The One Jr.! I understand there are a lot of complaints about the One Jr. because they wore out more quickly than most youth options (There is a nicer way to say this, but it's true) And there's a lot of squeaky wheels out there complaining I'm sure...BUT I actually loved this aspect about the shoe! The One Jr would usually last long enough for me to get my kid into a half size larger. I understand if parents are on a tight shoe budget, the One Jr may not be for them. BUT if a family can budget a little extra for shoes (maybe cut spending in another category) the One Jr. is the perfect shoe for a developing foot. A shoe company willing to make a superior product based on comfort/performance/etc., even though it risks complaintwas what made me loyal to Altra! Now my boys are foot-spoiled. They laugh(or cry) at any other shoe they put on. My wife and I are very sensitive to the health we maintain via our feet. I've seen some complaints from parents online about the durability of the One Jr.; I see it like this: God could have made our skin leather or plastic y'all. Altra could have made these shoes in that way as well. Prioritizing the experience over durability is what makes the shoes special. The new youth/kids shoe (Kokiri) is likely more durable; I hope it is not at the expense of the experience. Yes, I said it. The foot experience for youth is more critical than we parents want to admit. I learned this when my first child had trouble walking as a toddler. We changed his footwear and he almost immediately began running and jumping: and this new "feel" he experienced came with great confidence and joy. Now at 8, our boy broke the record for the mile time in his elementary school, and even though I tell him his success comes from his heart and mind, he want to give credit to his Altras! (Are we raising a weirdo?? Lol) The One Jr usually lasts long enough for me to get my kid into a half size larger.We are good with that. (Note: we live in a desert.)

My girl's slightly bear-footed like her mama and papa and this shoe is a perfect fit! The length is just right and the classic Altra toe-box is exactly what a kid with thick feet would need. I'm not sure why some would complain about the last of this shoe because my kid wouldn't stop wearing these until her feet outgrew them! We're buying another pair today and I just am so thankful that Altra would make such a perfect shoe for kids!

My seven year old son with sensory processing disorder loves these shoes. He loves that he can wiggle his toes and not feel restricted. I'm so grateful to have shoes he loves to wear!

i wear altras and my son too. i even play basketball in them . with the more natural geometry of the shoe i feel my ankles and knees and spine all feel more relaxed and solid less prone to injury

Our kids (9 and 7) love these shoes. I'm glad to have found a zero drop kid shoe. Today we are ordering the 3rd pair for each kid. The shoes start to wear out just as the kids grow out of them. Just wish there were more colors! And maybe some additional styles for kids...

We we bought a pair of running shoes for our little boy that were too big. Jenni from customer service was awesome in getting those returned and new ones sent out. I just bought another pair of sandals for my boy and plan on getting some for myself when the size 12 are available. !!

I bought a couple pairs of the One Jr for my kids. The are good looking and light. My kids' feet like most kids are wide and appreciate the extra room in the forefoot so that their feet can perform normally and naturally without being cramped. So far so good. They previously had the Instinct Jr. The grooves on these allow for a more natural foot movement when they are playing.

On behalf of my two sons wearing Altra One Jrs, I am extremely satisfied with how these shoes run and move with my kids. Light and fast, these shoes are dialed (quiet), and allows them to develop proper natural foot strike and allows for an efficient form.

Even though we were always buying extra wide shoes and having them professionally fitted, my son had red spots and the beginning of callouses on the outside of his little toe from his shoes rubbing and being too tight in the toe box. It was getting worse and making his feet look deformed with a big red hump on the joint of his little toes. The same thing happened to me as a child and I was miserable as an adult before I started wearing Altra's. I didn't want my son to go through what I did, so I was glad to discover Altra made shoes in kid's sizes. I switched my son to Altra's and after a month, there is no redness and the callouses are getting smaller. He also says his feet feel better and I never hear him complain about his feet getting hot or hurting. He'll even keep his shoes on all day and that's a big switch because he used to take them off as soon as he got in the car from school pick up. Thank you Altra!
