I've switched back and forth from a few brands. I ended up buying a pair of Moab 2 ventilators non water proof mid rise and was blown away as they were comfortable, light weight and supportive . They wore evenly , self cleaned almost and I just loved them. So when it was time to get some new ones just cause the old ones were kinda old and dirty looking I figured I'd get the same ones . I went to cabelas in Avon OH and was sad to see they didn't have the same shoe buT instead had Moab 2 select dry. I was like well , even better . The only thing I wished were different about the other ones was that it would be sweet if they were waterproof. Bam done. Not the case. Inside a week of getting them the guts inside the back heel of the shoe came lose under the lining and shoved to the bottom of the shoe. I always untie my shoes and loosen the laces before putting them on or taking them off. It kills me when I see people walking on the back of their shoes. I make it a point to wear my shoes properly. I really can convey the inconvenience in trying to fix the wadded up guys of the shoe so it rides above my heel. I bought them in Ohio on vacation and left the receipt somewhere up there and then went back to work on the pipeline. After my hitch I tried swapping them out and the person I talked to at the cabelas near Tulsa said I had to have a receipt So they knew when I bought them, and I didn't So I'm just hoping it was a fluke. Not sure if I'd get another pair or not. My ventilators were awesome so I'm guessing it was a fluke. Oh well. I'm going to try and find a happy medium between safety toe work boots and safety toe shoes. So I guess it's not a problem.

I have been a huge fan of Merrell footware and have purchased 4 - 5 pairs over the years and decided to purchase this Moab 2 a second time as my first pair was such an great experience. After wearing these boots for 3 months, my feet started to ache. I purchased insoles/inserts hoping they would fix the problem but it was only temporary. I am hugely disappointed in these boots and I wear them daily during the fall and winter months. It may be due to just a 'bad batch' but I am concerned about quality drop. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this as I need another pair of boots but am hesitant to go with Merrell again?!! :-(

I've only worn these boots twice. The first time, I got a blister on one heel despite wearing Wright Socks that usually prevent blistering. The second time I wore these boots, the top-right fabric eyelet (before the metal top hook) pulled out when I was putting on the right boot. It seems the fabric eyelet was just glued into the surrounding leather, with no stitching or other physical retention method. I'm very disappointed, as I've had several pairs of non-waterproof Moabs that were durable.

Thank God, these shoes wasn't my first time with Merrel . Because if that was a case, would be the last time. Nothing extraordinary, feels funny when you walking. Not have,.but like you wearing boots all covered in mud. Anyway, I know Merrell, got a lot of their products and I'm always happy, but these NO. Everybody makes mistakes....just remember...learn from it.

I am not happy. This is my third pair of Moab's. I've been nothing but impressed in the past Broke them in by wearing them to work and around town. Like always. Went on a hike , it was a rainy day. On the way up the right shoe gave me a little trouble with traction but seemed to improve with getting "scuffed up". On the way back down I was "skiing down ". The wet granite rock balds . No traction at all. The 5 other people in my group had various other brands of hiking shoes and had no problem at all. Going hiking shoe shopping again.

I've had two pairs of these boots and the same thing happened to both. After about 6 months of use the sole started to separate from boot by the toe. It happens on the inside on both of the boots.

This boot is not comfortable. After wearing it each time my foot hurts for days. I will not be able to wear it in an upcoming hiking trip which I bought it for. I'm very disappointed.

I recently purchased a pair of the Moab 2 waterproof boots, in the description it said there good for all seasons, I have to tell you these boots are very warm, my last pair of hikers were water proof and all season and could be worn all year around . Very disappointed, wearing these boots this summer is out, you should check them out at a store before you purchase.

I received these boots as a gift at the end October of 2018 and was initially very happy with them. Now at the middle of April 2019 the sole is pulling away from the upper on the right boot. Not sure if it is just bad quality control or what but my last two pair of Keens lasted me over two years each. I probably wouldn't buy these again.

Comfortable but really dropped the ball when it came to the waterproofing. Both of mine let water in when hiking a few days after it rained. There were a couple semi deep puddles, but that shouldn't matter for a waterproof boot. If it hadn't been marketed to me as waterproof it would get 5/5

This boots’ locks are. promising but it’s extremely uncomfortable- the arch support is too high and steep. I guess I’ll stick to Keen

Love the comfort of these boots. If your working indoors you can't beat them, I'm on my 3rd pair in a year and a half working outside. They have all leaked within 3 months. Shopping tomorrow for dry boots. I haven't tried the Moab 2 yet only the first ones.

My Moab 2s failed me during my summit on Whitney. The boots leaked in the inclement weather , which included snow, rain and sleet. The bottom corner of the sole , where it says Vibram , tore off at some point . It left me a right boot with no outside heel and made it hard to Hike. It definitely made me question the overall reliability of the botot Despite the failures of the boot it was still super comfortable. I broke the boot in and had no blisters and no hot spots for 22 Miles on the trail. I even wore the wore the boots home on the drive home and they were still super comfortable.

I bought these around December of 2017. I live in Colorado and hike the Rocky Mountains regularly. I needed a good pair of boots and knew (or thought) that Merrell was a top brand as I have heard about them before and usually recommended them to others. However after only 9 months these boots completely destroyed themselves. The Water resistance is not very water resistant as my feet we're soaked the first time I wore them from walking through wet grass. I had to soak these in waterproofing about once a month to keep my feet dry. After about 6 months I noticed some stitching coming lose and breaking. At first it was gradual but just kept getting worse. The glue around the soles have separated completely at this point where the shoe bends at the foot and any amount of water or dirt completely coats my foot. The front toe cap is easily torn after awhile and have multiple rips and cuts from simply kicking or tripping while hiking. I was also excited to try the Vibram soles as they are supposed to be Merrells top of the line sole, but after only 9 months the bottoms are worn so much that the outer rubber on the sole has worn so the under layer of rubber is now showing through. I have always thought Merrell boots we're good quality and im sure some are but not this model, and i'm not willing to spend money on another pair to try again after the first pair didn't even last a full year. Not sure If this was just a one time thing or I got a bad pair or what, but I don't see myself buying another pair or recommending them to anyone else.

I bought these to replace a pair of Merrell j24611s that were close to being worn out. I liked those boots. These boots appear to be pretty close. Fit is pretty much the same. I replaced the insole with a Superfeet so I can't talk about that. Right off I noticed how sweaty my feet would get. I've worn leather work boots all day and my feet didn't get as sweaty as in these. I've received complaints. I'm going to try to return these and try the Ventilator version.

I tried these shoes at Dick's and Zappos. At Dick's it was difficult to find a pair without defects. Inside the shoe there would be inconsistent bunching of fabric at the toes in most pairs, very irritating. The one pair I did find without some variation of this defect had other issues common to all the pairs I tried which I'll describe below. The size 10.5 M seemed to fit lengthwise, but was quite narrow otherwise. From Zappos I tried a 10.5 W which was too wide. In all cases the shoes were rolled upward at the toes in an extreme way so that you'd always be standing on the front pad of your foot and your toes would never actually be supportive unless maybe you were standing on your toes with knees bent balanced like Michael Jackson in a freeze move. It's too bad because they are an attractive shoe in appearance.

I wear size 12M in every shoe and boot I own. That was until I bought a Merrill Moab 2. Suddenly, 12M is too short and Size 13 is too long. Does Merrill care? If they did they would produce a 12.5 boot. But they don't. This is a shame because the boot felt comfortable at first. Two wasted trips to the store and I don't have any boots to show for it. Had to return them. I wonder how many more boots they would sell if they actually were sized properly? Why isn't the company fixing this problem?

I'm a brand loyal person and this is my third pair. The fitting is excellent and I didn't had to soften it. I go for 10-12 days trek in karakorums each year. The sole is not rugged enough to protect you from sharp rocks on the track. Shoes are too soft to protect you from ankle twist. Last year at Nanga Parbat Circular trek, even at 4000meters my feet froze. In short these can be used for small walks in the fields but not hiking in the mountains where there is snow and rocks. Now I've said goodbye to this brand

Too tight and not as much support as previoue Merrells I've owned. I wear a 14 medium and never have issues with sizes when buying shoes. I ordered these online and should not have. They are too tight and have little instep support. I returned them. I tried on another pair identical to them at a mall shoe store near my home. They were also too small. The next size, 15 medium, were also too small. They a incorrectly sized. Merrel's quality control has gotten poor.

I love merrell, and it has always served me well. I just ordered the Moab 2 mid waterproof and after one hike one of the rear soles is starting to peel off. I am disappointed with the shoes durability.

Bought these for an upcoming trip on the AT. Bought them about 3 weeks ahead of time and wore them every day for work to get them broken in. Very comfortable, no pain or hot spots etc. Did a couple of short hikes and was confident that these were going to be great. 4 hours into our hike, granted it was raining and the tail was wet and we were avoiding big deep puddles etc, but I could feel my feet getting wet. I never went into water deep enough to even cover the toe of the boot. Really disappointed that these are not waterproof like they were advertised

How much more would it cost for a better foot insert? 1/8 of inch more and I wouldn't have returned them.

Do not wear in cold weather! My feet freeze in these and I got them bigger like I do all the Merrell's I buy so I can wear 2 pair of socks. I swear my feet get wet in these, it says waterproof but mine sadly are not. I love this brand I always get Merrell's but this batch of shoes must have been made by new employees because this is not the norm for Merrell.

This is my 7th pair of MOAB style boots. This is the first pair that doesn't have Gortex as as the waterproof liner. I can tell this will be my last without the Gortex. The Merrell brand liner doesn't breathe like the Gortex does, and as a result, I'm left with hot sweaty feet and boots that are already starting to smell after just 6 days of wearing them. I'm a high school teacher, and I wear the boots for about 10 hours a day. For all my years of wearing the MOAB/Gortex, even on the football field while coaching, I never felt hot/sweaty/smelly feet at the end of the day! Merrell, stop trying to improve a once great product. You got it right years ago!!!!!! CS-please help!!!!!!!
