I love the responsiveness and the cushion about this shoe. I used this on my ultramarathon and cushion really held up to its name. quite bad when I went to the store the wide version isn't available so I bought the regular, but it was still ok, and could have been better if I had the wide version.

This shoes provide good support for my flat feet and my over weight body. I run about 7-10 miles per week in them and just got my second pair.

So far these running shoes have eased knee and ankle pain. Run 5-10 miles, 2-3 times per week.

This is my second pair of Hoka. First was Clifton 2 which I really liked. These I actually like better. Great for controlling pronation. Took 7 sec/mile off my pace in the first run. The only negative comment I have it the toe box feels a little small and some heat built up during a 3 mile run. Hoping that reduces as I run more in them.

Poor SupportGreat Support
I struggled with whether or not to return these. But in the end, I find that I just can't live with the cutout at the back of the ankle area. It's just too stiff and high for my foot. The two padded ends hit my ankle bone and cause soreness after several hours of wear. And, although the shoe looks like it would provide a very soft and cushy ride, it does not. It's very stiff and hard. I finally decided that these would need to be returned. Thanks to Zappos I'm able to keep trying since I really have got to find some decent shoes that fit my horrible feet!

When I first put it on, I noticed great cushioning under the toe pads as well as they heal. I walk everyday with it. Still like it after a couple weeks but wish the toe pad cushioning would have stayed like it was on the first day. I would rate it about a 7 1/2- 8 out of a 10.

Slight tightness in right foot but I like the shoe. Not sure if I should buy wides or regular in this model but I'd buy again.

Big Hoka fan here. Love the way these look. They were sized smaller than expected. I usually wear a 10.5 in other brands, my last Hokas were 11s. Had to bump up 1 full size up to a 12 so these fit right. I gave them 4 stars because they're not as comfy as my old Constant 2s but they're still a fantastic shoe.

I have a hard time finding shoes that work with my orthotics. These work and provide great stability with cushioning. I also have a pair of bondis, which actually fit better- not quite as snug as the gaviotas- and feel great underfoot, but lack the stability I prefer. I find I switch off between these models, but the gaviota is overall a better shoe for me.

Very good support and excellent cushioning but runs too narrow. Tried Arahi model as it has an option for wide, but it has no where near as much cushioning as this. I do wish Hoka is listening and comes out with a wide option !

I have wanted HOKAs for years and now they finally have a wonderful shoe for pronators, with small arches, and a little wider toe box. I have used a competitor shoe for over 20 years without issue. I sized up 1/2 size as recommended at the store and it feels like I have good toe space at the end. The toe box is borderline too narrow for me, but if I loosen the laces as far as they will go, I can get away without much foot pain. The problem is the blisters on the end of my toes. Not sure if the slant of the toe box towards the big toe is too narrow or it has something to do with the toe box itself being too narrow. I have resorted to wearing these everywhere EXCEPT running. I have wanted to love this shoe for years, but I guess it's just not in cards for me just yet. I'll keep checking on future models to see if toe box gets wider and maybe fixes my issues.

This is an excellent marathon training shoe. I've put about 50 miles on mine so far, and they've been great from mile 1. They have ample cushioning, yet are still fast and light. They fit my narrow foot as well, which is always hard for me to find.

I started running in these within the last 3 weeks (May 2017). I only distance run in Hoka's. This is a new model for me. It's early, but thus far these shoes work quite well. I run on some paved and some dirt roads. I average 5 miles per run, 2 - 4 runs a week, but am training up to Marathon distance for an October IM. I moved to Hoka when I started long triathlons.

The shoe is comfortable enough, but I was disappointed that the toe box was narrower and not as roomy as the other HOKA shoes I've bought

If you're having sizing issues with Hoka and you aren't trying alternative lacing methods for a better and more comfortable fit. You are literally doing it wrong. I run in 11's and enjoy the comfort of 11.5's through a range of Hoka shoes and every model I wear has a different lacing method used. Haven't had to return a single pair out of four Hokas owned! Gaviota though, very fun. good for my extra tiring runs that draw that harsher fatigue!

I do light trail hiking and working out on elliptical after having heart ablation surgery last year. I was using the Stinson 3 ATR to help in my recovery and weight loss workouts after my surgery. I bought them as first pair of Hokas to battle heel pain from plantar fasciitis. The Stinson 3s started making my foot numb between the arch and my toes, but loved how Hokas helped my heel pain. I decided to try the Gaviotas this year. The Gaviotas are very stable and light but feel a little narrow. Hoping Hoka comes out with a wide version and I will have my new shoe for life.

I wore the Brooks Glycerin 13 for about 4 years straight and it wasn't until my parents mentioned the Hoka brand that I started looking into them, just something new to try. For the Glycerins, I was using them for everything: walking several miles across campus, running, weightlifting, hiking, you name it (well, not swimming), so I wanted to know I was making a worthwhile investment. And I have to say, the Gaviota by Hoka are fantastic. It's like walking on a cloud because of the large amount of cushion you get. I feel like I'm walking on a bouncy house as I stride across campus on these things, and I love it. Because not only do they help my posture, but they're a great fit for: running, walking, weight lifting, and I have yet to try it, but I'm gonna say probably for hiking as well. The difference is drastically noticeable. I wore the Gaviota for about 3 weeks straight and then wore my Glycerins for a day and it was like walking barefoot again and that is with insoles. With Gaviota, I haven't had to insert any insoles, just the ones that come with the shoe. The only downside I've noticed is that after wearing them say 4 or 5 hours, they do feel a little snug, but nothing that makes me not love them. If you're going to wear them a lot and use them for long duration activities, I highly recommend them. I usually don't write product reviews, but I think the Gaviotas are worth it, plus if you get the orange ones, you'll get a few people commenting how much they like them as well!
