I've noticed that Keen footbed has changed in recent year(s), there is now what feels like arch support at the outer edge of the foot, which I find very uncomfortable. Had to return. If your foot likes this, these are great boots.

Sole felt very stiff, I know this is common with trail and hiking shoes. Also looked to have been worn by someone else when I opened the box, so back you go.

So, weird story. I was debating these Keen’s because they were slightly less voluminous in the forefoot than I wanted when I discovered that, in my size at least, the black/dark grey color is wider than the tan. So if you’re on the fence for that reason, you may want to try the other color. I did keep the dark grey ones but not without a misgiving I’ve had about all Keens so far. Namely, I find that the toe box is fairly wide as suits my feet, but unfortunately the heel is also wider than a medium, and on that front, my feet are not. There are all sorts of lacing techniques you can try to get that heel solidly in there, but they are a strain on fingers and laces, may not hold, may limit circulation on the instep (especially w my high instep), and still don’t *quite* do the trick for me. This was true in both colors. I’m not sure if this will prove to be a heel-rubbing problem or not. I have this issue in a more exaggerated fashion with all Merrell shoes and simply cannot wear them. I’m hoping Keens will prove unproblematic in use and not because I’m wearing a thick layer of moleskin for every single outing. I’m not sure how much slip will prove ok. I did try some other insoles to see if raising or lowering the heel could help, but few would fit with my wide volume foot, and none helped. So why did I keep them (I kept a winter model as well)? Quite simply, from what I read in reviews and tried on, I can no longer find a hiking brand that provides a glove fit for my wide toes, high instep, and average heel. Durability seems to be an increasing issue w nearly every brand of hiking boot as well, so I’m jumping in before it all goes to pot. From what I read about this model, it was a durable one until they changed the manufacturing country. But it sounds like the more recent production of targhee ii still fares better than the targhee iii. So targhee II it is. And farewell to the days (and companies) of solid full grain leather construction, a wide but steel toe, great support, and and great tread. The combo just doesn’t exist anymore. Here’s hoping I did not buy some pricey mistakes. As for arch support, it is modest but better than in my Keen winter boots. As for the support construction *under* the insoles, I can’t really tell until I’m out on the trail, which I can’t be right now.

I wanted these hiking boots because I LOVE my Keen sandals and my Keen safety toe shoes. I figured they'd be almost identical to my safety shoes - they aren't. The arch support was all wrong! I expect arch support on the /inside/ of my foot, not over the entire arch of my foot. Other than the weird arch support, these boots were pretty nice, but I had to return them because just sitting in them for five minutes made my feet ache.

A few months ago, I reviewed these to say that although they have been my go to boots for years, the most recent pair I ordered lasted less than half as long as previous pairs. This week I ordered another pair to find that not only has the quality changed, but so has the size! January of last year, I wore a size 10. This July I ordered the same exact boot - only to find that it was about 1/2" smaller from heel to toe. My toes were jammed up against the end, the arch was in the wrong place, and the overall measurement of the exterior of the boot and sole had changed. Even if you've been wearing these awhile, consider sizing up next time.

Toe box very wide. I felt some slippage in size 7.5 regular width; yet I felt size 7 wouldn't work with heavier hiking socks. Also the rise at top of lace sits high on my ankle. I'm 5'2" with smallish ankles, so I often have problem with ankle boots sitting high and causing sense of constriction. However, this Keen boot is very high quality with great support. It's just not the fit I need, so I have to return.

I ordered these a half size larger as Keene tends to run small and they fit well. They are comfortable for walking and don't leak. They are a little clunky looking but are actually very light.

as usual, Keens no longer have any sort of arch support......their innersoles are a joke, despite all the pretty writing. Keen also has no consistent sizing anymore. These boots are my size, but run small.

I always wear keen boots or sneakers. This is the first pair I had to wear around the house for a few hours to see if they fit. Initially right out of the box they seem OK but not after you’ve had them on for a while. As others have stated toe space good and even though room for bunion the boot is stiff under your foot. This is the first pair of keen boots that didn’t have any padding, referring to great Kacis by Keen. The back heel has a seam that may irritate some, perhaps causing a blister. The boot is lightweight and seems made well so if the hardness under your foot is not an issue for you then this boot could work.

I have been wearing and loving the Keen Targhee II shoes and hiking boots for years. My feet have always loved them, and they get what they want. But I have to say that the 2 most recent pairs of both the shoes and the hiking boots, in my normal size, have not lived up to their predecessors. They are narrower in the toe box and larger in the heel so that my heel slips up and down when I walk, so I am returning them. I am sorry to say I will have to find another brand for my feet to love

I'm still trying to decide if I am keeping these. They are quite wide for medium width feet. One of my feet is a whole half size larger, so I often have an issue with one shoe being either too short or long, depending. I'm not sure these will be supportive enough since my feet move around in them. They seem nice quality and family members have had Keens last for years. I am trying an innersole and then I will decide since I need some boots.

I wear a 10 1/2 - my feet were all over the inside of these! Needed a 9 1/2. After comparing these to my Hoka Ones, going to keep the Hoka. Hoka are like a warm hug from a friend. Right out of the box comfort. These are going back!

I knew these boots were too wide at first sight. I can't really give a review of their performance, but I can submit that they run very wide and a bit large.

These shoes were not as comfortable as I thought they would be. I have a very high arch and found little arch support. They also are so boxy that they look like you are wearing ice blocks on your feet. Do not buy these to look cute. I do think if you don't have a high arch they would be very comfortable to hike in or even wear when walking long distance.

I would like to say that I love these boots because they were comfortable right out of the box, but Keen is having some serious issues with manufacturing quality and the last two pair I've purchased, as well as 2 pair my husband has purchased, have had the soles peel off within the first year of use. One pair even self destructed after only 4 months and only being worn about 6 times. And now they won't replace if you've already replaced due to warranty/defect issues. I love Zappos, but not feeling it for Keen.

It was suggested that I order a half size bigger--but even they were too small!! The arch did not set right with feet either---so that was another problem--Keen does make a good product--Would like to see more of them ON SALE--

I purchased these because I had the exact same pair before that lasted me years. I was shocked to find that these were falling apart after usual outdoor gardening and short hiking/walks in far less time than my last pair. I would not purchase these again after this short lifetime experience.

Disappointed in fit. The right boot rubbed against the ankle. The right boot is also very irregular. Tilts inward and the color of the leather is much darker than the left boot. Very ugly. I have bought these boots before and I was very pleased with the comfort for walking and hiking. Excellent arch support.

Fits well, comfortable and I’ve bought them before and like the support. I will be returning them because they are very irregular. Keen has never sent such a pair before. The boots brown suede didn’t match. Two different color on them. Also, the right shoe bent to the right and it was very apparent on the outside. That boot is very wide too. Other then that, I bought another pair and they look and fit great.

A very clunky shoe. Stiff and like wearing Frankenstein shoes. I love my Keen sandals, but I thought these were awful and returned them.
