This is my second review of these shoes. I have worn them almost daily during the last month or so during the wettest winter in one of the wettest US cities. Once again, the do keep your feet dry. I said initially that they were not good shoes for slush or mud, I'd like to add that they perform below par on almost any kind of wet surface. The sole offers very little traction. I have caught myself sliding on wet brick pavers, grass, pebbled pavement, in short, on most surfaces I encounter walking around my town. If you really want a shoe that's good for a wet climate, this is not the one for you. Look for a shoe that provides more traction.

Why did Merrell retire the original Captiva boot? All their attempts to recreate it have failed! The old one was simple, stylish and super comfortable. I bought two pairs and wore them out. Since then, I have tried Merrell's various "newest latest" editions, all of which just don't match up to the original,including this one, the Travvy. Leather is stiff, soles are hard, toes felt tight. I tried them on, and was glad to get them off of my feet!

Surprisingly disappointed by these. I had my eye on these for ages--specifically because they look like they'd be comfortable. I have Merrell's Captiva Launch Buckle-Up boots, and they're great for me. I ordered these Travvy in the same size, but they don't fit my foot the same. There is no arch support and everything felt wrong. The leather is very stiff. Just uncomfortable. Returned.

I wish I could return these but I already wore them. I bought them for the rain, as they came up in a search for waterproof boots. I got them for my commute, not for long tramps in the rain.. and they are almost wide enough for my freakishly wide feet. After I did wear them on a wet day, however, I discover they are very slippery on certain surfaces -- like the painted lines on the road, metal plates on the sidewalk, and those raised bumps on the train platform. -- I was running for the train and just almost did a major face plant. And the rain had stopped hour ago, it was only slightly damp. Don't get these shoes if you want to do walking in wet conditions in urban areas. Or better, just don't get these.
