My son had been having plantar fascia pain anytime he'd run more than a mile; after 1 week, his foot pain is pretty much gone, and he's loving the enhanced smoothness of his footfalls and greater speed. Every time he wears them, he hugs and thanks me, which sure is nice. Thank you so much, Altra! My son thanks you, too!! Best shows ever, as far as we're concerned (I have the grownup version)! He loves the fact that these aren't a watered down version of the adult shoe, too.

My child, who is ADHD w/sensory issues, has wide-ish feet and high arches, LOVES these shoes. He says they are the most comfortable sneaker he's ever had. They are light and flexible, which make him run extra fast! Daily wear has shredded 1 pair every 3 months since Sept. We're trying the "lone peak" model this time around to see if they last a little longer. Though other brands last 6 mos. or more (Asics, Nike, New Balance) we'll keep buying Altra because they fit his foot so much better. I would recommend this particular model to users who are not terribly rough on their gear.

My son loves them. He has a habit of walking on his toes and the zero drop helps his gait. The only reason I gave them a four is because the soles wear out fast, if they were a little more durable I would give them a 5.

The fit and sizing are spot on. These shoes are excellent for kids that have wide feet. My son doesn't wear any other shoes now because they are all too narrow and stiff. Theses altras are wide and flexible. The only problem is that he gets holes in them before he grows out of them and for the price they should be made to last a little longer.

Good shoes but the sole isn’t all rubber. Since we like to do some hiking I didn’t feel the sole of the shoe would be ideal if my daughter steps on a twig or something. But if we end up getting her a second pair of shoes one for trails and one for everyday. We would get these. Other wise, these are getting returned to Zappos for now.

Thank you Altra for making a youth shoe! My daughter is 9 and unfortunately already has foot issues. The Altras fit her great and she says they are so comfortable. My only concern is that the sole is not super durable and she is wearing it through it quite quickly.

Nice healthy foot shape kids shoes, unfortunately very poor quality. Both the sole and the upper material fell apart in 3 months.

I should start with I bought these for myself not a child and I wanted to really like them but the zero drop heal really threw off my balance and felt tipsy when standing. Although they look very wide I would say they are just above average in width but comfy. Sad to send these back but of course Zappos is awesome like always.

I wear a 38 womens shoe. I can wear Keens and Merrell in Big Kids Shoes, but the size Big Kids size 6 Altra does not fit me.

I have bought 3 pairs of these for my son and daughter. I am always searching high and low for my 3 requirements for shoes: flat, flexible and a wide toe box. This fits the bill for all three and they are my son's favorite pair. However, they do not hold up well to daily wear. The soles almost immediately begin to wear out and the fabric is very thin and begins to fray within a month or two. Because they are so comfortable, we still managed to stretch their wear for almost a year, but they didn't look good at all. I reluctantly bought a second pair when he grew out of the first. I'm writing this review, not to deter anyone from purchasing them, but in the hope that the company will improve the durability of the shoe and expand their offerings for youth sizes.

This shoe is wonderful for promoting good food development and alignment. However, it is really not durable. Within a couple months the uppers had developed holes and the sole began delaminating

The zero drop, the toe room, the light weight, the flexible sole--all that is great. These things feel like what kids really need in shoes. But they started wearing out immediately. They have no durability. The soles looked like they were years old after a few weeks. The fabric is fraying. One part of the sole is peeling off. Please make an Altra shoe for kids that lasts more than a month. Kids, of all people, need shoes that can stand up to abuse, not shoes that give out quickly under normal use.

These shoes are great for helping alleviate the pain my son had from an ingrown toenail and my son loves them. But our first pair only lasted a couple months before parts of the sole started separating. However, he liked them so much and felt so comfortable in them I decided to buy another pair. Sadly, they are also starting to fall apart after a couple of months. I'm torn between comfort and cost. At this price I would expect the shoe to last as long as other big name brands.

We absolutely loved these at first. My 9 year old said they were super comfy and loved the wide toe box. Unfortunately, they were completely falling apart within 6 weeks...whole through the toe area, traction on soles were completely gone, and just overall falling apart and worn out. Really love how these shoes fit but definitely need better quality and materials to last more than a month or 2 for kids!

after 6 months (4 of which was indoor wear only as it was winter and boots were worn outside) I had to give up and get new shoes for my 9 year old as there was a gigantic slit in the side of one shoe, and the sole was peeling off in places on both. These were quite expensive to only last the equivalent of 2 months daily wear.

Altra shoes are always great, unfortunately their kids shoes are terrible in the durability department. We have had three pairs that have not lasted more four months.

I am extremely disappointed in these shoes. Initially I was thrilled to have found a zero drop shoe for my son to wear for school/daily use. I bought them at the start of the school year, but by November the upper was completely detached from the sole in the arch area. Thinking this was a fluke, and knowing that he loved the style and comfort of these shoes, I purchased another pair in December. Here we are in April, and the same exact thing has happened. I refuse to spend $60 on a pair of sneakers that only lasts 3-4 months. Truly unfortunate since he loves these shoes and does not want to try any others.
