I bought these boots figuring an all-leather boot with a Vibram sole would be good for basically daily use. I dont see that being the case with these boots, I have worn these boots probably 20-25 times, mostly walking the dog and doing some yard work. I did do 2 hikes in these boots that were not anything too hard and both hikes were 4 to 4.5 miles each. the boots fit great and were comfy right out of the box, but they are not even close to being waterproof (even with treatment) and the Vibram sole shows pretty good wear, again in only 20-25 days use and are slippery on wet surfaces. I don't see these boots lasting more than a year.

I'm a big fan of Merrell but these boots have been a major dissappointment. Bought for daily use as a construction project manager and they are not usable due to being extremely slippery on ladders, scaffolds and interior surfaces. Comfort is ok but not great.

Have my boots for three months now. Used them through some light rain and everything was ok. The past few days had to walk on snowy streets (maximum 3 inches) and got my feet pretty wet! It seems the water went in through the stitches around the boot, where the leather joins the rubber.

I probably should have read the reviews on here but these boots were quite a disappointment. Not only are they not "waterproof" but my socks get soaked just walking my dog in wet grass at the park. I have sneakers that do a better job than that. Bummer.

I got the Sugarbush Waterproof boot because I thought it would be good for bad weather in the winter with the waterproof leather. The boots look great, but after a few times wearing them in wet or snowy weather, the leather got irreparably stained. If getting these, I would recommend them for casual use only and try to keep them dry.

Amazingly comfortable and stylish boot. I was very excited to wear these out and about in Chicago. One winter, a few snow storms later, and with some wet feet, I believe these boots to be ruined. I came back to this site to double check that the boots are actually advertised as water proof (not just water resistant). Be cautious of the marketing claims before purchasing.

Well made, great fit, not very durable. Worn these thru one winter about 3 months. This are supposed to be waterproof, however the water got thru the leather and shrunk them so much that I could not wear them anymore. Unacceptable for a winter boot to not be a winter boot.

As others have said these are not waterproof. They are comfy and they look wonderful but the fact I bought them to keep my feet dry during english winters I can't give them any more than two stars. Such a shame because they had real promise of a nice boot

So the first pair leaked after wearing them once in wet grass. I contacted Merrell and after 17 days, I received replacement boots. Takes a while, but OK, they replaced them. First day I have the new boots, we received a little over an inch of snow in the Charlotte area. I wore them outside for 30 minutes, came in and my feet are both in the toe area only. You can clearly see where the leather is saturated. Buyers beware, although comfortable, these boots are NOT waterproof and should not be advertised as such with all the reviews to the contrary.

I live in the Northeast and the past couple winters have been pretty mild in this area. So even though I needed winter boots, I didn't break down and buy them until I flew out West for a ski trip last March. I love how these look and they're very comfortable- I bought them before my trip. I was out in Tahoe for 3 days and it snowed the entire time, and the boots held up well. They may have been a little damp, but I assumed it was moisture from my feet since I wore them the whole trip. When I got back East, I packed them away in storage for the season. This year, the Winter season has hit the East coast hard. I broke these back out to wear in our first big snow storm in December. After going out in the snow for the first time, I noticed the leather looked waterlogged on the bottom where it meets the sole, and then shortly after I felt my socks getting wet. I can understand winter boots having this issue after some serious wear and tear, but to have only worn them for 3 days prior to this issue is definitely not what I expected. I've continued to wear them because they're all I have, and my feet are constantly wet, which gets especially unpleasant in the cold. It sucks too because, like I said, these are super comfy and are actually very warm when they're dry. Another negative is the water has stained the leather, so they've quickly become what looks and feels like raggedy old boots that need to be replaced. I'm pretty bummed about this because I know Merrell is a trusted outdoor brand, and I was excited to have top of the line boots when I bought them. Unfortunately, I can't justify recommending these based on my experience.

Boots look cool, they're very comfortable, and great for hiking in DRY conditions, but they're absolutely not waterproof. As other reviewers have noted, water seeps in through the stitching that attaches the sole to the boot.

One of the best looking boots I've ever come across. Too many compliments But.. I received them as a gift last Christmas and wore them until it was just too hot- so maybe 3 months of usage. Brought them out again this year in the fall and less than 3 months later and the boot is separating. I wear Asolos to go hiking, trail running shoes to run trails, and really only wore these to work a few times a week for six months- no serious use whatsoever. They are waterproof for about 15 minutes of walking in the rain- and then your feet are soaked, and now this stitching by the ball of my feet it just ripping away. Terrible craftsmanship.

I bought these last Winter and had an issue where water/salt from the sidewalks would soak into the seam between the sole and upper and stain the "waterproof" leather. Merrell exchanged them and then it happened again. It just happened a third time and I've gone with a different style. The unfortunate thing is that this boot is named after the ski resort I have a pass to and is clearly a winter boot but Merrell is telling me it shouldn't be used in Winter. I don't mean hiking up mountains or walking in deep snow but you'd think the boot could withstand a snowy sidewalk in VT. It's a great looking boot, fits great but doesn't come close to meeting my expectations of a boot from Merrell at this price point.

Way too stiff. Toe box way too small. bought to replace another pair of Merrell's that i loved. they had fabric lace eyelets that broke. bought them at an outlet in rehoboth beach de. didn't last 6 months before the eyelets broke. These boots are not worth buying. clunky and uncomfortable.

I purchased these boots a year ago. I immediately fell in love with them at the store (which is now out of business.) Fit perfect and very comfortable and very beautiful! I just went through the first winter with them and they fell apart. Both soles are falling apart and threading has come out. The sole and thread located near the toes have completely fell apart. I paid 250 for these boots in hopes they would last longer than this. I would appreciate someone getting a hold of me to exchange these boots for something I can wear.

Very stylish, mildly comfortable, but don't mistake the waterproof leather for the boots being anything close to waterproof. Purchased two pairs and while the leather may have water resisting qualities, the stitching on the sole lets lots of water in.

I work in the out of doors on a daily basis, and when it came time to buy another pair of hiking boots I settled on the Sugarbush. I was immediately disappointed because the leather felt like a cheap baseball glove your parents buy you when you're 6 years old. It wasn't long until I got to test out their "waterproof" abilities. They failed miserably. Not only were my feet soaked, it took forever for these boots to dry out! They just absorb the water and don't let go. I will never be buying Merrell boots again.

The color fades within a week & they look like they are years old. After 3 months of wear the sole detached from the boot. This is the second pair of Merrel’s that have done this. They do not stay waterproof. Would not buy again.

I needed a pair of winter boots; a pair that would keep my feet warm on cold days and would be able to handle snow. I found this pair browsing under their winter boot filter. I picked them because they looked great and claimed to be waterproof. After wearing them I am happy how comfortable and warm they are, but unfortunately they don't seem to react well to getting wet. After one hour of being outside and around snow the leather of these boots became soaked. I thought nothing of it and placed them in a warm spot to dry. Unfortunately they dried with an unsightly indentation on the toe. It's a shame because these boots kept my feet warm and dry but now have an unsightly blemish. I'll still wear them to run errands, but I will not feel comfortable wearing the around the office, as I originally intended.
