Normally wear Cliftons (which I love), but wanted to try a shoe with a little more stability, especially for walking. These would be fine except the material on the back of the shoe seems to go up way too high. It smacks into my Achille's and causes soreness there. So I don't wear the shoes much.

I find Hoka's run large. Normally wear a 1/2 size bigger just for running and walking but with Hoka's you can wear your true size...otherwise too big.

I bought these because of the advertised stability. I hoped to experience the HOKA cushion paired with stability and foot guidance I am used to from my ASICS. This was unfortunately not the case. As another reviewer mentioned, they look huge (wide) and then they seem narrow or flat to a point that they compress the blood out of my foot, and your foot gets super hot. I do not give up easily on anything so I did not give up on my pair and figured out the correct lacing technique to allow blood flow into my feet and found a good insole for my arch support and foot guidance. So now in combination I like to run with them, but, yes, just like...not love. Overall not what I expected hence my low rating.

After leaving my Asics Kayano 21 (size 8.5 wide) in a hotel room while on vacation, I needed a quick replacement. I require shoes with at least moderate stability, and like a soft, cushioned feel. I tried on the Hoka Arahi, Kayano 23, brooks transcend 4 and Saucony Hurricane ISO 3 at a running store- and decided to take a risk and order the Gaviota (size 8.5). The Gaviota offered more stability than the Arahi, and I also much preferred the look. However, after 3 weeks of walking/gym use the top of the sock lining on both shoes are fraying/splitting! Considering the price, I am quite disappointed with the durability thus far. That aside, I love the cushioning and support the shoe offers, as well as the width- which is perfect for my borderline wide and flat feet.

Wanted to really like these shoes, but even after order a whole size larger, my feet when numb half a mile into my run. Re-laced to allow for more room across the toe box, but still ran into numbness. Had to return.

Great fell under foot. This shoe does not feel like the typical stability shoe. The feel is natural under foot with good transition heel to toe. Good toe box width and stable in the heel. Tongue is notched which creates rubbing (like the Clifton tongue better) and some of the overlays on the upper rib at times. Would really like to see the tongue changed otherwise solid shoe.

I needed to replace a pair of Hoka Challenger that had worn out. I tried the same model, but they were different. After trying many other shoes, I tried the Gaviotta. They have worked out wonderfully. I used orthodics which fit well. I needed stability shoes and these fit the bill. Thanks for giving me my mobility back with these great shoes.

I was surprised at how narrow these felt in the tie box. I am Glad that the 2017 models seem to run true to size again. Last yrs models seem to run short and 2015 were so narrow I almost abandoned hope b/c I love my Hokas. This pair was not a fit for me. But those with more narrow feet may enjoy them.

I finished my 10th 1/2 marathon in these last weekend. This was the FIRST time I have not had to duck tape up my inner arch to prevent blisters....no blisters, no "hot spots"....not one!! These shoes are amazing! I'm back to buy a second pair!

A nice super stable, max cushion show that doesn't weigh a ton or feel heavy on my feet! The wider toe box is so nice since most other shoes squeeze your forefoot so much. Very nice looking shoe as well.

I was hoping to love these but they are very heavy and narrow for my foot. I usually wear the Hoka Clifton 2. I gave these a few tries and each time I ran in them my legs felt like they were dragging and my feet would go numb. I do wear them for work as I don't do much time on my feet at work. They are very cushioned and give my feet great support. So for anything other than running I would recommend.

Purchased these shoes form recommendation of podiatrist for my planters fasciitis. However there was not enough cushion to protect my foot. Good looking shoe with plenty of room for my toes in fact I thought it was a little too wide at first.

Let me first state that I am not a runner, though I dearly love running shoes. If you see me running, it's because something is chasing me. That said, I love these shoes. I have plantar fascitis and was skeptical of trying a brand I'd never heard of before, but I'm so glad I did. This particular style is designed for overpronators - and it's amazing how my feet feel after finally figuring that out and having a shoe that aligns your feet to counteract that rolling. These are super cushy and supportive. I haven't even had to put my orthotics in them yet. Yeah, I'm amazed too. I sometimes need a wide width, but the medium in these was more than sufficient, with ample room in the toe box. I like the dark navy color too - it doesn't show up with dirt as easily. Very nice shoe.

I had them for almost a month, didn't love them like I do with the Clifton and Arahi. They are too stiff and heavy, but if you're looking for a solid stability shoes, these are the ones to get. I prefer the Arahi as I don't need that much stability.

I love this shoe. I was very disappointed when the Constant, which I used to wear, was redesigned (and did not fit me properly), and then discontinued. The Gaviota is as comfortable and supportive as the original Constant. I have several joints fused in both feet, having torn both posterior tibial tendons, which required several reconstructive surgeries, and wear custom orthotics, and these shoes are perfect. Although it does not come in a wide width, I find the medium to be sufficiently wide to accommodate my orthotics. I wear these or the low Hoka Tor every day, for everything I do. As it is extremely difficult for me to find comfortable, straight - last shoes, I am thrilled that the Gaviota is available, and I pray that Hoka doesn't mess with the design or discontinue it! I might have to stockpile these. Great colors, too.
