Not happy overall I've been wearing them for about 2 weeks feet are cold but dry. Also creasing forming around the big toe instep I'm afraid they will crack quickly.

Lacks the cushion I remember past Merrell's had. Returned and will search for a shoe with the cushion I need.

I would really love to like these shoes but there is so little if any padding on the sole they are very uncomfortable to walk in.

I grew up with MOABs. I had boots that lasted me 15 years and shoes I could easily get 5+ years out of. I finally bought the new GoreTex ones and let me tell you that I couldn't have been more disappointed. The sizing and width is true to size. The color is great. They look great and that's about it. Ever since Merrell did away with Ortholite insoles they just aren't the same. The heel to toe drop is significantly more than the older style MOABs which leads to a slapping effect when walking. the extra material on the inside of the tongue to keep it sealed presses against your foot when you snug the laces down. I really wanted to get back into Merrell MOABs again but I just can't. YMMV but my feet have not changed in 15 years.

My first month or so I thought these shoes were amazing when I used them on local trails. Then I took a trip and went on a hike that had a waterfall near the end. That turned out bad. Slipped twice walking on lightly wet rocks near the waterfall. Luckily there was a railing I had been holding on to on the first slip because my feet went full out from under me and I was able to catch myself. And like I mentioned they were lightly wet rocks with barely any angle to them. For a shoe at this price I expected more or at least to be able to handle wet surfaces for a waterproof shoe.

This review is affected by the fact that one shoe had a technical problem. The lining was sawn together with top of a toe part of a shoe and create a large permanent wrinkle inside a shoe, above toes. For that reason it went back. I see another review addressing this problem, so I suggest check both shoes inside (palm of a hand up because that is where the problem is) and check if all is smooth or not.
Otherwise, shoe looks good and is wide. I kept the same style in taller version as I preferred it and there was no problem with lining.
I would still recommend these shoes especially if you have wide feet but definitely checking for defects in lining.
Since I tried both pairs of this style, this and the taller one. I can say that the taller version is a bit wider and more comfortable. Just my opinion.

I've been purchasing Moab 2 mids for years and love them so thought the lows would provide the same service in a lighter weight shoe. Unfortunately the heel counter is way too low and rubbed my heel painfully immediately. So I'm returning them. I will be purchasing new mids soon!

Like Gor-Tex lining at this price and god looking shoe but the tongue on the shoe in uncomfortable, pushes into my foot on the edges of the tongue. Have only worn indoors at home so will be returning.

I purchased this boot several months ago, actually my third pair purchased, and they comfortable right out of the box. However if you are looking for a waterproof boot, contrary to the description, do not buy these as my feet get wet even walking in grass with heavy dew.

I love the fit and style of these shoes and Merrell quality in general. However I have owned 2 pairs of this model and they both suffered from sole separation from the foot-bed. The glue is unable to stand up to any kind of off and on damp/dry cycle. Especially in the rainy humid environs of Louisiana for more that 6 months.

The soles are extremely stiff. After wearing the shoes around the house for an hour, my feet were sore. And it wasn't just the fact the heels are new and not worn the way my old ones were. My instep and fore foot were sore too. Love Merrells, but these shoes were a disappointment.

In general love these shoes going back to the my favorites, Moab XCR. This shoe just does not seem to be the equal in terms of comfort and all weather performance. Don't get me wrong, still very comfortable for daily use as well as weekend hikes, however there are two troubling issues that I perceive; first is that the heel cup is stiffer and is a bit higher than previous versions, which for me, ends up like I am always slightly leaning forward; secondly (and more seriously) the sole feels harder and less "sticky" than previous versions of this shoe. Getting to my summary title - in a recent hike, we got caught in rain and the terrain was flat and rocky. The wetter it got, the poorer my traction t the point i felt like i was at points walking on ice.
As mentioned above, i haven't experienced this poor wet condition performance with early versions, so was still expecting a multiple terrain/condition shoe - so disappointed if this is the result of marketing to get people to buy multiple shoes that are dictated by what and where you may be hiking

I recently purchased the Merrell MOAB 2 GORE-TEX shoes for an upcoming hike in Spain. I was disappointed in the feel of the shoe. I made the mistake of assuming they would fit similar to my favorite merrells which are no longer made. I have hiked the Way Of St. James in France and Spain the last two years with no foot or blister issues. I have used the Merrell Capra Sport over the last two summer hikes. Lat year I hiked a total of 724 miles over 34 days and me feet did not suffer any issues, which I attribute to the amazing capra sports I used. being they they are no longer in production, I was forced to find a new shoe for my upcoming hike. I was disappointed in the general feel of the MOAB 2 gortex. My feet have not liked the feel of the shoe. I have tried to be objective and tried several hikes in these shoes but my feet just dont feel the same. Now I must find a suitable replacement. Any suggestions for something similar that Merrell caries that resembles the capra line?

The shoes I just received in March 2018 were much narrower than the same model, size and wide width ones that I purchased in May 2017.
The shoes I got last year were great, which is disappointing that the wide widths were narrower this time.

I initially purchased these shoes July 2017. They were a little large, as I mentioned in an earlier review. The comfort and waterproofing are good, but they literally started to fall apart after only 4 months. The sole has separated from the rest of the shoe and there are several tears/holes in the fabric. I've only worn them now for about 6 months, but they look like they're 6 years old. I've tried many other waterproof shoes for work, and it's hard to compare with Merrell's comfort, but I will only give them one more chance before I switch to another brand. I was hoping to at least get one year out of them.

I loved these shoes when I first got them. Very comfortable and great for walking through such things as tall, wet grass. Unfortunately, after just 7 months, I was dismayed when one morning I looked down and discovered the sole on my right shoe had begun to separate from the rest of the shoe! After removing the shoe and examining it closer, I discovered the separation extended to half the width of the shoe. Four days after alerting Merrell, I am still waiting to hear from their warranty department. I would expect a longer life span than 7 months for a "quality" shoe.

Destroyed the original packaging, so stuck with them. Good news is I'll only make this brand mistake once. Can feel tread pattern through shoe in balls of feet. No padding in insole, had to invest in OTC insoles to make wearable. Stiff midsoles-no roll to the foot.

Did not buy. Poor fit. Tight in the ball of the foot. Sloppy loose in the heal.
Also sloppy workmanship. Not up to the Merrell standards I know.

After less than an hour wearing these Moab's both feet had nasty blisters on the heel. It appears that there is a ridge on the hill connecting plastic and softer material; that's where the blister occurred. Still can't wear them after a week even after putting heel pads on the material and blister pads on my heel and can't return them because I wore them. Merrell Moab's are not what they used to be :(

The heel of these shoes broke down after only 3 weeks. A thin plastic piece broke through the padding and rubbed on my heel, making them unwearable. I don't "toe off" these shoes, and there was no other reason for this to happen besides just walking in them. I will not be re-buying Merrells.

Returned. Good construction, but too rigid and not wide enough. I have neuropathy in my toes and need a roomy, non-binding shoe.

Shoe feels cheap on the inside. Lacks in comfort. Inner Lining material makes a fairly loud popping sound when walking.

I bought these to be a spring/fall shoe for when the temperature is cool, but there is no snow (eg. temperature in the 30-40's) or wet weather. I had a pair of the exact same shoe (same size) that I wore out over the course of 6 years because I liked them so much, so I bought the same thing again. They have changed so drastically that they are absolutely useless.
They have changed the cut of the material, so they are slightly shorter and the foot opening is wider (or tongue is larger, can't tell) so it offers virtually nil ankle support over uneven ground. After 100 miles, they still feel rock hard, stiff and haven't broken in at all.
But the kicker? The worst traction imaginable over wet terrain. They shouldn't even be considered hiking shoes because of it. As soon as the ground is wet, it's like you're walking on oil-slicked concrete.
I was so excited when I got these, because I loved my previous pair so much. But after 100 miles, I have to get rid of them and switch to a different brand. I am so disappointed in these shoes. Don't waste your money.
