These are great, if only they'd hold up. Unfortunately, from socks, to shirts to boxers, Smartwool inevitably wears out far too quickly. I've got holes in my undies, socks & button-up shirt, which has led to a hole in my heart for this brand.

I had a few pairs of the previous model 150 boxer brief sent in for warranty replacement. I loved the old ones, but I had worn through the inner thighs so I decided to take Smartwool up on their guarantee. My old briefs were replaced with these new ones. Can't stand them. They fit so much tighter than the old ones, all around. The waist band is twice as tall as the previous model, resulting in folding in half no matter how long or short I wear them. My junk feels compressed, suffocated. If you think these are the new and improved version of their excellent 150 brief, understand that these fit and feel different. Only plus is that they do seem more durable than the old 150. Not sure I'll even be able to wear these enough to find out, though. They're that uncomfortable. Two stars because they seem durable.

These are too thin, they ride up your leg and are not as durable as the 195 that smartwool used to make. Still on the search for the perfect brief since the 195 was discontinued.

Same price as buying 3 individually, so why the 3-pack option?

The seam stitching the goes under the scrotum is very coarse! Leaves me raw by the end of the day. I suggest you fix that.

I bought about 5 pairs a year ago. 2 of the pairs have holes worn through the bottom panel. For the price they should have lasted much longer. Would not buy again.

I never write reviews but after a couple months of normal wear and regular washes (following the instructions) they are falling apart. Not worth The money. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I've used these boxer briefs as daily use briefs, however after about two years all 10 of the ones I purchased have worn through in the crotch area.

I love how these fit and do a great job wicking away moisture and keeping odor low. However, after a few months the inner thigh wore through. For the money they are not worth it.

Mine busted through the crotch like everyone else after 10 months. If you plan to use their guarantee, go for it, and don't throw the old away until you have new ones coming. Otherwise the price is insane for 10m of use. If you're active AT ALL these will destroy themselves under a year.

Waistband is too large M L. Tried a M M in another type and they were uncomfortably small! My waist measures 35" my hip 34". The waistband has overlap of main fabric inside which chafes against skin.

Bought Smartwool shirts and underwear, Darn Tough socks for daily walks. Shirts and socks have held up fine over the past 6 months. The underwear have worn through. For money paid, quality of underwear is very poor.

I bought two pairs of the Merino 150 briefs and I loved them. They fit great functioned awesome, but that's where the good stops. Less than 1 year of ownership of casual use and the waistband starts to come unthreaded. I still wore them because I paid so much for them. Then come the holes the same pair shredded on the inseam. To say the least I was very disappointed. Now my second pair is doing the same thing. Shredding on the inseam. If less than 1 year is all you get out of a premium purchase like that I couldn't possibly recommend anyone get these. I like them, but I'm not going to spend more money on clothing that wears out after less than 12 months.

I used to live in these but I owned the older models. After a few years they wore out so I replaced them. The waistband is too wide which I find very uncomfortable. Also, the waistband is now too thick. They did not keep dry the way my old ones do. I am sorry to say that is just seems like Smartwool was more interested in fashion and not function. I hear Outdoor Research now has they own version.

I bought these for backcountry trail work and hiking. After 1 month of wear a few days a week while only hand washing and hang drying I could see through the material completely, 2 weeks later they just started falling apart. For me to return them they wanted me to pay for shipping, which having already paid a HIGH price for the short just didn't make sense. I ended up using them to patch up holes in other Smartwool shirts. I have found other brands of merino at a similar or even cheaper price point to be much more durable and just as comfortable or more comfortable. I'm over holey clothes from Smartwool, the socks have been the only things to last for me. These are just a shame and I wish I did not spend my hard earned money on them.

Previous products from Smartwool that I purchased have been great. These did not fit - were too small. Very disappointing.

I have only wore smartwool underwear for the past decade! I was hooked after my first pair! But, the new waistband might be enough to make me switch products. The waistband curls in at the top and creates a thin tight band that leaves an imprint all the way around my waist. When I wear a belt or the waistband from my backpack the problem is compounded. If you guys have any of the old style I would trade these new ones out in a heartbeat! Seriously. If the old waistband comes back I will line up with the other fellas to be the first to buy some more. Please make the switch back soon, I am running dangerously low on the older styles!

As others have said the redesign ruined the perfect underwear.

I agree with the other reviews. The older cut was so comfortable and these ones aren't. If the old cut returns I would buy 10 more pairs. Until then I will wait.

As seen in other reviews, this used to be the perfect underwear but the fit is all wrong now. I was really excited to see they added some nylon into the merino for durability and I hope they stick with that. But I can't buy another pair unless/until they go back to the old cut. Please drop me a line if you ever do and I'll buy a pair for every day of the week.

I owned several pairs of the original NTS 150 Boxer Briefs (Size M) from a few years ago and they were unbeatable. After about a year, holes started to develop on the inner thighs and I was forced to retire my beloved boxers. I was really looking forward to a new pair, however, the new version is a terrible downgrade. The shorter inseam, tighter fit, and reduced wool component suggest profit margin has become more important than product quality. The thick waistband folds over and causes discomfort at the waist line. The shorter inseam will suffocate your manhood and ensure you never have children. And the fit... I wear a 31-32 waist and the Medium size (listed as 32-34) barely fit over my thighs and squeeze my waistline uncomfortably. I work for an outdoor retailer and cannot bring myself to suggest these to anyone looking for boxer briefs or a base layer. Please rethink your "improvements" and bring back the older version.

Absolutely disappointed in the changes made to the boxer brief. They are tighter, the inseam is shorter and why in the world do you need a massive waistband like you provided on the new version? What the Heck Smartwool? After reading reviews years ago about the power of Smartwools boxer briefs, I threw away all my boxer briefs after my very 1st pair and have been wearing the "Men's NTS Micro 150" for quite some. I will now be looking for a new product elsewhere. I'd give these a zero if I could. Extremely disappointed and will be returning my two recent pairs.

The old version of these were great. Wore them pretty much exclusively for years and only recently did two pairs rip. Bought 4 pairs of the new ones expecting the same thing. New waistband is much higher and about double the thickness (and way too tight) and the general fit is much tighter. The inseam also feels shorter. Bought these via Backcountry but will be returning.

I own four pairs of the old version of these boxers. They are hands down the most comfortable boxers that I have ever worn. They were expensive, but so worth it!I purchased a pair of the new model, but the new, inflexible waistband causes me great discomfort. I searched the internet to find overstock of the old model, but can't find them anywhere. This is disappointing. I was hoping to never buy a different pair of boxers again, except these.
