I bought these boots in brown, 9.5 Wide. After reading several reviews that said the boots run narrow, I decided on the wide width. Good choice! As soon as I put them on I realized that the medium width would have been too tight, even with light socks. They are stiff but comfortable, even right out of the box. The sole and bottom of the heel are a rubbery-silicone-like material that eliminates the shock from walking on concrete or asphalt. The soles will protect against slipping on most surfaces, except maybe sheer wet ice or black ice. Timberland did a great job on the soles (would love to see a coarse-textured design on the sole to add more "grip" when walking on icy surfaces)! The leather is some type I haven't seen before. Seems like a leather-rubber hybrid. It has a slightly shiny finish, and when you put the boots on you can see where the color lightens (turns an orangy brown) at those points where the boot bends across your foot or where your toes/bunion push on the leather. It gives the boots a slightly scuffed or broken-in appearance, but it's not awful. The boots do adjust to your foot fairly quickly. Within an hour they're comfortable, as long as you got the right width. The gored sides are really kind on your ankles; when walking down stairs you won't get bruises on your shins from the tight leather around your ankes. They soften up just enough fairly quickly and are also light enough and flexible enough to drive in. Functionally, these are great boots. I don't know what kind of leather this is; the box says it's leather. And they do run narrow. I wore them all day and my feet were only typically tired and hot at the end of the day. I have a few scuff marks but they will become less noticeable if I rub the spots. I wouldn't want to walk or stand in these boots for hours, but they were comfortable to wear at work all day--walking around, up and down stairs, etc. No pain or blisters. The only thing I would like to see added to this boot is a textured design on the sole so it offers better traction for walking on icy sidewalks and parking lots. Otherwise, a great boot!

Took a chance and bought these. Really, really comfortable. They go with everything and I can walk in it all day! My new favorite boots for 2016/2017.

These are great! I saw them on a blog, and at the advice of the blogger, ordered half a size up and a wide width (I'm generally medium width, 9.5 or 10) so I went with a 10 wide so I could wear them with warm socks. They fit great, but they're super narrow, so definitely go wider than normal. I've been wearing them on icy Maine sidewalks since I got them and they're great; nice and grippy and comfortable to stand in for five hours at an event that I worked. Love them!

These are classic sturdy shoes that seem like they will be quite comfortable for extended periods (a must for me since I walk a good deal). I ordered the brown in 7.5W and the black in 8M. I normally wear a 7.5. They both fit though the 8M is a bit looser and my heal slips and the 7.5w is a bit snug out of the bocx. So I would say go a half size up if you fluctuate between 7.5 and and 8, and order the wide if you are a true 7.5.

Extremely comfortable and easy to put on. I normally wear a 7.5 and 7.5 was fine. Yes little snug the first couple of hours but felt perfect shortly thereafter. Highly recommend.

I ordered mine in wide and a half size up and they fit perfectly! Very comfortable; I wore them for 9 hours (mostly standing and walking) the day I got them. The heel is a great height and they fit perfectly in that "not too casual/not too dressy" category, so they go with everything.

Oh, I wanted this to work, because it is a beautiful classic fall boot -- I had it planned for tailgates and soccer game sidelines -- and I was so thankful Timberland offered W widths. This looked perfect. However, my feel is narrow compared to my wide forefoot. The 8 W was too tight in my forefoot but a bit loose in heel... but the 8 1/2 W was so loose around the heel and midfoot that it was ridiculous. So sad, but alas it must go back. I wish it had a less wide heel area!! Thanks however.

I originally ordered the 9 in these but needed to go up one half size to the 9 1/2 to great a good fit. I am a true 9 in almost every shoe so I'd say they run slightly on the small side. The are very narrow so may not be comfortable if you have wide feet. They are very comfortable for all day wear and look great with jeans.

I ordered these first in the 8.5 Medium width. I am typically pretty true to size at an 8.5, and my foot is relatively average if not on the narrow side. They were too small, length and width, so I ordered the 9 wide, and they're perfect. I wore them with some pretty thin socks and they slipped just a touch, but will be great with normal socks. The heels are sturdy and very comfortable.

Love these boots! I ordered both the lighter and darker brown and ended up keeping the darker pair though there's honestly not a whole lot of difference between the two colours. These boots are very comfortable and the rubber sole makes them very easy to walk in. I can wear them all day and be fine. They look great with jeans.

Very comfortable, soft and good looking. Had to get in wide based on reviews and was perfect. Just to note, it was my first pair to get W. I walked the first day about 2 hours and I was okay.

Runs narrow! I'm going to try the wide next. Nice looking boot!
