Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I just purchased this pack and while it's not perfect, I'd love to address some of the concerns stated in other reviews.
I was thrilled to find this pack because it is adjustable for size. I am 5'11, and was shocked to hear that individuals much shorter than me have had a hard time finding packs that fit well, because in my experience, most of them are made for shorter people! I've been searching for months and most women's packs are not adjustable for torso size. This one does a great job of loading the weight right at the hip bones, which makes carrying a fully loaded pack an absolute dream. Very comfortable. It's worth it to be fitted an an outdoor retailer--you'll be much more comfortable to get a pack that fits well.
Another must for me--this pack fits a 3L water reservoir (purchased separately). It is EASY to feed the tube through the opening of the pack! I think too many people are trying to feed the mouthpiece end through first, which would certainly be challenging. I just disconnected the tube from the reservoir, and used that (much smaller end) to feed through the hole. Literally took two seconds and there was no struggle. This pack DOES come with a magnet to attach the mouthpiece of the hose. The magnet near the mouthpiece is already installed. The receiving magnet just needs to be hooked to the strap of your choice, I attached mine next to the receiving end of the buckle of the chest strap. Now your water hose easily attaches with a magnet to the chest strap and is SO convenient. (You can actually buy the magnet pieces separately from Osprey and use them on another brand of pack as well.)
The purple color really isn't purple. It's the color of wine. Very pretty.
The hip pockets will hold my iPhone 7. There's no way it will hold an iPhone Plus or any other larger phone.
The vertical zipper on the outside is not my favorite, but I use it for flatter items not used frequently such as maps, tissue, garbage bag, mosquito repellant wipes, hand warmers, etc. I also wish there were some hooks on the outside of the pack to attach other equipment (snowshoes, for example). Also, as much as I love the larger pocket right on top, it does eat into the room available in the main compartment.
My only real complaint about the bag is that because the water reservoir sits inside the main compartment (in its own sleeve), it uses a lot of room in that main compartment, especially if you're frequently using 3L of water like me. My last pack was a 22L and had more room! I often hike alone and carry all of the "ten essentials" for peace of mind, and it's a tight squeeze. During the winter when I'll have more layers, I bought some separate 24" buckle straps so I can just attach my coat to the outside.
Also, because the water reservoir uses so much room, it's pretty much necessary to empty the pack, load the water, then re-load your other supplies. There's no way you'll be able to put a full water reservoir in the pack without taking (nearly) everything out first.
All in all, a great buy and has most of what you'd expect. The included rain cover is handy and I appreciate the loops to hold my poles. My top priority was a pack that fit me well for day hikes and this fits the bill. I'll happily trade any shortcomings for being able to carry a heavy pack without pain or strain.

Beautiful pack -- top marks for style -- just too heavy for a day hike.

I. Love. This. Pack. I am a small-framed woman (5 feet, 100 lb) 65-year old woman, and when I carrry this pack and buckle it properly, I hardly know it is there, even with 20 pounds of gear and water (I like water bottles, not the hydration bag), even after 10-12 miles. Have recommended this bag to several friends who love it as well. It has held up for five years and five continents now:)

I love everything about this pack except the completely useless waist pockets. I can't fit my phone or a folded map in either. I ended up attaching a removable pocket pouch from a different pack for those items. For this price and a brand that specializes in outdoor equipment, this is a big mistake. Considering taking it back.

I love this backpack. if you're going for a short hike, it's too big. a full day hike, this is perfect. I don't like hydration bags because of the way they smell so I carry water bottles and the sides work great for that. When I climb fourteeners the back opening helps with sweating and when I change to dryer clothes anyway, I can hang the extra clothes on the back end. I've really enjoyed having this backpack for long hikes and would highly recommend it.

I bought this backpack in early 202O for a CA national park trip. The Sirrus 24L has held up well! I just recently used it while exploring Mosi-oa-Tunya on its debut as an international pack. I appreciate how the the suspension and straps distribute the weight evenly! It is perfect for my 110, 5'4" frame. I like the mesh back for adequate ventilation. I especially like the hip belt pocketsperfect for granola bars, hand sanitizer, chapstick, mints and other necessities!

I bought this backpack for my CA national parks trip in 2020 and it worked wonderfully! I wore it while hiking through YNP (yosemite national park). The Sirrus 24L backpack has an adjustable torso frame and a pocket for a hydration pack. I'd recommend only filling the hydration pack about 3/4 full and the tube was difficult to insert through the hole but that is the only design flaw I noticed. I just recently used this backpack internationally while exploring Victoria Falls in Zambia and it was fantastic! The lightweight frame and mesh keeps the backpack from soaking your back with sweat and the hip belt pockets are great for granola bars, hand sanitizer, mints, etc. I can fit a first aid kit, toiletries, four outfits, pajamas and a dslr camera in the various pockets. Front zip pocket is nice for bigger papers and the two small top pockets are great for charging cables and souvenirs. Main pocket fits the clothes and camera gear with other essentials. Rain cover kept the backpack dry with the mist that would have otherwise drenched it!

I love the loop for quick-stowing the pole while hiking. The fabric has held up to quite a beating so far for two years. The little zip pockets on the top and the one on the back are convenient. The suspension system on the back is the coolest I've found. I've found small snacks and tiny containers of things that fit ok in the side pockets. The side pocket and compression strap works well to hold hiking poles when I need them out of the way. It's big enough for me to carry enough water, food and some emergency supplies. While it would be nice if they were larger, they'd also get more in the way while scrambling or squeezing through small spaces, so their size doesn't bother me. Getting the water bladder in and out is, I confess, a bit difficult, especially if the top zipper compartment is full. If there were a stuff pocket on the back and maybe bigger side pockets it would be handier in a way, but would make the pack less streamlined.

I bought this pack when I was 16, it was my first "real" backpack for hiking. I am now 21 and it still is in amazing condition and still fits perfectly. There are a lot of different pockets and you can fit a surprisingly large amount of gear in it. This backpack is perfect for anything from a short trek to an all-day endeavor. I absolutely love it and will buy it again if mine ever bites the dust.

Love this pack and am buying a Sirrus for my wife. I never thought I'd use the rain cover, and actually was going to buy another pack, but liked the fit and other features. I've used it to hike into backcountry streams to fly fish, and I use the rain cover to fit over wet wading boots, and size 11's wrapped up fit perfectly nested into the bottom of the pack, and the cover traps the wet. The side pockets work well to hold a rod case too. This is just a bonus, as the pack's system keeps me cool, and the pockets are well designed. I wish all packs came with a cell phone holding system on the shoulder straps, but very few do, so I use a timbuk 2 3-way holder.

I'm a small framed women who usually finds backpacks hard and heavy to wear. This one is wonderful - no back strain or anything. Was out for a week hiking everyday and no discomfort whatsoever - a Success! Thank you for creating a most comfortable wear.

Excellent day pack for hiking and comfortable on my petite 5’3” frame. My iPhone 7 fits in the waist pockets. The straps are easily adjustable and the back design means there’s air so no sweating. The options for adjustment are a bit overwhelming and would appreciate a more streamlined design but otherwise perfect.

I purchased this pack for my daughter and another for myself. It has been a terrific purchase, we hardly notice that we are wearing them! This is our first pack purchase other than book bags. There are many pockets, easily accessible for snacks/water. We sometimes add a water bladder and there is still plenty of room to carry our lunch and extra clothing. We've used them for long day long hikes and short 1-2 hour hikes, barely noticing that we are wearing them. I love the pack!

Am female, 70 yrs.. 118#, 5'6. Fits well; easy to pack. HOWEVER, went to a desert hike, needing h20. Daily it was an extreme hassle to thread bladder tube.
Extremely!
Bought an REI pack for male friend. Same size. Easy water access.
Osprey MUST correct this small water tube FLAW. It is! Plus. I MUST also carry a zipper bum bag aa aidw pockets Don't accommodate my cell phone. Why?! This is almost 2023! I may still recommend item but hugely disappointed in poor pack design. You can so better!!

I have the Sirrus 24 and love how comfortably it fits. I also love the frame for comfort and breathability. However, when I use a bladder, it takes up nearly the entire space of the interior. If I need to bring more than a snack and a smaller jacket (e.g, packable rain jacket), I find that I need to bring a water bottle and use the side mesh pocket to leave interior space. I still love the pack, but it's something to keep in mind when considering whether this pack will meet your needs.

Online the front straps aren't shown on any other website. I ordered black because I didn't want a crazy color and was very shocked when I received it.... bright Orange!! Really? Why not keep it grey or black in the front also? I mean isn't that the point of having it in black for those of us that want neutral colors. Such a shame.

This pack is perfect for my size (5'2" female) and is very comfortable to carry. The weight rides on my hips rather than my shoulders, so I never get sore. I love the wide waist band. The waist band pouches are nice and large, although they are a little further back than I prefer. It is hard to reach the zipper pulls. Although the load capacity is supposed to be 24L, the hydration reservoir when loaded in the pack, eats up about half that space. I love having the mesh ventilation area, although it could be a little narrower in order to accommodate the full hydration reservoir rather than having the reservoir take pack space. With my 10 essentials, a rain jacket, and lunch, there is very little space left. Forget about it if I need to fit a fleece jacket in as well. I would prefer not having the separate vertical zipper pocket on the outside since that space could have been used for the large pocket to give it more capacity, although it is a nice feature to store maps. The hydration pocket is very inconvenient to load. Anything in the top mesh pocket must be removed in order to get the hydration reservoir loaded. The hole for the hydration hose is very, very small. The bite valve on the hose must be removed in order to thread the hose through. In spite of its inconveniences, though, I do love this pack and hope that Osprey will listen to all of these comments and take heed.

The mesh suspension back & nice hip straps are the best part of this pack! It distributes the weight along your back & hips. Love the adjustable torso length. The shoulder straps seem a bit irritating. They ride into my armpits & the mesh fabric is kinda rough in that sensitive area. The pack itself seems small in storage space compared to others of similar size. The rigid back seems to limit it's expansion capabilities. I'm not a fan of the vertical zipper pocket on the outside & would rather have a stretch stuff pocket. I'm still trying to decide if this pack is going back or not. Afraid the straps will bother me & I won't have enough storage. The Skimer 22 seems roomier & has more comfortable straps, just not the nice back suspension & hip belts. Plus the Skimmer comes with the hydration bag, Sirrus (this one) does not.

I like the size of the pack and the pocket design and quantity is pretty good. The relatively small/tight opening for the hydration hose is not a problem for me. The pockets on the hip belt are a good size but they're a bit farther back on the body than I'd like - though adding some wax to the zippers plus a carbiner to extend the pull loop made it easier to open them with one hand. My main complaint and frustration is the sternum strap rides really high up by the clavical, close to my throat - and there doesn't seem to be a way to slide the adjusters down farther on the shoulder straps so it rides closer to the middle of my stermum

We are a small family that loves all kinds of hikes around our state. This is our first pack purchase and all three of us purchased the Stratus/Sirrus pack (husband/wife/petite teenage daughter). We have used it for small 90 minute climbs, two-hours trails, and eight mile glacier hikes. I am impressed that we can pack it full for all kinds of weather conditions or pack it light for a short walk and it it comfortable. We do not use an Osprey hydration pack, we are using another brand and haven't had the issues others have mentioned as ours came with a magnet clip. It is a little difficult to load the hydration pack full of water though. We hiked to Grinnell Glacier in Glacier Nat'l Park last fall and I barely felt the pack on my back the entire time, I had it fully packed with my gear and lunch for all of us. I love all the pockets and found everything accessible the entire day. I don't carry my phone for pictures since I have another camera, I kept snacks in my side pockets so I they were a good size for me. All in all, we are all very pleased with this pack!

The ruska purple color on the website is much more purple than true color. I just recently purchased this pack and the color is much more maroon in person. I love this pack so far, great for day hikes!

This is the pack I've carried for longer day hikes or if I my gear includes some extra weight; it has the suspension and the load capacity to do that. I like the way the load rides--comfortable, stable, secure. The vented back panel is a bonus in the heat of southern Utah. The pack is fairly light but tough enough to endure many miles and abrasive conditions. The compression system is not entirely convenient, with side release buckles on the upper straps that are awkward but must be opened to fully access the main compartment. The reservoir loads easily through the main compartment, but only if I pull out most of the load. That said, the hip-belt pockets and a small shoulder strap compartment are secure but provide ready access to small conveniences and necessities as I hike. I also like the two smaller zip-pockets in the pack. The main compartment is roomy and opens wide to accommodate large items or to find things that settle to the bottom, and there are adequate attachment points and a couple mesh pockets if I need to carry something outside the pack. I've rarely used the rain cover except as a splash guard on river trips, but it's a worthy feature.

I use this for walking, biking and running.
When tightened down, this pack doesn't shift at all when running, though you have to make sure it is perfectly adjusted otherwise it will shift off your hips.
I can fit my phone into the hip pockets, but just barely. I hope Osprey considers making the pockets an inch or so longer in the future.
The Airspeed suspension is pretty much the same as the Anti-Gravity and really does transfer all the weight to your hips. I found an instant improvement in my back pain I would get from lower-quality packs.
