The Gamma LT Pant will help you take your outdoor excursions to the next level of enlightenment. By virtue of comfort and functionality, you buy into perceived value - one of my big qualifiers when selecting an Arc'Teryx product. The Gamma LT Pant fulfills this role by giving the wearer options in where they intend to use.
When wearing the Gamma LT Pant, I was in 15C weather with high winds and sporadic rainfall. Though air permeable, I didn't find that the wind was blowing through the pant too much. More so, while there was wind penetration, I wasn't left feeling as if my legs were freezing or even hinting at being uncomfortable. Heat retention was a-ok. Zero sweating.
Adding a bit of rain to the mix and the DWR coating worked as expected. Keep in mind that there are differing degrees of DWR coating and since these are simply a hiking pant void of Gore-Tex, through personal experience I don't expect the DWR coating to last too long before having to reapply. So, during testing, a light rain was not an issue (I also washed the pant before hand). After a few washing cycles, I expect the fabric to begin absorbing moisture and a treatment will be needed. A bit of a side point, but something to keep in mind: When you see "DWR" you're potentially signing up for the maintenance of the DWR for that garment once you buy it.
The Gamma LT Pant is so comfortable and the brushed waist line is a nice touch. These are a straight leg, crotch-gusseted pant with the goal to reduce restriction of movement. During hiking, I did not feel like I was fighting the pant to walk, or that the fabric was too stiff or that the legs were too tight. Everything seems to work well together. Also the belt works great, never loosens and is easy to use. Additionally, the front zipper is easy to use, and I have yet to discover it has worked itself down on its own (like some Arc'Teryx pants have done in the past; i.e. customer complaints).
The fabric is abrasion-resistant and strong for intended use. Consider that term. The fabric is not rip or tear proof or indestructible. Take that for what its worth. All things considered, the fabric will eventually snag if you are hiking around anything pointy or with a high Rockwell. It's just going to happen, period.
In summary, the Gamma LT Pant wears well, is comfortable and moves with you. The DWR coating is just enough to stay dry during a light rain fall and wind protection is above standard. I would recommend this pant for those of you looking for a Fall/Spring hiking pant.

These are the best pants I've ever worn. I recently had to retire my first pair which I wore for about three or four years. They are great bush pants in summer, you can get by without gaiters if you forgot them, just cinch the cuff tight around your boot. In winter just throw on some base layers and go as cold as you want. The snow sheds off them perfectly. They fit easily under ice rescue suits, swift water rescue suits, bib overalls, climbing harness, you name it. The G-hook is just the best waist belt system, you can undo with one hand very easily. I paid full price for my first pair, totally worth it. Just got two pairs so I don't go wearing one pair all the time (wife thought I was crazy). I wouldn't go for a thicker pant unless you are in serious bush and you think you will snag them. It IS possible to snag them, I did crawling over a big log, caught the back of the leg on a branch stub. Applied one of those nylon repair patches and never had another snag, just was more careful when climbing over stuff. About the only thing I wouldn't wear these for is working on wildfires.

These pants are hard not to wear everyday for me. I use these for just about any activity. They are extremely lightweight and durable. The leg pocket is ideal for carrying extra items.
A MUST for any hiker/outdoor enthusiast.

Bought these pants for multi-pitch climbing & backpacking. Great for approach (light and water repellent), durable on abrasive dolomite/limestone, good length (36" inseam) I'm 6'4" and the length was great to keep full ankle coverage even when seated to keep the bugs off when back at the bivy/campsite. I'm ordering another pair!

These pants are the best. Never smell, can take a serious bushwack, warm in snowy conditions, would buy again in a heartbeat!

I have two pairs of the Gamma LTs. Black and green both are killer pants. Great stretch to them. Have worn them winter and summer with no complaints. Great pockets. Wouldn't mind one in the back but I don't really miss it that much.

Best pair of hike pants. Fit well, look great. Wore them for 12 days in Nepal. Nice trim fit, not baggy or heavy like other pants. Very comfortable

I'm coming up on 1 year of my first Gamma LT pant purchase. It was also my first Arc'teryx piece.
I stumbled into the brand when researching designers that made well tailored, very slim fitting casual clothes in my measurements (XS is exact on the money top and bottom). I was already getting into more outdoor activities so it seemed like a good fit and was part of how I justified(hah!) the very high cost.
While I may have been fooling myself initially, I'm now convinced they are worth the price. Aside from some black finish wearing off the pocket zipper pulls, this first pair still looks brand new.
I've done a bunch of miles with a pack and zero wear around the waist/back. Lots of technical hiking/scrambling, knee bars and all kinds of sliding on my rear end. This is on very coarse AZ rock too.
Since they still look new, this allows me to transition them to the city with ease and get full value from these pants. Great casual pant while also being perfect for the gym, dance class, travel, all the random active urban stuff you do while stuck in the city during the week. I bet they are great cycling pants!
I sort of just thought out the many the things I love about these pants and to write about the rest would be way too long so here are just a few important bulleted thoughts instead.
-Complete free range of movement. This is first and foremost the thing I personally adore most about these pants. I have a more mobile than average bottom half and I never realized how awesome free movement in street clothes would be. I find I need to express this very cliche thought, but I just forget that I have them on. I don't ever have to be distracted by getting bound up or pinched.
-Awesome travel pant. Just awesome. No binding, breathable, durable, stain/liquid repelling(I seem to need that feature while traveling...like every time.) and decent sized zipper pockets. Good for shifting weather when you stop somewhere cold on the way to somewhere hot (or vice versa)
-SO so hard wearing. I can't believe what I've put these things through and the fabric shows no signs of wear. Again, I can forget about these pants and just get things(...no bad language allowed) done.
There's so much more. I think another reviewer asked if you can love a pair of pants. My answer is yes.
Please make more garments in XS!

This is my first pant I can truly say I love. I have an extraordinary issue with buying pants. I deal with many different physical practices and I never was able to find pants that would allow unrestricted freedom of movement and would not make me look like a homeless person. I jump, climb, I can do splits in those. I am looking forward to seeing how they will last with the variety of activities I do.

Having owned these pants for 8 months now I would highly recommend. I put them through some skiing , rock climbing, and hiking and it performed well in all domains.
While not a pair of pants for skiing, they worked in a pinch as long as you aren't falling constantly and sitting on watery surfaces all the time. with a pair of baselayer underneath I was adequately warm in below freezing temperatures. when they did get wet, they dry very fast.
What I love the most about these pants is how resistant to abrasion they are. Many times I was worried that I had ripped a hole in them bushwhacking or crashing badly while skiing but they still look unscathed and brand new.
Perfect pants for rock climbing when the weather isn't blazing hot. The stretchy fabric allows you to do all the moves that you'd need to do to succeed while protecting your legs.
some of the Cons are that it is noticeably crinkly when walking however it no longer bothers me now and i am able to tune it out. It can get quite warm in these pants through hot days since there aren't any vents or anything. Unzipping the pockets and allowing air to flow through the mesh pockets helps a little. It can get a little damp when sweating and moisture does sometimes build up on the screen of my phone so i try and be careful.
TLDR: Versatile pants that are at home in many different scenarios. Can ski, rockclimb, and hike well. Nearly impossible to rip holes in them. little noisy, and can get a bit hot in mid to high summer.

This is the third pair of gamma Lt pants I own. They are really comfortable and tough.
I use them for everyday and hiking and am super pleased with them.
I would love another pocket on the left thigh for us left handed people.
These are still my go to pants.

I absolutely love these pants. The fit, feel, and quality on them is top notch. I probably even wear them a bit too much, but that's ok. These make for the perfect hiking, climbing, or backpacking pant. Don't ever stop producing them!

Amazingly light fabric but very protective, nicely breathable and flexible. Just add a base layer underneath and good to go in ANY conditions. Last week snowshoe up ski area in 15 f degree 25 mph gusts and stayed plenty warm for both the up and down.

I have been using my gamma LT pant (pilot, M) which I have purchased couple of weeks ago. I needed a technical gear for hiking and tracking as well as daily use, specially in the rainy day, this pant fullfilled all of them. lightweight, durable, rain / wind resistant and very soft to my skin.

These have become my favorite outdoor pants. Durable, light-weight, comfortable, they wash-up well, don't stain and seem to retain their DWR after several washings. I have sensitive skin, and the the brushed interior doesn't scrape my legs like other tech pants can. If it gets too cold, I just wear some long underwear underneath them. They also look good for weekend casual wear.
I've worn these in the rain numerous times, the DWR is OK for light rain but if you brush up against anything or walk through long grass they'll soak through. They will dry fast.
The built-in belt is a nice feature, it's not bulky and avoids the bulk of belt loops or an external belt. I initially wondered how effective the built-in belt was, but I haven't had any issues with the belt slipping loose or becoming undone.
I like the draw-string leg openings, and although Arcteryx doesn't seem to mention this in the description, there are a couple of small grommet holes on each leg to run shoelaces through so you can tie the pants close to your boot and avoid using a gaiter.
