I originally bought this jacket years ago and absolutely loved it! I wore it everyday and had it for a couple years and never had an issue. Then while I was at the gym I had it stolen from me. Because this was my favorite jacket ever I went and bought the exact same one. This one is AWFUL! Within the first year feathers were coming out of every seam. Every time I put the jacket on or take it of little feathers come out. When I take my gloves out of my pocket the are covered in feathers. I took it into the store since they say they have a warranty on their products. After sending it in I was told this is normal and they would not do anything. I literally had the exact same jacket and NEVER had an issue, with the new one I am covered in feathers after taking it off. My family and I have always purchased jackets from North Face, but I don't see myself paying this price for such a low quality coat in the future. I'm so dissapointed in the company for not standing behind their product. I would recommend not purchasing this!

For paying almost $400 I would expect that this jacket is completely perfect... After wearing it for one day the detailing on the pockets/zippers was peeling off. It seems like a cheap material, such as what is used on active clothing for reflectiveness. I'm not impressed. The rest of the jacket is great but even the minor details should be perfected when spending this kind of money on what should be a quality product. Here's a few pros: -Its extremely warm and insulated well. -It fits like a glove. If you want room for thick clothing I'd go a size up. -The material stays dry when it's snowing.

I love this jacket. I took it with me to Iceland during the winter, and it kept me very warm and it was also very durable. It dries fast after being out in the rain.

Frustrating! I tried the L and the XL and I usually wear a L - but this coat really felt like a M and when I tried the XL, it was too big. I am not sure if its only me - but I feel their design in general is too tight.

This jacket was exactly what I was looking for! It keeps me warm in my 0.5 mile walk from my car to my workplace at 6:30 am in single digit temperatures. Pockets have a soft fuzzy texture and are very deep to keep those hands warm! I also love the double zipper, so it is nice to unzip the bottom to sit and drive without having your entire jacket unzipped. I am 5'7 and 190 lbs, and a large fit perfectly and the length hits mid-thigh.

I recently bought this jacket and I love it l! I just wish it was a little more longer, maybe below the knees. I live in New York City and yesterday we had "big" snow storm and i must say i was really warm and the snow never penetrated.

This jacket is warm and waterproof which makes it great for MN weather.

Love love love this jacket. My favorite north face yet. Get so many compliments on it. Perfect for Minnesota weather.

Im 5'8" and weigh 143. I bought in a medium. Shoulders are too tight as stated in previous comment. Sleeves are so short I cant put my thumb in the thumb hole without damaging jacket. Bulky. When I put the hood on, it drops below eye level so I cant see anything. I have to exchange it

Love this coat?? I purchased a small and a medium. I normally wear a small. I thought to buy the medium just in case I wear a heavy sweater underneath. But it’s plenty warm - don’t need to. And the medium felt too bulkier around the waist.

This jacket looked PERFECT on the model. I wanted SO badly for it to work for me, sadly i'm much much shorter than the model :( Had to return. I was expecting it to hit about mid thigh...but the back of the jacket hit the back of my knees! I'm 5'3 and i just got lost in it. Too bad since it checked off everything else on my 'the perfect jacket' list. Warm, big hood, nice color, SNAPS (no lousy velcro strips!). Ladies, if you are looking for a warm winter parka and you are taller than 5'3 I say give this one a go.

I was looking for something stylish, yet warm enough for the winters we can get in MN. It was important to me that the coat it was both wind and water resistant as well, as I get chilled very easily. I also wanted something with a hood that I could quickly pull over my head for that extra warmth and something long enough to keep most of my body and legs warm. With the 'Far Northern Waterproof Parka' , I found everything I was looking for in a nicely designed coat that is super warm!

Bought as gift. Loved it but, "slim fit" too snug in mid region. Had to exchange.

Like many reviewers, I was considering getting a Canada Goose coat but was put off by the fur, price, and ethical issues associated with that brand. I went with this North Face coat because, as a petite person with a short torso (5'2", 105 lbs.), I find that coats with defined waists - such as the Arctic or the Tremaya - hit at the wrong spot. I like the A-line shape of this coat (though note that it does puff out a bit at the butt). As others have said, this coat is tight in the shoulders, so I sized up from an XS to S to accommodate sweaters, etc., though this causes the sleeves to be a little long on me (not a huge issue). I do wish the coat came in "TNF Black" instead of "Slub Black" because I feel that a true black looks more elegant/put-together. The hood is comfortable though the faux fur appears to sit at the top of my head instead of encircling it, for some reason, if that makes sense -- I may end up removing it. In any case, most importantly, I wore the coat this weekend when the temp was in the single digits and it was windy, with just a regular wool sweater underneath, and I was warm while out walking for hours in Chicago.

Just moved to Boston from Austin, TX and needed a WARM coat that didn't make me look like a marshmallow - this is IT. So cute - so warm - I love the hood, the pockets are big. It's exactly what I was looking for.

I just moved to Boston from Texas and needed a warm winter coat in order to survive - this is IT. Not only is it warm and stylish, it has snaps and a zipper, the hood is spacious and the faux fur is removable. The pockets are spacious and the length is almost to the knee, covering the butt, which is key. It will last a long time - I'm quite pleased with this purchase!

Coat was everything I wanted... very warm and very well made! Came on time... Happy I ordered it:-)

Order one size up. Tight in the middle.

This is perfect. It’s warm enough for tough northern winters. Fits nice and snug, but flattering!

I love this coat. I ordered it to attend an outdoor hockey game in Alberta Canada. I was nice and warm. I read the reviews and because it seemed a lot of them stated the sizes run small so I ordered a Large. That’s my only regret. I’m a true medium with slightly bigger shoulders so I sized up. I should have stayed with a medium. The large fits but it’s a bit wider through the waist than I would like.

I usually wear a large, but I always order a size up in Northface products. I do feel the run a little snug, especially in the hips. This coat has been lightweight, comfortable and warm so far. Hood comes down nicely over all my hair and keeps snow/rain out of my face. Would buy again.

Fit as expected

Perfect fit but is a true small. I love the way Northface Fits and keeps me warm. The hood is a nice fit too and not the type to blow off in the wind.

I think this coat is great and the color is very practical; however I decided to go for a less practical Arctic Parka II (the only available color there is white). But everyone said it fits better and seems less baggy (although in my own opinion, it is not all that baggy at all!). What might make it seem baggy comparing to Parka II is that the pockets are high and visually extend your waistline. One really issue though is the collar. Although Parka II is seemingly nearly the same model, but its collar is way more comfortable and doesn't cut into my neck. All in all, in the absence of Arctic Parka II model, I'd have kept this one. It is very warm.

Large was just a bit big, returning for a medium. Should keep me warm in the long winters!
