Great hikers. Learned the hard way that Vasque Waterproof isn't waterproof, but Vasque GTX keeps out water. These hikers have already logged over 100 miles in the few months that I've had them & are even more comfortable than they were to start. I do use a Spenco insert as I have high arches. Loved the gray colors. Vibram sole really cushions the strike, whether rocky, muddy, or on pavement. Toe box is roomy, I ordered 10w as have issue w bunions; they were plenty wide but not slidy in heel as some shoes are. These were great right out of the box, which for me is true of Vasques; I can't wear Merrell's til they're broken in. The only thing I don't like about them is the grommets - it's hard to get laces looped just so to keep from sliding forward, and a couple times the laces came off the top grommet while hiking. Vasque can definitely improve there. Definitely would buy again. And thanks, Zappos, for letting those of us with oddball sizes & foot issues try on pair after pair til we get the right shoe!

Overall, Vasque makes great shoes. Having said this, I decided to buy a previous version of the breeze boot for a few reasons. First, the GTX II version (previous version) has more cushion and a curve to the back of the heel (the very back edge) which makes landing from a long stride easier. Second, the Virbram tread is thicker on the GTX II, by at least 1/8 of an inch - so the tread will last longer. And lastly, I prefer the laces on the GTX II. These laces are easier to tighten and adjust than the ones on the GTX III. Unfortunately, Zappos (my go to place for all of my house hold shoe shopping over the last 7 years) did not have the GTX II available. I found it through another online source. I hope this helps.

These boots worked well right out of the box; no breaking in time. Vasque boots have a last that works well for me in general; these boots were no exception. They give good support on the ankle and under the arch; there was room for my orthotics, always important for me. I note that on steep climbs, going downhill may be a problem for some in the toe box, but I had none, and am glad for the combination of style, support, suppleness and waterproofing. I take a 7.5-8 in street shoes, and ordered an 8.5 in these boots. I have a narrow foot, but chose the medium width to make sure the toe box would be big enough (it was), and because I needed to fit in the orthotics.

These are really great boots, however, I would suggest buying a 1/2 size larger than what you wear in street shoe to allow for feet swelling and thicker sock. I am returning the ones I bought but hoping to get

I ordered 4 pair of hiking boots and these did not make the cut. They are more boot than I needed. Very aggressive soles and they felt that they would b comfortable for a long hike on any terrain. They were comfortable and looked good on my feet. But I just need boots to get me down to the lake to throw a line out so I am returning them along with 2 Danner Boots - the Jag and the Mountain 600. I decided to keep the Ariat Terrain H2O.

After literally trying 12 different pairs of hiking boots, from Keen to Timberland, I kept these and I'm glad I did. Ordered a 1/2 size up and they are so very comfy with hiking socks. No break in. Great ankle support. Very lightweight. Although I don't see myself wearing these other than hiking, canoeing or camping, they are really good looking. Great padding on the sole. And the mesh sides makes them breathable-took them out for the first time this past weekend and walked about 1- 1/2 hours-easy trail but had them on for about 8 hours. And it was 84 degrees! Feet stayed dry and happy! I think most all of the true hiking boots are good quality, but you really need to try on several pair and in various sizes. Thanks to Zappos for being my "personal" shoe store, I knew these were "it" the moment I put them on......It was an "ahhhhhh" moment! Hope this helps!

The 8 was too small even ordering a wide. Not sure if the width felt "medium" because I need to size up overall. If you are borderline medium-to-wide, go with the wide.

Great quality boot, but they run narrow--even the wide (D) was too narrow for my average foot.

I have this exact boot in red. Perfect out of the box. The gargoyle color was just a little short and I know I won’t be able to wear them.

I wear a 7 and I got a 7, these fit true to size. I got these to replace a pair of Merrell boots that had finally given up the ghost. I don't regret spending extra on these higher quality boots. They lace up really well around my ankles, which historically for me has been a problem point. I feel extremely secure in them. Somehow they manage to be breathable and at least mostly waterproof. Very short break in period - basically no blisters or hot spots after an entire weekend backpacking in them new. When I wear them hiking I feel very capable and prepared.

This is one of the only hiking boots that fit my wide feet. They feel great after hours of hiking. Plenty of room in the toe box when all others shoes squeeze my feet.

Awesome for hiking! Wore these for the first time on a difficult hike to a glacier in the Cascades. So comfortable with no breaking in needed. Totally waterproof through several rushing water stream crossings. Completely happy with them and worth every penny! Feet stayed warm without getting sweaty. Paired them with Darn Tough socks. Great ankle support and very grippy. Limited sliding inside shoe when going downhill.

I REALLY wanted to love these. Spendy boot, but you're paying for quality. Very comfortable, very supportive. Sturdy shank without losing toe mobility and the heel brake looks great. I love the Vibram sole as well. Eyelet/hook lacing is perfect, with the first hooks right at the top of the foot for easy on/off and tight lacing to keep the foot from sliding and smashing forward (which I've experienced before and subsequently lost those toenails). Bought a half size larger to accommodate for foot swelling and they didn't feel like clown shoes. Just enough space for the toes to move freely. Loved the red color too. Yeah it's shallow, but it made me happy. What I didn't like and this is the only reason I returned them: they're too high. I like a lower mid because taller mids like these press into my calf when I point my foot forward and cause bruising and chafing. SAD! I did not hike in these, just walked around the house since I have to return them so I can't speak on performance. Definitely going to look for other Vasques tho!

I so wanted these boots to work out. They look great, and more importantly, offer terrific support. They really felt wonderful, except for one thing: the tongue is stiff, and comes up high, and it was hitting against my shin. My husband has these in the men's version and has no such issue, but I could tell it would rub against my shin and so these had to go back. Ended up with Salomons.

Love these boots! Vasque has great qualities, primary one being comfort. This is my 3rd pair, having worn out the other two. I'm a fan!

I bought these in both an 8 and 8.5 for an upcoming hiking trip in Scotland. I am a true size 8 and I felt the 8.5 left more room for hiking socks, etc. These are well-made, lightweight relative to other brands, and comfortable right out of the box. Have just been wearing them around the house and short walks, so fingers crossed.

I seriously love the way these boots hugged my ankles - great support all around! I ordered a 7.5 (my normal size) and then an 8. The 8 fit great length wise, but they were so narrow to the point of causing me pain. I have never had to order a wide shoe before and am hesitant to try these in an 8W (even though Zappos makes it easy to return purchases). I'll probably try these on in a brick and mortar store before I order again.

I first purchased these in a size 10 which is my normal shoe size but they were a bit tight so I went with the 10.5 and they fit great! I’m a carpenter and I’m on my feet all day and these are so comfortable and light weight. I definitely prefer them over a normal work boot.

Perfect fit and so comfortable that my daughter likes to wear them also. We trade shoes on alternate days when we hike.

I love the shoe but Zappos lost a customer. I was injured while hiking and am going to begin again and ordered these shoes.I named them Hope. I paid 179.00 for them and when Zappos asked for a review of the shoes the price is 129.00..That hurt my feelings.
