I believe this shoe far exceeds the Mephisto Match. AS a matter of fact this is one of the most comfortable shoes that I have owned ...I am 70 yrs old with peripheral neuropathy. I am considering purchasing another one in case they discontinue the style...price aside try them.

I'm amazed that I'm the first one to review this shoe. This is my fourth pair of Mephistos and definitely the Paco is best walking shoe I've ever worn––and I've worn many. I'm a professional traveler and extreme walker, this shoe has everything going for it, including a good amount of water resistance. The sole is brilliant––absolutely no slipping on any surface. The construction? For the price you pay expect the best––it delivers. Also a shout out to Zappos––Mephistos are a pain to order because of size variances with each model––Zappos was spot–on with the size recommendation. Thank you Zappos.

I taught 5-day engineering short courses around the world for over 20 years, standing about 7 hours per day while teaching. In the evenings my feet ached badly. I tried a number of different "comfort shoes" and athletic shoes and they were all very comfortable, but still at the end of a 7-hour day my feet really ached. I finally bought a "ridiculously expensive" pair of Mephisto Match shoes being influenced by their "walking on air" claims. Well, the "walking on air" was hype and they did not really feel any more comfortable that the others. But to my surprise, at the end of a day my feet never even felt tired. I wore those shoes for 18 years of travel, walking and standup teaching and never once considered any other shoe again. And they were nice enough in appearance that I never had to carry extra shoes (I am a travel light fanatic). I did always carry an extra set of insoles to swap out every evening. Now retired, I recently bought a pair of the Pacos which I wear for walking and while standing several hours at a time (painting and drawing at an easel nowadays). I find the Paco as good or maybe even better than the Match.

The shoes are heavy. Placing arch supports in makes them more comfortable. After only two days of wearing them, a dent started to appear at the base of the toe box right above the laces (see photo). This rather unsightly depression takes away from the style of the shoe and you would expect better at this high price range. They run about 1/2 size big.

This is my first pair of Mephistos and they are excellent shoes. Instantly comfortable. No break in required. I walk on rainy downtown Seattle sidewalks and the grip is excellent. They look good with jeans or casual slacks.

Noisiest shoes I have ever owned. Sound like I'm walking around with water soaked souls squeak - squeak - squeak. So load that I can not wear to the office for fear of someone saying Wow those are loud. Wish I could return them but probably have waited too long thinking they would get better. Other Mephisto have served me well. DW

Very comfortable and roomy shoe with excellent support. It replaces Mephisto Match, which seems less well made and less supportive in comparison.

Beautiful shoe, but too big. Hope Zappos stock has better size selection soon; I would reorder quickly!

Simply put, the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. Slightly geriatric styling, but if you're looking for a shoe that is exceedingly comfortable to walk long distances in while feeling like it's quite well made, this is the shoe for you.

Truly one of the best pair of shoes I've owned. Splurge and get these. Very comfortable for all day walking around town and in the office.

Shoes seem a quite a bit larger than expected. And they're heavy. Nice shoe, but not for me at the price.

I was expecting a higher arch and a more snug feel. They were a bit heavy for my liking.

The shoe creased immediately after only a few steps. The crease was horizontal at mid foot. You could even “see” your big toe through the leather. I was tild the creaking is due to the pseudo waterproofing. Otherwise heavier than advertised. On a positive note, they feel GREAT.

Everything fine, but I prefer the boot version.

Very comfortable. Typically have to use insoles but none needed with these. Hope they are durable given the cost but that has been true with past mephisto shoes

I am a confirmed Mephisto buyer from the first pair I bought 22 years ago. They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. This purchase was my fifth pair of Shoes I have purchased from Mephisto. They require no breaking in, fit my feet perfectly, and after 3 or four years of abuse, I can send them back and for $100 the rebuild them and send them back in new condition. I Love these shoes.

I walk a lot and had been burning through about two pairs of shoes a year. Naturally, that began to get expensive and I only need one pair of old sneakers to cut the yard in. So, wanting to step things up a bit and invest in a really, really nice pair of shoes, I went to a Mephisto store in Seattle and got "the full experience". So I've already logged 100+ miles in these and am absolutely in love with them. They make my walks so much more enjoyable. It's like my feet aren't even part of the equation anymore. I only notice my feet when I get a rock or twig in them. I can wear these pretty much anywhere and they fit in. Classy enough to wear in a semi-formal setting, casual enough to wear to the gym. These are truly my "everyday" shoes. I'm going to up my own ante and get another pair in a different style soon. Bottom line- It took me 30 years to find a shoe that hits all the notes. Yeah, they're pricey, but the good thing is that these can be resoled again and again so I'll have these for pretty much the rest of my life.

These are great shoes. They are comfortable and I have tested them by doing several long walks. One of the best pair of shoes I have for walking

My second pair of Pacos. The Dark Brown Nevada is extremely stylish, both soft leather and supportive. Fairly light, with excellent sole tread for walking off pavement. This is well worth the relatively high price.

Have only worn shoes a few days, but very impressed with comfort, materials and craftsmanship. Surprised that my back, knees, ankles and feet are already aching less at end of the shift. Anxious to see how they do over time but already very pleased.

The back of the shoe on the ankle took some time to wear in. They also have an interesting aging that happens quickly, but I’m kind of starting to like it. First pair of Mephisto’s and I’m almost a fan.

These shoes fit perfectly. Mephisto shoes are the only shoes that don't hurt my feet. I can wear them all day and my feet don't hurt.

I am a size 10 and based on the reviews, I ordered size 9:5. It feels perfect and I still have some room in the toe box, which is recommended by Mephisto.

Super comfortable. Very good quality. Non slip soles are stable on wet metal surfaces. Very happy with these. Sizing seems to be one full size larger so if you want size 11 then order size 10.

My husband has worn Mesphisto Match for years for work as well as travel. He needed new shoes fast for an upcoming trip with lots of walking, but his size in Match was out of stock. I ordered Paco, and I think it has usurped Match for its comfort and utility. Paco is lighter in weight than Match, and it looks very smart. And it is water resistant — a plus!
