on shoulder strap (no magnet to keep it in place) 4.Lack of hose insulation sleeve (I don't want to carry water weight that I just drain on the ground because it's too hot/cold to drink because of exposure). I wasn't thrilled with the vertical zipper pouch. It's awkward to get into/see into and makes it hard to find what you're looking for without fishing forever or pulling everything out. The vertical zipper also wasn't very user friendly when I tried to just slide the pack around my body to quickly grab something one handed, like I used to with other packs with horizontal zippers. That said, at least the pack does have at least one additional compartment beside the cavernous main compartment where you're surely fishing for what you're looking for. For me, I'd rather have the main compartment split in half, with top, then mid access, as to organize/ find specific gear. I loved the bigger hipbelt pockets, but still couldn't fit my iPhone 6s+ (isn't that what they're for?) They did fit a pair of gloves, so bonus. The eyeglass pocket was bigger than necessary.. plenty of room to put a hook for keys, which was another item this bag lacked.

I have a wonderful Osprey Aura G5 SG backpack that I have used on many trips. I told my friend about it and he bought me an Osprey Sirrus 24 daypack for shorter hikes. I plan to take it on a hike tomorrow but am having incredible difficulty getting my hydration tube through the very small hole. It took me a while to even find it. On the backpack, the hole is large enough to push the tube through and also has a stretch fabric that lets you easily insert it. The only way to possibly get the tube through is to remove the bite valve which I really didn't want to do. Even then, it was very difficult. I'm envisioning water all over the place once I fill the bladder and try to load it. I'm going to work on it but wanted to post this review so that perhaps future packs would have the same kind of h2o hole that the Aura backpack does. I can't really recommend this pack because of this issue.

It is so hard to load the bladder and so inconvenient to use with bladder. Surprise to go into production and not surprise it is a closeout bag.

You can not get the bladder in or out, if you want to fit the tube in you have to cut the fabric. Once you put the bladder in, nothing else will fit. They use to have a S women's and a M women's' now it is just women's and if you are taller than about 5'4" the pack will not fit. My son fits backpacks and we moved the straps so far up that the pack is not held to my body. I'm 5'8" Goodwill will get to have this one. What a waste of money.

I did so much research on this pack. I HATE IT!!!! The fabric squeaks the entire time I hike. I have tried everything. It still squeaks. I enjoy hiking alone but the noise is so bad I get frustrated the entire time. Sadly I don't have enough money to buy another pack. So disappointed in the quality of this sirrus pack.

I have had 2 of these. The first I purchased through a local store and used only a handful of times because it was so uncomfortable to wear, I was constantly trying to adjust it to fit my back while hiking, and each time I wore it ended up with the left side of my back bruised and very sore. I took it back to the store that I had bought it at they send it to my back, adjusted everything properly, and waited it only for us to discover that one strap was sitting two in above my shoulder while the other was flush. Given how this looks, the manager deems that the frame was bent or it was seen incorrectly and told me to contact Osprey. I did and they kindly sent me a replacement backpack, however this replacement backpack also bruised my back - this time both sides. I am seriously disappointed with this purchase, it is not a cheap bag and I am stuck with a bag I will never use.

I had a previous version of the SIRRUS 24 and absolutely loved it! But when I sent it in for a repair (the zippers were completely ruined), they offered me this pack as a replacement. I was so sad. Things I do not like about this pack compared to my old pack: (1) if you put a bladder in, you have very little room for anything else, (2) there are no straps at the bottom of the pack - I liked to roll up a towel or my jacket and attach it with the straps to save room inside, (3) the waist straps are constantly rubbing up and down, causing my pants to cut into my hips, and (4) the front pocket is absolutely useless... why would I want a pocket that spills everything out when I open it? Don't get me wrong, I love Osprey and think their policy of replacing old backpacks is great. But I had no choice for my new pack (they don't do credit) and I was stuck with receiving this one. For some reason, I just cannot hold as much stuff in this pack.
