These pants are really great for hiking, outdoor activities and leisure. I am 6.5 tall and 95 kilos and struggle to find long enough light weight soft shell pants, but these pants in XL extra long fits well. Best pants I have had in this category.

Last fall I got the Gamma AR pant for the cooler weather. I loved it so much I had to get the LT version for the warmer days. I wear these for everything from climbing to causal around town.
Light and breathable enough I don't over heat in the warmer spring and fall times, and amazing range of motion they don't hinder my climbing at all.
I'm amazed that with the amount of times they've been rubbed against sharp granite there is no sign of wear.

i have worn these hiking for a few years now. They look as good as the day i bought them. I've worn them in the summer or in the winter (just below freezing), they seem to keep me cool/warm when I need it. They aren't waterproof, but are a bit water-resistant in light rain. The pants themselves don't hold water, but the water will eventually soak through if you are in heavy rain for an extended period of time. They dry fast though. I'm 6'0' 200 lbs and the large size fits great. they seem very durable and resistant to abrasion. Also the material is fairly stretchy which is good for hiking.

This pant is excellent for all-purpose uses, ranging from light hikes, to deep winter sports. It is extremely comfortable, stretchy, and breathable. Yet is is water repellent and, when paired with long underwear, can also be used for light winter activities such as snowshoeing.
Having owned the two other heavier variations (AR and MX), I simply prefer the LT for most West Coast, non-powder activities.

First I have to praise the "True Fit" suggestion tool. I normally wear an S on other brands but I was recommended an M size for these pants. At first I was hesitant but ordered an M as suggested. And the result was way over my expectations. The pants fit like a glove (albeit a little bit large on the inseam, but no hemming required). They are super comfortable to walk with and sit perfectly on the waist thanks to the integrated belt.
They are quite light but look sturdy, so I don't have any doubt that they will perform perfectly on the field.

Bingo!

I was looking for two things from these pants, firstly a pair of winter hiking pants for the UK and also my biggest challenge a pair of technical pants cut for the more muscled athlete.
They perform well against winter wind and shed light rain so ideal in southern UK winter but these are LT so minus temps they are going to need a base layer or shell to keep you warm.
The fit is more generous than some other pants so my track and field thighs are comfortable in these!
Overall really pleased and they perform just right for what I want.

I think the highlight of this pant is the amazing fabric. It is EXTREMELY rugged for its light weight. I have used it numerous times climbing rough sandstone splitter cracks and to my surprise it barely shows any wear. I've taken it bushwhacking, glissaded in it, and just been plain hard on it, and it looks almost new. The only things that have managed to give this pant any problems are thorn bushes; so if you are planning to deal with a lot of those, you will want something a bit burlier. Its also extremely well articulated so you never feel constricted in your movement which is another feature I love! Similarly pocket placement is awesome, with a large thigh pocket on your right which you can STUFF full of snack bars etc. The cinch cords on the ankle are also extremely useful, as this has a very long inseam. I like the inseam for doing high-steps, as it keeps your boots or shoes covered. The only thing I would add would be a lightweight lace hook.

These fit a little on the big side but I love them. shed water good in light rain, can layer a merino wool underneath and they breath very good. They work the best on a cooler summer day. no comparison between the patagonia simple guide, Gamma Lt wins no contest.

This is like the non-insulated "wind pants" like you had as a kid, only on steroids. They are not for super cold weather excursions alone because they are not insulated but i got a six bigger and their is plenty of room for layers underneath. I would totally recumbent these to anyone, my brother liked them so much he is going to get a pair.
Did I mention these were awesome pants!!!

i've used this pant form multi week overland travels to hikes in -1C temps with warm leggings underneath. It's probably the most versatile piece of clothing i own. The fabric is light and breathable, but still burly enough for scrambles and climbs. i like the draw strings at the cuffs, so it's day to roll them up when the temp gets too warm. No rear pockets mean you don't need to worry about sitting on keys, wallets or your iPhone.

I adore my Gamma LT pants.
Firstly I love that they come in different leg lengths. The medium-tall fit me like they were tailored for me, at 6'4, 33" true waist, 35" true in-seam. I don't even need to use the in-built belt.
Secondly, as expected the build quality is just flawless. Perfect stitching, perfect cut.
Thirdly, they are the perfect combination of lightweight, comfortable and functional. I've hiked in them in sunny 20C weather and not overheated and used them below freezing with leggings no problems. It's true that they don't repel water for very long, but no woven softshell does once the DWR has been overwhelmed. Not a substitute for shell pants, but better than any other pant for anything but hot weather.

I have been wearing these pants for the past 3 plus years almost daily as street clothes. I am 56 and wear Areteryx almost exclusively because of the comfort factor built into their clothing. What more can I say. Not just for the young...................

I love these softshell pants.
I bought the XL because of my large cyclists legs and glutes and they have fitted me perfectly, allowing a full range of motion and are very comfortable.
The only slight issue I have had is the waist band loosening occasionally.
They are very windproof and are surprisingly warm.
I have worn these mountaineering in Kosciousko National Park (Australia) and Aoraki Mt Cook National Park (New Zealand) in the past few months and found them excellent.
They are wearing well, even after a lot of "bum-sliding" on wet, icy snow.

These pants are my go to pants for most outdoor activities. Their mobility makes them great for rock climbing and they are amazingly durable-no issues after rubbing against rock. I have also used them in cross country skiing at about -5C weather with only a light base layer and they breathe great and also block a majority of wind.
I am most impressed with how water resistant these pants are for being a lightweight softshell. I recently went canyoneering where we were splashing through knee deep water 50% of the time. Most other people were wearing dry suit pants as the water was pretty cold. I was too cheap to pay for the rental dry suit and decided to use these with a light baselayer. With cinching down the bottom cuffs, the water stayed out for over 2hours and when a bit did seep in, I still stayed warm. I was amazed as I was expecting to be wet the whole time. They then were dry within 30 minutes in cool weather.
These are exceptional pants and I will be buying more regardless of the limited colour options.

Awesome pants - just disappointed that the long length is only available in black! Please make Tungsten color available in Medium Tall!!! Who wants to wear a lightweight pair of black pants in the summer?
Also, your sizing goes from short at 30 to reg at 32 and tall to 35 - could never understand why tall is not 34 like everybody else!!! I would think 34" meets a lot more people's needs including mine.

Easily my favorite pant. I wear it almost everyday. From hiking to going out on a Friday night to golfing, I just love this pant. I couldn't be happier and will be getting the new tungsten color very soon. If you even considering this pant, then get it.

These are really good hiking pants. The material is light, smooth, and comfortable. Although light, the weave on the fabric is tight and the pants are surprisingly durable and slightly stretchy. Good water resistance, good wind resistance and very breathable. The fit is on the trim side with stitching that mirrors natural leg movement. I've found these to be perfect on fast, light climbs and all day hikes in cooler weather. For my tastes they work best in spring and fall or early summer mornings.

Lightweight yet windproof, water-resistant, breathable, durable... for real they are the best pants I have ever owned. Have got a few crampon nicks in the ankles and the fabric doesn't run or split apart and the DWR is long gone. Have bashed them for 2 years now and they are still going strong! Pockets are a bit small with gloved hands but apart from that these pants should never be changed!

I own a ton of Arc'teryx and love these pants. They are more than they seem. As far as pants (shells) go.. I also have the Beta AR (hardshell). I LOVE those also, but are often overkill. These pants are EXTREMELY versatile. Very lightweight and VERY breathable. But I've also used them in very cold conditions. I hiked in Denali (AK) for 13 hours straight in -5 temps and was warm and comfortable. In cold weather, with light insulation.. they are great when on the move. They shed snow and light rain great... but I'd probably choose another pant for heavy rain. The face fabric is VERY VERY durable for how thin the material is. I'd say fit is somewhat small, but in a good way. I'm 6', 170 lbs... and Small - Tall fits perfect. They fit tight (athletic), but not too tight, and in a way you want pants like this to fit.
Like I said... I love my "bullet proof" Beta AR's for extreme conditions.. but often, these are the right tool for the job. And since they are a thin soft-shell - very comfortable! I get moving in these and don't even think about them - which is what you want from a pant like this.

Just took these on a 14 mile in wet snow/rain and they stayed completely dry. It was as if my legs had there own climate control, the temperature stayed consistently comfortable despite several changes in weather and activity level. The fit was excellent. Durability is still TBD.
