I have been a die-hard GT 1000 Asics shoe wearer for over 10 years but recently the design and fit has changed so I was in search, sadly, for a new walking/running shoe. I tried the Gel Venture 6 and GT 1000 6 but neither fit appropriately. The Gel Venture 6 comes up higher on my heel than I'm used to and the GT 1000 6 ran very small and narrow. I ordered the Gel Contend 4 and have found they fit very similar to the "old GT 1000" that I had become accustomed. I ordered a 8.5 Wide (D) and they fit great. The back of the shoe does not come up high like the Gel Venture 6 nor are they extremely narrow like the GT 1000 6. The Gel Contend 4 has gel in the shoe similar to how the "old Gel GT 1000" so the shoe fits comfortably in the foot arch as well as in the toe area. I'm very pleased with these shoes and plan on purchasing another pair for my back up. Always have to have 2 walking/running shoes at the same time.

Really happy with my selection here from Asics. Comfortable shoes and size 8 feels true to size. Also, they are very very appealing to the eye!! AA++

I've worn these for the past couple of years and was due for a new pair (I bought two pairs). I'm on my feet all day everyday and this shoe stays comfortable from the time I put them on until I take them off. If you want a good all purpose shoe, I highly recommend them.

I've owned this style for a few years and just purchased a new pair. They hold up extremely well. There was no break-in period. Took them on vacation and wore them walking all over the place. No problems and they really were comfortable!

Great fit out of the box for a 13 y.o. with a narrow heel. Hiked 5 miles in them right after we bought them - no blisters, no problems.

I have bought Asics before (previously Gel Contend 3 [no longer available] so this time ordered the Gel Contend 4. I always buy a full size larger than usually needed - I use for walking several times a week and for Zumba classes.

Asics comes through for me again. I always buy 1/2 a size up in running shoes, so they're super roomy, but that's on purpose. They're a little wide in the toe, but that's okay with me.

Perfect fit, loved the style, just decided that white wasn't practical and didn't like the style in black.

Really cute and comfortable sneakers - my 11 year old daughter stole my pair so I have to get a new pair for myself!

Definitely size up 1/2 size

This is the 2nd pair I've purchased. I love this sneaker, the fit & width are perfect for me. I do a lot of walking & ware an orthotic so I take out the inner-sole to accommodate for the orthotic.

These aren't that unfamiliar with me, as I've worn Asics for about the last 8 years now, which is why I KEEP wearing them. I have had a couple different "styles" and don't think I've had the Contend 4, but it pretty much fits like the rest I've had... perfect! I wear a regular size women's 10, and to me the width, length is always right on. I didn't have a black pair of sneakers so is why I ordered these, and I can always use another pair to just switch out. The only negative (and not really that negative) is I wished they'd have put a little more cushion insole in the area of the ball of front of your foot. I'm going to wear them, I am sure they will break in within a few days. I tend to hit hard when I walk, and would always welcome any more cushion, insole that I can get.

I love Asics; this is probably my 4th pair. They are reliably comfortable and supportive. Some of the newer models seem to have thinner soles, but this particular model is fine. It felt a tiny bit more snug than my last.pair, but there was Abit more room in the toe box, so I'm happy. I generally wear a size 5.5 or 6 in street shoes, but 6.5 in athletic shoes.

Nice shoe. Definitely order a half size larger, and definitely add your own inserts.

I love the Gel-contend 4. I am on my 4th pair. Very comfortable and work well with my arch supports. I just didn't like the color I chose therefore i am returning them for a different color

I’m an ASICS person through and through, and I’ve re-ordered these because they were HUGE. Seriously, the 8 looked and felt like a 9.5 on my feet, and I’m usually a pretty solid 7.5-8. There were inches of space in the toe box and I looked...odd. However, I like the general style and price point if these shoes, so I’m re-ordering. I think the other reviewers are seriously mistaken in saying these run small—no way. Enormous. I have wide, awkward, hobbit-like karate girl feet and had accounted for long toes... my mistake? Order the smaller end of your usual size range.

I love this brand because it is comfortable, feel light as air and they make my large foot appear smaller than other brands.

Great shoe, ASICS always feels one size too small, I usually wear a 10, bought a 10 1/2 which works, but could easily wear an 11. If I used them for running I’d recommend one to a half size larger depending on your foot.

My wife loves the style and comfort of this shoe. Great for walking too!

Love the colors. Super comfortable and perfect fit. Great for a beginner runner.
