I love how lightweight it feels. Can definitely layer underneath, which is something I love to do during cold weather. The sleeve is a little shorter than expected but I can work with it.

Everything is good with the jacket except for the hoodie seems like it just too big to wear without disturbing me while I do something

I use this jacket as a outer layer when I'm out running around town and hiking. I have lots of big sweaters , I don't want to put on another big jacket and feel like I can't move . Love this jacket , feels great and looks great. Thanks

First things first. This jacket is a free warranty replacement of a first generation Venture with delamination of the Hyvent membrane from the nylon at the base of the hood and back of the neck. The Hyvent 2.5L is a good improvement over the Hyvent DT. It feels less like wearing a plastic bag. The heathered gray nylon (though still 40D) feels much more substantial. I'm 6 feet and 165 lbs (40 Reg jacket) the arm holes are cut too high (size Medium). Once I unzipped the pits that helped considerably with the constriction. This definitely limits options for layering though. I could easily fit a heavy weight fleece under the old one but the pits are too constricting on this one. The sleeves are also oddly long. I wear a 34-35 inch sleeve length and these sleeves still have a couple inches to spare. They almost reach my knuckles. They got rid of the elastic at the cuff which is a real bummer. The combination of elastic and velcro on the old jacket cuffs was incredibly useful. The zippers are not as nice on this jacket. They are less beefy and hang up considerably more often. The pockets are now lined in the front and vented in the back. This is a much better design that what was on the old jacket. Overall, this is a good jacket and a good buy even at full price. If you have an old one with peeling Hyvent, it's definitely worth taking TNF up on their warranty. 12 bucks to mail it in, gone for three weeks, and then got my new one shipped back for free. Thanks TNF!

I was really excited to grab one of these bad boys because everyone seemed to be wearing them. I loved how North Face throws a curve ball by adding some unusual color combinations depending on the season. I needed one because I live in Seattle and it rains frequently. I needed an everyday jacket that could keep me dry and this one didn't fail on that task. It kept me dry for numerous times and very versatile and light. I highly recommend this jacket.
HOWEVER.... We're human beings and I'm not only picking this jacket for it's use but I also want a sense of style. I would say the biggest downfall of this jacket, and almost all jackets from North face, is that it just feels TOO BIG.. It's a shame because the make excellent products but they just don't fit well. I'm not a small guy. In fact, I have an average built, 5'6" 140 lbs. It's a shame because other competitive brands have the size I needed. I wish North face made an XS size of this or may be adjust the FIT..
Other than that, it will do what it's made for really well!

Sleeves a little too long
in the upper back feels too tight and I like a looser waist band where this jacket has a tight one but it's not bad

This is a great jacket and really holds true to The North Face name. It is sleek, stylish, and is a dream in the rain. It does run a little big when it comes to sizing. I had to return it for a smaller size than what usually fits me, but after figuring that out it fits great. Perfect for fall-time rainy days!

Great jacket. Well constructed. Being tall and thin the body is a bit bulky but the shoulders and sleeve length fit well.

This jacket is On point. I bought 2 of these because of how suprised I was way these jackets held up. They keep u dry , lightweight and stylish all while giving u protection from rain wind and snow . I'm 6'5 and 245lbs and I got a 2X and it fits on point not to big and not to small jus right . If your a big guy with muscle and taller then average go with a 2X . The sleeve length is on point also . 9.5 out of 10

The jacket is very nice, but I was expecting it to be lined on the inside for comfort and to make it breathable. If it is wet and muggy weather this is not the jacket to wear. However, it's perfect for cooler rainy days.

Great look, and does its job perfectly well keeping out rain. Fairly warm for the material. Wish the cut was a little slimmer but see how that could be a hindrance if you're out hiking, working, etc.

First of all I love this jacket. I have been using this model for 11 years. It is exactly what I want. Keeps me dry, lets me add tops underneath as the weather requires (ie. from -40 c to +20 c - sorry for the metric). I wear it all year long. So here is the drawback that I am more than willing to live with. I have had 5 jackets. Bought one and then had the lining in the hood and neck flake off. Still loved the jacket and bought another one. Then realized the amazing warranty that the north face has and returned the first and had it immediately replaced with a new one. The second one then flaked off and then the third. I returned both (yes I was a little slow on this) and got 2 more jackets. I am now using the fourth and the fifth is in my closet. I wore the fourth on a bike ride from Vancouver, British Columbia to Kitchener, Ontario (27 days) and went through rain and snow and lots of wind with this jacket and although I did get a little wet inside from sweat on really tough days it was a great jacket to have on. I do wish that NF could solve the flaking problem but to be honest even if the declined to replace a jacket I will still buy another one. I know this is a kind of mixed review but the style, flexibility, waterproofness, durability and even the colours are what I want from this and I get it. So I will carry on. Oh and by the way for the cyclist out there the hood fits over a helmet and keeps the rain from going down the back of your neck - which most cyclist will understand is pretty annoying with most jackets that are worn with helmets.

After purchasing the bright neon green jacket and going in late night walks, I felt quite comfortable being out after dark as a beacon of visibility.
The coat is constructed wonderfully with excellent quality that you'd expect from NF. The biggest design flaw is the sleeve length. I'm 6'0", 185lb and althetic build - and while the rest of the jacket was a good & normal size "Large" fit, the sleeves were to the tip of my fingers. Yes, there's a Velcro wrist strap to tighten and adjust the sleeves, but I'd prefer them not cinched-up and it's annoying to have them be extra long.
As to breathability, I was truly hoping for the waterproof rain jacket to not be one that seemed to be rubbed lined (so to speak) on the inside...but indeed it is and so aside from using the arm-pit vents, the jacket is not breathable and I sweat in it in less than 45 min of walking while its zipped up. The good news ... it's truly waterproof and warm.
Overall, I'm very pleased, and would recommend.
