I thought these boots looked great on the page and looked to be made really well. I was right. I haven't gone on any hikes but I've made several long drives and played a few music performances behind the drums and these shoes work well with my feet. Plus, Edmonds has sizes for wider feet. No complaints at all.

The Higgins Mill boot is a well crafted boot made from excellent materials. They are probably the most comfortable boots in my collection. QC can be a bit iffy though. The first pair I received had loose grains and the welt on both boots had cut marks in it but the second pair was just fine. Order a half size down because they do run a little large.

These are top notch boots which can be worn all day. A few things to consider though. Be sure to size down by a half size, and give these boots some time to break in. In my experience it took three or four days before I was able to wear them and feel confident I wasn't going to have blisters or chafing.

I'm always nervous about buying shoes because my feet are hard to fit. I was really pleased when I slipped on these boots. They felt great right away. I wore them around the house for an hour and they are completely broken in. They look great with jeans or khakis. I only wish they came in a tan color.

I've had this pair of Allen-Edmonds (Higgins Mill) for a few weeks now and I really like them. They are made from a high quality leather that seems to be aging very well. A friend turned me onto their brand by buying me a pair of dress shoes. I was impressed with the quality and knew that I could trust these boots.

We got these Allen Edmonds Higgins Hill boots in my husband's size, and he found them to be too heavy for his liking, and since he always wears slip on shoes, he was unwilling to take the time necessary to lace them up. However, our son loves them so much he has taken over on them even though they are a size too large. The brown leather is beautiful, but needs some breaking in to overcome the stiffness. He has recieved many compliments on the boots, and wears them for both work and recreation because they look great with slacks or jeans.

Let me start by saying WOW! This classic looking mid-high boot looks great. Ive been wearing these daily for about 12 days & during those days i got numerous compliments on my boots. I live in town wear style is appreciated so its been a nice addition to my collection. The brown color is the pair i got & they go well with a pair of dark jeans or slacks. The stitching looks amazing, also it looks hand done. The only problem i have is that i need a pair in black now!!!

Wow! Great pair of shoes or boots or shoe boots. Not something I would typically order or wear. Guess I am more of a loafer guy. They fit to size and so far they are very comfortable and really well made. My wife says they look great with jeans. I did not know much about the Allen- Edmonds brand but based on this pair of boots I will be back.

My son loves his Allen-Edmonds Higgins Hill boots! They are very comfortable and look great with jeans and with a jacket and collared shirt. The boots are very well made and masculine looking without being clunky and heavy.
The workmanship on the boot is great with a lot of attention to detail in the stitching and they are made with high quality leather.

Ordered the narrow size and they fit perfect. Hard to find hip boots in a narrow size. Wow! These are well-made. Expensive but noticeably better materials and craftsmanship. They even smell like real leather. As others have commented, the leather is stiff, but that just means they'll last.

Overall, these are really nice shoes. The style is fantastic and they pair nicely with jeans, khakis and even suits (for reference these are the 'natural' color).
I've had the opportunity to wear these Allen-Edmonds Higgins Mill shoes for a couple of days and have received several compliments (always welcome!).
Just a word of warning... these are made of really nice leather, but they are VERY stiff. After a couple of days, they're a bit less stiff, but I think it's going to take a while to break them in.

As all Allen Edmonds shoes, these boots are exceptionally well made. The style is timeless, and wears well for both casual jeans or dress paints. The boots are comfortable and fit well with good ankle support. The sole grips well. They are easy to get on and lace up. They run a half size under true. Excellent boot.

I like the Higgins Mill boot in brown. The style is excellent and the sole is great. This is my first pair of Allen-Edmonds boots or shoes and I am impressed by the quality. The only negative that I experienced is that the top/opening of the boot is uncomfortable against my lower calf and shin. This is a surprise as my foot is very comfortable in these boots. This discomfort may be a function of 1) a need to break them in, 2) I generally wear thicker socks, and/or 3) my legs are thick/muscular/fat/husky.
Pros:

First of all, why would anyone design a "Rugged lace-up boot, inspired by American loggers" without a gusseted tongue?? The (non-gusseted) tongue on this boot wiggles every which way, making it very uncomfortable to wear, not to mention diminishing boot's weatherproof capability. The workmanship is on par with other AE products, with the usual quality control issues: sloppy work on the welt, sloppy work on the lining (wrinkled up and detached from the upper in some places), some kind of sharp object (like the end of a stiff plastic thread) sticking out of the lining and poking my foot. As for the leather, the main issue I have is how the boots creased: one boot is showing almost no creases, the other boot looks like crumpled paper. These boots are true to size, with room for thicker socks. Nevertheless, I found them uncomfortable to wear and difficult to dress. I think this is just another overrated and overpriced product trumpeted by online reviews and AE own marketing.

The fit was good, and the style was great. I am returning the boots, though. On day 3, a grommet popped out of the leather. 3 days in! These had been tried on before, they were laced and not in an AE box, so maybe something happened before I got them. I have lots of AE shoes, so I know this is unusual, but regardless, I am returning and ordered a replacement direct from AE.
