Buy your usual size and the fit is spot on. No quality issues and yes, if you're a regular sneaker wearer, well made footwear will be stiff to start with and you will have to break them in.

I bought a pair of black Chelsea boots about two months ago. I have never owned a pair like these. I have about 30 pairs of Allen Edmonds in other styles. (numerous Strand, Standmok, Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue, etc.) These Chelsea boots are hands down the most comfortable pair of shoe/boots I own! I would wear them everyday if I could. But if I did, I would miss out on wearing all of my other AE shoes!

I was worried which size to pick after reading the reviews. I'm a size 8D, and have already owned several AE pairs in this size: Park Avenues, Normandys, some double monks, etc. Many here said to pick a size wider, while about the same number of people said to get the regular size and break them in. I didn't know what to do. In the end I decided to buy the regular size. My thinking is that AE knows what they are doing and it doesn't make much sense for them to have their customers always trying to figure out which size to order based on the different lasts. Why would they create a shoe for their 8D customers that is actually a smaller size? Didn't make sense to me. So I figured, if these are tight on people who normally wear an 8D, they probably just need time to break in, because they're chelseas and not laceups, so they should be a little more snug for a good fit and not to come loose. They arrived and I was so disappointed. They were so tight on one foot it actually hurt for a while. I really thought about sending them back and ordering an 8E instead. But I decided: I made my choice and I would stick to it, and listen to what others have said, to give it time to break in. And I'm glad I did. It took about 10 hours or three days of casual wear, but the super tightness went away, and now they fit snug and perfectly. No pain no discomfort. Just a good fit. So I would say, trust AE's sizing. Get your normal width fit. Give it time to break in even if it's uncomfortable and you think they're so tight that you should send them back. After a while they will mold to your feet. And don't go a size smaller in length either! My toes are right at the point of the toebox where they won't fit anymore if they were any smaller. I know some recommend not only going a width size bigger but a toe size smaller. I literally would not be able to fit my foot into a size 7 1/2 shoe. So get your normal size both width and length! Looks wise they are sharp and sexy looking without being too dramatic. The leather is soft and flexible. They look amazing with a pair of dark wash denim or some gray slacks. The possibilities are endless. Order your normal size and give it some time, you won't be disappointed.

Just received the boots and they arrived in poor condition with creases already in them. They also run extremely narrow as I ordered a 13D and could not get them on. The color is very nice and shipping was fast. I would not recommend these shoes for the money.

The boots are quite superb in manufacture and a joy to look at. I wear a 10.5D in all Allen Edmonds but needed to purchase a pair in E as they are very slim fitting. A very versatile boot wearable with jeans, Chinos or a suit. A true staple for one's closet.

The product is overall great purchase. Leather quality is great for the price and I know that it will last a long time. Great heritage and shape. Love my new boots

This is my 3rd pair of Liver Pool Chelsea Boots. I get compliments on whatever color I'm wearing ALL the time. They are a perfect fit for any dress up or dress casual occasion especially when looking for a boot style finish while still wearing slim straight bottoms.

The shoe is just what is advertised. It looks great dressed up or dressed down.

I got these on a 25% off sale and at that price I think they're excellent. I tried multiple Chelseas from similarly priced manufacturers and these won. I don't live near a store to get sized, and it was a bit frustrating trying to get the right size by ordering online, if I'm honest. I'm glad I kept trying, though, because I love these and they're very comfortable. I'm a fairly consistent 11D but 10.5E ended up working with these. So maybe I'd say they run a bit narrow, at least compared to run-of-the-mill stuff. I like them so much I got them in another color. Uppers are great quality, stitching looks well-done and they can be recrafted when the time comes, adding even more value.

I would definitely size up on width. This is a stunning boot but it is VERY snug. I own many Allen Edmonds and have never sized up in width but had to on this boot. For example, I'm normally a 10D, which was very constrictive. Exchanged for a 10E and it was perfect. So thrilled to have these boots!

I wear size 14D in the Higgins Mill boots. I've had chelsea boots before in 14D from another brand, so I ordered size 14D once the old ones wore out. Unfortunately they were too narrow, so I tried the 14 in 'E' width and they fit perfectly. I'm really pleased with the quality. The leather was great but there were some frayed threads--nothing that a quick pass of a flame couldn't take care of. I plan on purchasing a second pair in a lighter color.

Perfect fit. A-E gets it right with the B width. Handsome well-made boots. They draw compliments.

Second pair of factory seconds on these. First set was black, new pair olive. I love 'em. Both pair's defects were utterly negligible unless your paying full nut. They fit fantastic and are built GREAT with nice thick, soles. The shape is modern and sleek; not at all stodgy. Comfortable and durable. My only complaint is my own fault I reckon; olive is more like a black olive not a green color. I wish they were a burnished dark green olive. But I'm keeping the second pair. I'll see if they can lighten up and burnish with wear and I'll try to bring out the green color from the almost black color. Absolutely recommend these even at full price. But if you can score factory seconds-GO FOR IT! Only YOU will ever notice any blemishes with careful inspection! Still an Allen Edmonds fan for the USA dress shoes and boots!

Fabulous boot. It is comfortable, with a great leather finish. I threw a layer of brown polish immediately to the surface to enhance it, and protect it from the elements. Will definitely buy another pair in this style, and sole configuration.

I found these boots to be perfectly crafted and stylish. They were my first pair of boots from AE, and I was not disappointed. The fit is excellent, being that the shoes hug your feet and offer a nice contour.

Purchased one week ago. All of my prior AE dress shoes are an 8D and I wear an 9D in the Alpha sneaker. When I first put on the boots, I thought they were too small, in the forefoot fortunately I read a review that forewarned about this, and the reviewer recommended that they would loosen up over time. I am glad I listened to them. I tried on an 8E for comparison, and although initially the forefoot felt better than the D, I felt the ankle was area was way to loose. So I stuck with the 8D and I am glad that I did. After wearing them for a couple of hours the forefoot leather loosened up nicely and they now fit like the rest of my AE 8D. In summary, go with your original AE size, and give the boots time to break in.

Beyond my expectations! Very comfortable. It's more of a fashionable boot vs. Cowboy boot look. The leather is a little thicker vs a thin Italian boot. Also the sole is a soft rubber. Not leather sole. 10 stars!

I've been working in D2D sales in these shoes. I've even hiked up a big hill in them. They're durable, comfortable, dressy, and casual at the same time. They certainly get a little hot in the sun, but the belt and shoes add a quality shine to my outfit, if anything it makes me feel good!
