I bought these to replace a pair of Merrell Captiva boots that look very similar. I wore those until they fell apart. These boots are about an inch taller, have much stiffer soles, and and are just not as comfortable. I returned them. They are nice looking, just not as comfy as I wanted.

These boots were very cute online and exactly what I was looking for: a well made, waterproof boot with a comfortable sole for city walking in late fall and early winter. Unfortunately, the quality wasn't there in person. The sole felt like a rocker under my foot, some glue was visible on the leather at the sole, and the style of the boot was less tailored than it appeared online. I am replacing my 10+ year old Merrell Jungle Mocs and wanted to stay with the brand, but it seems like there has been a dip in quality. I'll keep trying!

Looking for a little more style - more of a city boot that can also withstand wet weather and has a good sole. The boot was very comfortable with a wide toe box and good arch support. The sole approaches that of a light hiking boot - all pluses. Just not the look I was going for.

So let down by Meryll! I have been looking for this kind of boot for a while after I have worn my others out after two years of virtually wearing it every second day in Autumn/Winter! Rain or snow - It looked the same (so I was super excited to order it in two colors since I loved the previous pair so much) but on receiving was much more cheaper looking in finish and in basic construction which is bad. No heel fit/grip at all and terribly stiff, will def not wear in like my other pair. No real shape to it either - not at all like it indicates on the images online.

This is my shoe of choice for work as I am in an environment where something that is above the ankle and waterproof is imperative. That being said, I've worn Merrell boots of similar style for many years. This boot is more comfortable and has better arch support than styles that I have previously purchased.

Bought for a week long trip to London, with extensive walking. It was cold, sometimes rainy. I wore these daily for 12+ hours, with a single pair of smart wool socks. They were perfect: warm, sturdy, comfortable. Not super stylish but who cares?

Love these boots! No break in period, comfy right from the start. True to size and I appreciate that they make size 10.5 since most companies don't. Seem plenty warm with a thin pair of smartwool socks. Hope they are truly waterproof as advertised to handle snowy/slushy weather.

Finally found what I was looking for in this boot. Comfort and style and hopefully a boot that will last me a long time and get better as they soften up. Thanks you Zappos for all th shipping back and forth until I got it right.

Bought these before making a 10 day trip to Portland and Seattle for academic conferences. I was able to wear these the whole time. Comfortable right out of the box, great for rainy weather, fashionable for work attire. I have a wide foot, and can easily wear these with SmartWool socks. The boot is flexible, but sturdy, easy to clean off, and just warm enough (I don't like when shoes are too warm). Very happy and hoping to have these last a few years.

I absolutely love Merrell boots. I bought these for working as I garden for a profession. They are perfect! Very comfortable, durable, water resistant, have a strong sole for spade digging and also no heavy grooves that would hold on to mud. Easy to slip on or off with the side zipper.

I needed a waterproof ankle boot for a trip and this has been perfect. I found it as comfortable as any new shoe can be (I believe they all need breaking in) and I think it is cute and certainly practical even for this old lady.

Love these boots. Very attractive and very comfortable. I've worn them constantly for the past two weeks and they look brand new.

Beautifully made, perfect fit, but don't like the plain style that is roomy in the foot but tight on my calf.

Excellent boot if you're not doing serious hiking, but maybe some very wet or muddy walks. These have been up to my ankles in very thick mud and did not leak. They also cleaned up really well, which I was a little worried about with the softer leather finish. Highly recommended if you want a moderate level hiking boot that still looks nice in the city. Great for travel!

I'm very happy with these boots. They fit perfect and I love the arch support. My toes stay warm but not overheated. I haven't worn them in wet weather yet so I'm not sure if they will be true to the waterproof claim but I'm betting they'll keep my feet dry. I'm hoping these will last for many years to come.

I got this pair for my trip to Europe, where I will be walking a lot, and it rains during the fall/winter season. I needed a good support boots, that can pass as casual yet sophisticated enough for some outfits. I didn't need to break into these - spent whole day in it and no problem! Love them!

a little too narrow. i would trade for a 9.5 wide, or I'll have to try for a 10.

I bought these boots to walk both in town and on trails. I wanted a boot that was light, stylish, water and weatherproof. These fit the bill, except they are VERY SLIPPERY! The light layer of frost this morning on some rocks on the trail sent me flying. I am not sure why Merrell would make such a boot with a sole that is smooth and slick. They are also not very warm. The sole is thin and cold seeps right in. Overall a disappointment, I was hoping for a more versatile boot, not a 2 season boot. Too expensive for that!

I was looking for a casual black boot that would look good with leggings and skinny jeans. The toe shape is too wide to look very fashionable or modern. The opening at the leg hits at an awkward place, and is too wide in my opinion. I think I would prefer it to hit lower, so will shop for more of an ankle boot. The boot fit was comfortable, but slipped on my heel, even trying on with thick socks. I think if it had fit better, I may have kept.

The good: These boots are quite comfortable (though it is true that the uppers are a bit stiff) and they do keep your feet dry. The bad: Not great on slippery terrain such as mud, slush or wet brick pavement, all common hazards in my rainy town. My rating is a bit lower because of this lack of traction.

The upper part is too stiff and after a few minutes trying on it hurt my upper ankle.

Love this boot! Unfortunately they are almost impossible to get on my arthritic feet at the end of the day. So I'm assuming they would be hard to get off. Zipper opening isn't large enough.

these were well made boots, but ultimately extremely uncomfortable. I was surprised at how stiff and lacking in padding the foot bed was. the arch support was good, almost aggressive, and (although I have fussy feet) I only had these on for about 5 minutes before my feet started to ache.
