This boot walks in the sweet spot you could call dress rugged. It's crafted to withstand getting to work through foul weather, but styled not to look out of place with dress pants. It has a nice smooth ankle profile so your pants don't get hung up on them. Other thing I love is that the toe box feels wide without looking wide. Big problem though, the tongue of the right boot won't stay in place, it keeps drifting off to the outer side leaving the laces directly on my sock. I've tried breaking it in carefully. I even performed microsurgery to try to release the base of the tongue where it attaches to the rest of the boot. But it's no good. The problem remains. If I just lace the boots without using the top 3 hooks, it's wearable.

Another review said that the tongue had a tendency to slide to the side and they were right.

Excellent boots. I got the dark brown. True to size. I measure 9.5D on a Brannock and got 9.5D from these. 9D was not comfortable in the toe area. 9.5D fits perfectly.

Bought these boots for my husband, and boy are they handsome! Very well made and you can tell that they are of high quality material and craftsmanship. Hubs has pretty "bony" ankles and often complains about boots hurting his ankles when he wears them, and he was pleasantly surprised when these did not hurt. As other reviewers have said, these are also versatile. He wore them hiking (easy hike mind you) and then turned around and wore them out to dinner and a show that same day. A wonderful boot, and a "forever" addition to his wardrobe.

Shoes showed up looking worn and damaged. Great fit and style. Might try to find a "new" pair to purchase.

Nice boot. Well constructed. Pretty comparable to the pair of Alden Plain Toe boots I currently own. First wearing tells me they may break in a bit faster than the Aldens. True to size for me at 11D. Chromexel leather is great as always. First time Zappos Customer. Great experience so far.

A great boot with good arch support (I have high arches). Allen Edmonds really nailed the shape of these. They hug your heel and arch while at the same time providing room in the toe box. Incredible versatile and really comfortable to walk around in. Highly recommend.

Some of perhaps the best boots that Allen Edmonds makes. These are also perhaps the most ready to wear out of the box. I actually had a pair of Allen Edmonds finally give up the ghost and needed a new sole, but I was flying to Austin that afternoon. So I was a little concerned with getting a brand new pair of boots to wear through 3 days of airports and travel, but these were pretty much ready to go out of the box. The leather stretches so they will fit just a tad tight at first but they will feel awesome once they warm up from your feet. Also they are good with both normal dress socks or smart wool thicker socks. People also notice them, I had at least 5 people ask me about them during my travels. Very happy. I do think you want to size these a tad tight, I wear 10.5 E's usually and in fact have multiple pairs of Allen Edmonds (Nashuas, Long Branches, Rush Street) but I went with a 10 D for these, so maybe get your normal size and a half size down to see which one fits better, you want them a tad on the tight side to start they will stretch to your feet and be about perfect.

This is my second pair (black) after owning a brown pair for over a year. Love these boots. Great with jeans, sports jacket and nice pants, or even a suit if you're not in finance or appellate court. The sole is super for walking, even in bad weather. In terms of sizing, I typically wear a 15 but in AE I wear a 14, and these fit perfectly. Can't say enough. Enjoy.

These are the most uncomfortable boots I’ve ever owned. I’ve worn them for multiple weeks and I still can’t get the leather to break in. There is a lot of tightness and pain around my ankle and the top of the boot.

Looked great, felt great, until they started falling apart after 6 months. Soles separated and cracked. Leather on the tongue ripped. I was wearing 1-2 times a week, sometimes less. No unusual conditions. I wrote to Allen Edmonds and sent pics but was offered nothing more than to have me send the boots back and wait for a response in their predicted time of 6 weeks. Sorry but I did not pay a premium price just to be offered more hassle. I'm going to wear them out and not buy this brand again. Maybe I got the one bad pair? OK. maybe. But I expected, considering the very high price, that a demonstrably failed product would be replaced immediately.
