Purchased this jacket for a trip to Iceland in early June. Needed both warmth and waterproof and 3-in-1. It was perfect for the climate. It kept me dry from the rain and waterfall-spray and warm even during a cold, wet, windy excursion by ferry up to the Arctic Circle where the wind chills were in the teens. The colour I liked was not offered in the "Tall" version. I'm 6'4", 240lbs, 47" chest. The "find my size" guide suggested I get an XXL. I chose XL and the fit was perfect with room for a couple thin layers underneath. The Liner jacket fits well and is not snug but also doesn't have gaps to let the cold in.

Very comfortable and well-fitted to my build. I'm very happy with this purchase and it's the best coat I've had by a long shot!

Coat is absolutely NOT waterproof. I have an older north face water-resistant coat that I've used for years and am very happy with. I bought this new coat literally only because it was advertised as waterproof and I was planning on travelling for 3 weeks. It was raining on the first hike that I went on and within an hour the water was seeping right through the material and I was soaked. Obviously I was just as wet the remaining 3 weeks of my vacation. A 5$ poncho would have done a better job. When I tried calling customer service, i was advised that I had to send the coat back to the warranty center where they "will determine ..." but would likely (at best) only send me a replacement jacket, NOT a refund. I have now done that (sending it out today) and am awaiting a response. For years I have purchased northface sweatshirts, winter hats, gloves, scarves, coats. I will likely NEVER buy a northface product again.

So I alternate between products from North Face, Marmot, Patagonia and Arc'teryx for my outdoor and traveling needs. I travel quite frequently and bought this jacket for my trip to Iceland. The reason I bought this jacket was for something that was very warm, waterproof, windproof, and easily packed in a carry on backpack (I very rarely check bags traveling). My background includes being a medic in the military, avid traveler, wild land firefighter, caver, and backpacker, so you understand where I come from for comfort and performance. Pros: light, warm, compressible, waterproof, windproof. Held up well to Iceland's harsh November storms. Cons: The Velcro on the wrists are weak and don't hold very well. Furthermore, the buttons that hold the inner lining to the outer shell are weak as well and you will have them pop frequently and the sleeve coming out when you take it off, leading to a major inconvenience of having to feed it through prior to next wear. The sun-visor on the hood when I used it, kept on occluding my vision and I had to flip it up out of my eyesight. Again, very minor but lead to a high end product making me look funny in pictures. Would I recommend this product to my friends? As of right now I would say no. The price is too high to have such minor details overlooked. But, if they chose to fix those issues I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for something to hold up to extreme conditions. I am all about comfort in the extreme weather now.

Great style but a few cons: 1. Not made for cold weather. Any weather below 10c / 50F and you'll be an ice cube in no time 2. Lack of armpit zippers 3. I usually wear L jackets, but this one is definitely too big for me, esp. the arms.

Great jacket! Love the colors available and the fit is just right. Only downside is that while the jacket is rated as "Warmest" and "Heavyweight", it is quite thin and I wouldn't consider it a 3 out of 3 in the "Warmest" category (more like a 2 out of 3). Still nicely made though.

The sleeves need two snaps to hold in the inner jacket.

Bought this as an early Christmas gift for my dad. He loves that he can detach the interior fleece and wear it casually. On colder, wet days, he just reattaches the outer shell and he's good to go. Very versatile and would definitely recommend

Love this jackets versatility for warmth with the interior jacket but also light enough to wear in the 50 and 60 degree rain. Will be perfect for hiking

Purchased this for my boy friend for his birthday it fit nicely but overall wasn't the best fit for him. He's not tall but has broad shoulders and the jacket was a bit long. This is described as "cardinal red" which to me means bright red, in person it was more of a brick red. He liked the color, I did not.
